Zanzar noticed that some of his companions were unarmed, so from his heavy arsenal of weapons at his waist and back, he unsheathed two swords and a small axe, throwing them in the direction of the others.

Arm yourselves! This will take everything we got!

A loud roar interrupted him from speaking any further, the sound seemed to pierce their very hearts. Once again, another blow came, except this time, it swept it's long arm towards everyone at once, knocking back a few of the others. Though they couldn't see it, they could hear it, it's giant feet making the earth shake whenever it moved. They would have to use their best weapon at the moment. Their ears.

Birgit crouched down and kept low to the ground. If the beast sturck again it would be less likely to hit her this way. Her keen ears listened the the footsteps of the beast and as they moved her eyes locked onto where she thought the sound came from.

Ria growled, and dove at the behemoth as soon as it appeared, not even thinking whether it'd be futile or not.

As Ria charged at the beast from the front Birgit launched an attack from the side. She lashed out with her dagger trying to at least to hurt it a little. Her blade was not long enough to do major damage. She could only hope to scratch it and give it something to be annoyed with as the others did more damage.

It wasn't long before Zanzar was back on his feet. Screaming at the others to give it their all, he charged the monster once again, hoping that this time, he would make his attack count. Running with incredible agility, Zanza ran along the mountain wall then pounced from it into the air, swinging his battle-axe in a cross-slash. Fortunately, he managed to lop of one of the Behemoth's giant ears, sending it back in pain. When it recovered, it charged at Zanzar, enraged that it was actually damaged by a human of all things. As it made its way towards Zanzar, he readied himself, his axe up high, waiting for the perfect time to strike.

Name: Zahd, short for Zhadfalos (sorry, I'm not good at thinking up names)
Age: 20-something-ish (he's not really sure)
Rune: "Pain" Rune (Dark-related); if it is not acceptable, I could use a standard Dark Rune (though what can that be used for?)
Nation: None. A drifter from D'hara.

Bio:
Zhad was orphaned by the ongoing D'hara civil war. At a fairly young age, he was conscripted into the government (doesn't matter which one, it's probably been deposed, restored, and deposed again several times) army. He spent much of his life fighting, slaying, and destroying, and was fairly good at it.
Zhad was put into a semi-experimental program designed increase combat effectiveness, in which the military had soldiers implanted with various (often rare, usually for good reason, and powerful) Dark runes (you know, of the Forbidden and Dangerous Power variety). There was high chance of really horrific accidents, but oh well, they were expendable (the soldiers, not the runes; soldiers are cheap, the runes are rare).
He got the accursed "Pain" Rune (probably not its real name, but it's a descriptive nickname); a unique rune; not much was known about it, but it was supposed to be powerful and dangerous (they always are). If something went wrong, they could probably salvage the rune, so they went ahead with the process.
The implantation process was extremely agonizing, almost driving him completely insane. He killed several people and then fled.
After deserting the army, he spent his time wandering the land. He made a living as bounty hunter. Though he occasionally thought of trying to follow a peaceful profession, the opportunity never seemed to arise.
He is currently pursing Kahlan's hefty bounty.
Zhad can kind of feel that something important is happening and he should be a part of it. The Rune seems to want something too...

The Pain Rune
The Rune gives him a constant, deep ache. At times, however, the severity of the pain increases, sometimes to the point where he starts to bleed. Nothing dulls the pain; not painkillers, not sleep, not unconsiousness, nothing. It's like something gnawing at the soul.
The effect of the Rune tends to be straight damage to an opponent, though he hasn't really explored its applications. Use of the rune causes pain and increases the likelyhood of a severe pain attack.
The constant pain tends to make the wielder physically tougher and stronger, as well as increasing their pain tolerance.
Few people have had the Rune, fewer still survived the implantation, and all of them were eventually driven mad and killed by the Rune. So far, there appears to be no way to remove the Rune.
The Rune sometimes seems to have a will of it's own. But if it does, it's desires are unknown. Whether it likes or dislikes pain is also unknown.

Zhad calmy walked up the mountain, following the last known route of his target.
Hmm...conflicting reports, he thought, the target, Kahlan and her 'Divine Rune' was seen to have recieved mortal wounds, but then managed to wipe out most of the fort's company.

Damn...the pain is getting worse...

Do I really want to do this? Rahl is evil. And my target is a young girl. Do I really want to do this?
Still, the bounty is quite large...

He heard the sounds of a struggle, and quickened his pace slightly.
Monsters on this mountain. It will do me no good to find that my target has been eaten.

He stopped when he saw the battle with the behemoth raging, and watched from a distance.
Hmm...wonder if they'll win? I just need the girl; the behemoth may kill some of the defenders for me.

He then saw Kahlan's body lying on the ground.
Dead. I just need the arm. It's not like she needs it anymore.
I suppose I should just wait for this fight to finish, then. he thought, leaning against the mountain to wait. No sense in helping them if I have to fight them for her later.
He sighed. I am a terrible person.
