((Okay, cool. Thanks! sweatdrop So... I'll just... Jump in, then... I guess... -awkward-))
Kisame poked his head into the conference room, confusion apparent on his shark-ish face. "Itachi-san?" he asked, not really expecting an answer. When the answer didn't come, Kisame actually looked around the room, spotting Zetsu and Mai. He entered the room, shrugging slightly to adjust Samehada on his shoulders.
"Mai-san? Zetsu-san? Ne, do you know where Itachi is? Leader-sama only told me that he'd sent the others after Orochimaru, and that's not really helpful because Orochimaru's all over the place, you know..." His gills fluttered in the dry air, filtering out the oxygen.

A bit confused, Zetsu listened carefully to what Mai had to say. So that was why Taicho-sama had called them--the duty of capturing the Shukaku had been shifted on them. He was about to reply to let Mai know that he understood the mission when he suddenly heard Kisame's voice call out to them. Turning his head to face the former Mist nin, he could see Kisame approaching them despite the fact that the Venus flytrap got in the way.
"I believe Itachi went to Otogakure with the others to take back the ring that Orochimaru kept..."

((Heh, I hope my PM helped a bit.. Sorry, I'm bad at summaries, but I tried...))
Mai was already facing the doorway, but couldn't see anything because of Zetsu's venus flytrap in the way. But she heard Kisame's distinctive voice calling her and Zetsu's names, as he apparently entered the room.
Finally, Mai leaned around Zetsu, waving enthusiatically. "Ohayo Kisame-san. Yeah, what Zetsu-san said... We were all sent over to Otogakure to retrieve the ring Orochimaru stole, and kill him and Itachi's little brother. I don't know how they're doing over there though, because I got called back."
Mai's face darkened as she thought about how the Leader had treated her. "Anyway..", she continued, angrily, "I was ordered to return here, once I got there pretty much. Itachi-san, Deidara-san, Tobi, and Neko-san were ordered to stay. Everyone else was ordered to get the hell back here, but so far, only Zetsu-san and I were here- till you arrived... And then Taicho-sama had the nerve to threaten me, after I was the first one here!!"
By this point, Mai had made her way out from behind Zetsu and his huge venus flytrap, and was standing in front of Kisame, looking for pity or something. She just wasn't thinking straight in her renewed anger at the Leader.

Kisame waved back, with none of the enthusiasm Mai had. "Ah, of course." He walked up to the table and sat down. "Figures that the one time I realize Orochimaru's always wandering somewhere he actually is where I thought he was supposed to be." The shark-man rolled his eyes. "Again with Itachi's little brother. I get tired of hearing that. Itachi shoulda killed him along with the rest of the clan." He slumped over on the table, upset that he got pulled back from his training and he couldn't even go join the hunt.
Kisame looked up at Mai, only slightly noticing the look on her face, and tilted his head in confusion. "Something wrong, Mai-san?" He had only been half-listening to her rant.

Somehow Mai had managed to calm down a bit after venting her anger, and she walked over and joined Kisame. She laughed at his remark about Orochimaru. "Yeah, it is kinda ironic, huh? And why the hell didn't Itachi-san kill his brother anyway?... Hell, if that was me, that'd probably be the first person I'd kill. The freak's got issues.."
Mai glanced back at Zetsu, knowing the spy had heard her, and hoping that he wouldn't decide for some reason to tell Itachi in the future. But she didn't see any reason for him to, since she and Zetsu got along fairly well, and so she turned back to Kisame. She sort of felt bad for him; true, she'd been called back from the mission, but he didn't even get to go, and would have enjoyed it a lot more than she had. He was always complaining that Itachi didn't allow him enough opportunities to shave people with his sword or whatever.
Mai was about to tell him that she understood how he felt, and that things weren't really so bad, when he asked her if anything was wrong... as if he'd completely ignored her earlier rant.
Mai's anger flooded back, clouding her face as she stood. "The hell do you mean, 'is something wrong?'!? Of course it is!! I got called back from the mission, yelled at by the Leader, and now you just ignored me like 5 minute explanation of 'what was wrong'!!!"
Mai was livid, and probably would have attacked him- or really anything in her line of sight- in her anger, but Taicho-sama didn't allow fighting in the cavernous statue room, for God knows what reason. So instead, Mai turned and walked out of the room, stopping briefly as she passed Zetsu, muttering, "I'm going to get my things... We can leave in a few minutes."

