Lynett laughs a bit as well upon hearing that. "Well... he's not alone in that, trust me." She admits. She'd always been able to avoid wearing her princess's crown/circlet to formal functions. One time she'd 'accidentally' dropped it in a lily pond to avoid wearing it when younger. Actually... Lynett smiles softly, wondering to herself just how many silly court things she could do away with before the nobles started to freak out. Things certainly would be different from her parents' reign.

Nigel chuckled "Someone needs to announce to the people what has happened" Nigel said, closing his eyes.

Lynett stopped laughing and smiling at that. "Oh right." She mutters, then sighs and nods. "I suppose I'll need to do that." She comments. She didn't love to give speeches, but she'd have to get used to that in the near future she supposed.

"I know." She replies unhappily. Lynett turns from Nigel and walks to the door, stopping a servant as he passed by. Lynett explains everything that had happened, then tells him to go wake the other servants so they could go tell everybody to go to the ballroom, where she'd give the announcement of what had happened. Once the man was gone, Lynett sighs and steps back into the throne room, thinking on everything that needed to be done.

Naien had listened silently as the both of them talked. She was thinking many things. For one, she had to figure out how to begin training Kane. It would not be easy, considering his personality. And though she was still young and in need of training herself, she knew that as future king he had to come first. The though of him being king made her sigh. Her in the Princess had a lot of work ahead of them. Then there was the fact that she had to find a way to extend his life. Elves outlived humans hundreds of years. She'd have to call in a favor to the royal book-keepers on that one.
She watched Nigel as he spoke. Despite the fact that he was in a different body, he was the same as before. The same cool and collected teacher that she had looked up to. She was a bit hesitent on speaking to him. It had been a long time. And she couldn't forget the fact that she had been to one to cut his life short. Though she knew it wasn't her fault, it still pained her.
As the Princess went to inform the servants Naien began to go down the steps, offering a small nod of acknowledgement to Nigel. She wanted to do more. Say something. After all, he had been the first and only person she had ever had any sort of feelings of love for. What kind of love....she wasn't entirely sure. Nai settled on thinking sibling-like love. Since the other kind was...out of the question.
She was head of the royal guard. Those types of feelings are not allowed. And he was, technically, dead. There was no point in thinking about it further. She had tons of things to do. It was about time she started doing them.

Nigel turned to look at Nai "Ah, Nai" he said with a smile "You have grown" he said "And you have grown strong" he continued, & then frowned "But you have not grown wise. A wise man is able to be strong without having to draw a sword; to win fights with words" he added "Your training will be finished once you have grown wise" he said to her

Naien stiffened and paused as she heard his voice directed to her. He was right, of course. If she had been wiser she could have done more in the situation. She had a long ways to go.
Slowly she turned to his direction. With a small sigh she frowned and glanced at the far wall, "I am sorry, Nigel. As your pupil I should have learned more from your example. I am still young and foolish...." Her voice trained off as she looked to the ground. Her wisdom was still very limited. There was so much for her to learn. And not much time to learn it in.
"I'm sorry...," Nai said again, her voice more brittle. This time she was referring to many other things. "And if you'll excuse me....there is much to be done." She bowed in respect, not meeting his eyes, and began down the steps once more.

"While you are not finished in your training, you are nearing the end" Nigel said, placing a hand on Nai's shoulder "Do not blame yourself for what happened tonight. It was fated to happen" he added "My time has come. I will watch you, always, Nai. I will be waiting for you" Nigel added, & Nigel/Kane closed his eyes, & collapsed to the ground

Nai almost jumped to feel his hand on her. But as he fell her reflexes kicked in and she was able to catch him before he hit the ground. "Waiting...," she said in a whisper, "Yes..." Before she knew what was happening, she was bent over him, placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
She quickly realized she was doing something very wrong, and detached herself from him. With a finger tips on her lips she made a confused face. The hell had that been about? Her eyes darted around, hoping no one had seen. Nonetheless she felt her pale face grow a bit warm. Embarassing. She tried to shake the incident from her mind.
Straightening his body with her arm, she lifted him and temporarily put him on the throne. Naien backed away and stared at him. It somehow looked right....in a strange way.

Lynett remained deep in thought while they talked, thinking about the speech she'd have to give soon, not snapping out of it until she suddenly saw Nigel/Kane collapse to the floor. "Kane!" She shouts in surprise and concern, then runs across the throne room to where he had collapsed. Lynett crouches down next to him as Nai catches him, then pauses, seeing what she did. Somehow, she knew she was saying goodbye to Nigel, not Kane. Lynett looks away, equally embarrassed at having seen what obviously wasn't meant for another to see. Once Kane was placed on the throne, Lynett stands and walks over, waiting for him to wake.

Naien sighed as she placed a hand over her face, realizing that the Princess had seen. It was not like her to be embarassed, but given the situation it was logical.
"Sorry, Princess. I don't know what came over me.... It was an accident," Nai muttered softly. She just hoped that Lynett understood that she had no feelings like that for Kane. In fact she was glad that she the Princess had fround someone to love. The girl deserved it. And she also hoped that Kane was knocked out enough not to have felt a thing...

"Ugh... my head" Kane moaned, rubbing his forehead "Feels like someone's been wailing on me with a sledgehammer for 5 hours" he muttered "Anyone have an aspirin or some other pain killer?" he asked

Lynett glances to Nai and nods. "Its alright. I'll miss him too." She comments, though she felt maybe Nai might miss the guardsman a bit more. Nigel had been her protector when she'd been a child, but he'd been Nai's mentor and probably friend, if not more. Lynett might not have been very understanding, if she hadn't found love herself recently. Hearing Kane let out a moan, Lynett turns back to him, then shakes her head at his question. "Sorry, no aspirin on this world I'm afraid." She replies quietly. "We can stop by the healers, though, before heading to the ballroom." She adds, wondering how much he knew of what had happened while he'd been under Nigel's control.

"The ballroom?" Kane asked "Oh, to announce what happened" Kane added "And I'd appreciate that; word of advice; don't share your body with a spirit. Really drains the energy out of you"
