Hoelun had been lagging behind the others as she got used to her particular mount. She trotted lightly behind the racers, taking an easy pace. "This is great!" she proclaimed as the chocobo eased into a run.
She was laughing insanely now, the wind tearing at her long hair and breathing life into her pale features. Guado usually didn't look so happy, but Hoelun was having a wonderful day. And she wasn't the type to frown much, either. The fact that she enjoyed this experience probably made people like Sariel tolerate her even less.

A little bit of competetive a spirit woke in the samurai as Calli sped past. Having gained minute confidence is his chocobo riding skills, Sariel leaned forward.
"You're not gonna let her beat you like that are you, spazoid bird?" he said to his said evil mount. It made a little noise in reply. "Let's show her what you can do, killer!"
He threw back his head and let out a whoop as his chocobo jumped forward. Though, truth be told, Sariel was still clinging on for dear life.

Dars saw Rin's travel agency in the distance
"The finish line is almost in sight. C'mon birdie, one final push!"
The chocobo sped up, gained on the chocobos ahead but was unable to get level with them, let alone overtake them.
"Sorry Lirian, guess we wont win this one."

Lirian opened his eyes slowly, having closed them during the race; his eyes focused on the birds ahead and a canine-esq smile entered his features. "SLOW!" He commanded, setting the spell on the others.

Dars laughed aloud with shock
"Lirian, I didn't know you had it in you!"
Dars laughed again as the chocobo he was riding overtook the others and crossed the archway into the Chocobo Paddock. Dars slid off and helped Lirian down, still laughing, he was starting to have trouble breathing and it was starting to hurt.

Lirian looked up at Dars uncertainly, "Are you okay?" He asked, hand going to the summoners arm.

Dars cast cure on himself, the anaestetic part of the spell calming him enough to breathe normally
"Yeah, that was just so unexpected. I didn't think you'd have wanted to cheat too much, which is why I didn't haste the bird in the first place. No problem though, we beat the others and that's the mian thing!"

Hoelun noticed a sudden absence of breeze. Her chocobo was still trotting, but it didn't seem to be going anywhere fast. "Oh... oh NO!" she cried as Lirian and Dars pulled ahead. The expression on her face was that of total betrayal: capital D colon. "That was mean!" she squealed at them. It would take forever for her to cross into the paddock. She slumped over her chocobo's neck and sighed.

"Hey, wha?" Calli asks the air in confusion as the chocabo drops speed drastically. Realizing what had happened, and assuming it must have been her cousin Calli shouts at him indignantly. "That's cheating you know!!!" Calli wasn't angry for long as she pulls into the paddock and hops down, pouting wouldn't change the result of the race. Calli pats her chocabo and smiles. "We'll get em next time, don't you worry." Calli then turns to Dars and Lirian and smiles. "Well that was fun. Good job." Slowly an wicked twinkle comes to Calli's eyes though as she thinks up something. "And how bout since you guys proved you have so much more energy then us, why not buy the losers some food?"

"Hey! It was Lirian who did it!"
Dars said, even as he did so he realised how unlikely this sounded and was firmly expecting to be called a liar. He quickly cast haste on everyone to return their chocobos to normal speed.
"Alright, alright, I'll get us some food..."
he added in an undertone to Calli
"Do you reckon I should tell the others I'm an Al Bhed? How do you reckon they'd take it?"

Lirian watched all this with big innocent eyes, no one would believe that he had cast the spell, he looked far too innocent for that.

"Heigh-ho, Silver..." he said is a bored voice, twirling the reins.

Hoelun eyed Lirian suspiciously. Within a moment, her sour mood was gone-- that is, if she ever had one. She smiled brilliantly and slipped off the saddle, but as she did so, her boot got stuck. The result was an upside down little musician who was tangled up in the reins and her robes.
The little bundle of chaos thought she was close to freedom... until her chocobo decided to move. It walked over to Sariel and tried to preen his hair again, dragging its forlorn captive all the way. "Let me down!" she wailed. One last wiggle and-- "OOF. Owie..."

Calli replies just as quietly as she scratches her chocabo's chest. "Well I think they'd take it better then if they found out by accident... which could very well happen if we stay at an Al Bhed esablishment, since somebody Al Bhed might recognize you.... Still I couldn't see any of these people really caring what race you are anyways, I mean they don't seem to hate me." Calli shrugs.

"Do any of them know you're al bhed?" Dars continued speaking in an undertone. Then he called out to Hoelun.
"Hey! Do you need a hand there?"