Zetsu stood silently as he listened to the conversation between the two. He could sense the anger in Mai's voice as she spoke about the leader. Sure, Taicho-sama could be a bit unfair at times, but surely he had a reason for his actions. Mai would just have to learn to control her anger, lest it get the best of her. That, and Zetsu couldn't really relate to either of their plights, having only been doing some menial spy work. At least he was able to complete his work; according to Mai she had only just arrived when she was called back. The plant-man watched the girl storm off, nodding in response to her mumbled comment. He turned to follow her, glancing back at Kisame through the flytrap.
"If Taicho-sama doesn't return to give you a mission of your own, I suppose you could come with us," half of him said, the other half adding,"No need to have come without a reason."

Kisame froze as Mai erupted, looking at her with an unnerved expression. He'd never heard anyone yell quite like that. Only Hidan got remotely close, and he was around Itachi, who hardly ever raised his voice, ninety-five percent of the day. "... Well then."
He caught Zetsu's proposition through his ringing ears, and perked, turning quickly to face him. "Sure, okay!" Finally, at least a chance to kill someone. Kisame'd had to train in a deserted place, so as not to attract attention. Attention, psh. Couldn't he just skip over to the nearest village and shred a couple people in half? Apparently not.

Mai stalked angrily through the halls to her room, muttering to herself about what assholes the Leader, Kisame, and Itachi were. True, Itachi hadn't actually done anything per se, but Mai just really hated the guy and his complete lack of personality, so any chance to blame him for anything at all was gladly taken. Yes, it was obvious that Mai needed some sort of anger management class or something- after all, having worse anger problems than Hidan was really saying something.
Mai slammed open the door to her room and walked over to the bed, grabbing her kunai pouch and putting it on. She then turned to her dresser and grabbed two extra shirts and pants, and grabbed another cloak from the closet. She stuffed them all into a large backpack-like bag that she usually wore slung over her shoulder under the cloak on long missions(since by Taicho-sama's order Akatsuki members weren't supposed to wear anything to obstruct the cloak- the reason why Dei's clay bag was worn under the cloak, and why Sasori's puppet Hiruko had had a cloak on at all times), and was about to head back to the main room, when she got a wonderful idea.
She ran back to Itachi's room where she had returned the shampoo, and took it, along with his entire line of haircare products, stuffing them into her bag. When they wouldn't all fit, she took out a set of clothes, throwing them on the floor of Itachi's room and forgetting about them.
Mai walked back to the main room, a smile on her face, silently gloating about all the amazing stuff she'd just had the opportunity to take. She was still a little angry at Taicho-sama and Kisame, but her happiness at getting the amazing hair stuff outweighed her anger. And so what if everyone must think she was bipolar or something?
"'K Zetsu-san, I'm ready to go." Mai said, smiling ear to ear as she fixed her hair, and went over to pick up her broken hat.

Not one to bring much with him on missions, Zetsu had decided to stick around in the cavern after all. He pretty much had all he needed with him at all times, and didn't dwell on appearances much, so there was no need to pack a bag.
Seeing Mai return, he nodded silently in reply, but couldn't help feeling a bit confused. She had been so angry just a little while ago, but now she seemed rather happy. What had happened to change her mood so quickly? Had she thought things through and realized she was being a bit brash? Or had she simply just got over it? Zetsu unintentionally let his confusion show on his face, but remained quiet. Mai was definitly one strange girl...

