Garrat would have mentioned the thieves, but decided against it. Instead, he simply left and went to the courtyard where the captain was sure to be waiting. "I'm here, captain. Is there anything you need from me?"

The Captain smiled and haughtily greeted the man. " Well you certainly have a new glow to you, lad! Thanks for reporting in! " he patted the man's shoulder and pointed to the stable's, "get on a horse.. I need you to keep guard in the kingdom while I escort Prince Joseph back home. He went to visit his fiancé and is on the way back here. " he stated.

Garrat nodded and mounted one of the horses. "Any more news about the thieves?" he asked. Since the parade, he hadn't heard anythinf more about the strange thefts. It was rather likely that they were still at large.

"The word is that they're only attacking nobles and wealthy country men. The royal family is a good target but it seems too much for them. So just be sure to keep a look out.... Oh! And the Queen and Lady Rosa have a request for you. " he sputtered, shaking his large bristly mustache. " They said, uhh ' If you see Manureva, tell her to come home..'. Evidently the Princess has run away and has disappeared... not quite too sure why though... But after you're patrol you'll tell her majesty and be free to do as you wish for today.." he mumbled and then with a hard pat on the back and a salute, the Captain, along with three other knights set off into the direction where to meet Joseph.

Princess Manuerva had run away? Without knowing the full story, Garrat couldn't determine why, but perhaps the near-poisoning of Nathaniel had something to do with it.
Once the captain left, Garrat rode off into town via patrol route. Perhaps he should search for Manuerva at the same time, if only to ask why she ran away or why she tried to poison her brothers. Eventually, she would have to take responsibility for her actions, but the knight wasn't the man to do anything except pass on a message and ask questions.

The day went on and Nathaniel was contently reading in his room when he noticed a man outside his window. The man held firmly, two black, iron bars and began binding them to the pane. Nathaniel watched the man leave as now.. he did feel a bird in a cage.

Reynard, who had remained in the room, began to chirp angrily as the bars were set up. Aside from the view from the window being tarnished by the black lines, whoever put up the bars most likely hurt the feelings of his master's lover.
As Garrat patrolled, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Well, some of the wealthy complained about missing valuables, but the knight paid little attention to those who couldn't give him any clues. What did they want? Reimbursement? It wasn't as easy as anyone would like it to be.

Nathaniel smiled at the little bird. It pecked and pestered at the glass. "You don't like them either, I imagine... At least you could still fly outside if you wanted to.." the Prince sighed and opened the window for the little bird. Now Nathan could not fit out of his previous escape route, but the holes were still big enough for a little bird like Reynard to fit through. Nathaniel reached out and attempted to gently pet the black bird. "If you could have anything, what would you want most little one?" he asked sweetly.
After hours should pass, be it if Garrat finished his patrol or not. The Captain had returned suddenly... bloodied..

Reynard at first humored Nathaniel by letting him pet him, only to peck at his fingers before flying away to search for Garrat. It would be boring to stay in that stuffy old room anyway.
Garrat had finished his route, only to find the captain covered in blood and wounds. "Sir?! What happened?" he demanded. "Was it an ambush?"

The captain coughed and collapsed off of his horse. He clung to Garrat and lay down in a hay bail in the stables, blood dripped to the ground as another greenhorn ran off to get the local healer. Another knight, that was with the Captain at the time, ran off to give deliver news to the Queen. The Captain spat and gasped for breath! ".. We... Never saw it coming.. One creature... No thief .... Didn't take nothin..." Tears began to fall out of the man's sad and pained eyes. "The Prince... Garrat, he's --!" He was about to deliver the harsh news when the Queen's terrible shriek rang through out the kingdom. Even Nathan heard it from his room and he frowned... What could have happened? The captain eventually stood up, hacking a bit, but waved Garrat off to go tend to the Queen. For now , in her palm was Prince Jospeh's royal ring. The news spread quickly through out the castle. The King wailed as he cried in his wife's lap.

Garrat deduced from the anguished cries that Prince Joseph had been lost in the attack. Whether he was missing or had been killed, the knight could not determine. Once dismissed, Garrat went off to meet the Queen to report to her and perhaps comfort her somehow.
If Prince Joseph was gone, then Prince Hamish would now be the heir to the throne. Remembering what he had seen in Hamish's room, Garrat began to wonder what the relationship between the prince and Richard was. Knowing that the future rulers often needed to wed and produce heirs of their own, it would be most troublesome if Hamish and Richard were together...

Nathaniel was doing things he wasn't supposed to again and took a needle and the end of his paint brush and somehow managed to pick his lock. Opening the door, he dashed down the hall and found his father and mother, dramatically sobbing sorrowful tears on the gathering room's floor. Nathan saw the ring and Hamish began to weep as well, leaning down and cried too on his father's shoulder.
Although Nathaniel frowned and was deeply saddened at the loss of his brother, the tears didn't fall. Joseph was the eldest and therefore, the most distant from Nathan. He spent most of his life becoming a fine ruler of a kingdom and ended up even, falling in love with a beautiful girl with long brunette locks, Princess of Blackern. But he only spent the most time with Hamish and the King. By the time Nathaniel was born, Joseph was 11 and already learning as much as he could about ordinances and government orders. So despite losing family, Nathan couldn't find the tears to shed.
The young prince knelt down and didn't notice Garrat coming in. When he knelt down and reached to hold his mother, she slapped him. Her nails scratched his cheek and Nathaniel jumped back and landed on his rear end, looking at his mother in contempt and pain. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT OF YOUR ROOM!?" she screamed. She was hysterical and before the King or Hamish could say or do anything, she ran off into her chambers and now the tears fell from eyes as he touched his stinging cheek.

Upon seeing the Queen slap Nathaniel, Garrat hurried over to the prince and helped him up. He would have also asked why Nathaniel was out, but decided right now wasn't the time. "Let's just go back to your room," the knight urged gently. The only thing he could really do right now is take Nathaniel back to his room before things get even worse.

Nathan looked at his knight and accepted the help to get up and walked with meek stance back to his room. Back inside he immediately scooped up little the kitten and cuddled him. His cheek burned and hissed at the pain.

Once the door was closed, Garrat sat by Nathaniel and touched the red mark on his cheek. "It's bleeding a bit," he said before cleaning it with a nearby cloth. What was going to happen now, the knight wondered.