Kisame also noticed Mai's sudden change in attitude, and he also declined to comment. I bet she's bipolar or something. ... He looked closer at her face. Not just happy, she looked... smug. Triumphant, almost. A grin appeared on his face. ... I bet she messed with Itachi's stuff. That's the same look I get. And no one else is scary enough to warrant a response like that when their stuff's messed with. Kisame didn't care enough to guess what exactly Mai had done, but just seeing that look on her face made him grin to himself.
"You two're supposed to keep a low profile, yeah?"
((Um... Is this before or after the timeskip? sweatdrop ))

((After. 3nodding ))
Turning to Kisame, he could see that the shark-man was grinning to himself as well. Did he know something that Zetsu didn't? Zetsu felt a bit left out at the apparent joke, but put it aside and replied to the man's question.
"Yes, at first at least. But it would be best not to draw attention to ourselves when capturing the jinchuuriki. He will probably fight back, so we should be careful..." he trailed off, his thoughts being occupied by possible plans to isolate the Shukaku's host.

Kisame nodded slightly. "Mm. Okay. ... Wait. Isn't this Sasori and Deidara's job?" He remembered back when they'd been given their assignments, he and Itachi had been given the Kyûbi and Sasori and Deidara had been assigned to Shukaku.
The shark-man stood up anyway, glad for a chance to get out and actually wreak some havoc, even if he didn't really get to kill anyone.

"I don't know about having to be sooo careful Zetsu-san. I mean, I heard Suna is kind of lacking in skilled shinobi of late, but whatever. I just don't know how I'm going to get to him without bringing any attention to us is all- but I guess Taicho-sama has you for that." Mai laughed.
"You just better not get me killed trying to find some 'strategic' way to the Ichibi jinchuuriki."
Mai placed her hat gingerly on her head, trying not to break it any more, and silently cursing herself for having thrown it earlier.
Walking back over to Zetsu and Kisame, she said, "Okay, I'm ready, let's go! And yeah... the Ichibi was Deidara and Sasori's job. I was assigned the Yonbi's jinchuuriki originally, so I don't know what the hell is going on. But, better for me, because I still have no idea where that damned jinchuuriki could be. I still don't like getting shoved onto someone else's assignment though..."
Mai started walking towards the exit, but then stopped and turned back to Kisame. "But wait, I don't see what your problem is Kisame-san. I mean, my jinchuuriki is just one of those impossible to find ones- but you and Itachi, you guys had so many opportunities to capture the Kyuubi, and you just screwed up. You should be happy that maybe now you can redeem yourself by helping to get the Ichibi..." Mai shrugged, and turned back towards the exit to the caverous room. It was true, he and Itachi screwed up, and now he was saying this was supposed to be Sasori and Deidara's assignment. Whatever..
((Heh, sorry if that Yonbi thing confused anyone. Supposedly the Yonbi is the term for the four-tails, and its actual name is Soukou. Just like Akatsuki refer to Gaara's demon as Ichibi, meaning one-tails, but its name is Shukaku. I don't get why each demon has 2 terms, but they do, a title like Ichibi, or Nibi, or Yonbi, and then their actual name, Shukaku, Nekomata, Soukou, etc... Damned confusing..))

Kisame was tempted to stick his tongue out at Mai, despite how remarkably childish that would have been. "Pshh. I don't have a problem with it, I was just a little confused, okay?" He followed her to the exit, lacing his fingers behind his head. Kisame declined to say anything about the redeeming comment, mostly because he didn't want to start another argument.. Itachi-san and I didn't... screw up. Itachi just kept dragging it out. ... He didn't let me cut the jinchuuriki's legs off. And then we kept getting interrupted.

"Don't underestimate your opponent. Especially when you've never seen said opponent fight before," was all Zetsu replied with as he followed the two to the exit. There was no need for Mai to worry over her safety with Zetsu around--such things were his forte, so he should be able to find the quickest, quietest, and easiest way to the Ichibi with little trouble. Hopefully.
