i went to outback steakhouse last week for lunch, and the entire time i could barely keep myself from laughing since everything reminded me of The Last Continent. I know that was the point of the book, but still it was hilarious.

What's an Outback Steakhouse? Do they serve kangaroo? It's pretty good, you eat the tail. Emu's better but kangaroo's good. Never eaten a wombat. I can understand why too, I'd prefer to take my chances with an angry bull roo than with a disgruntled wombat.

Isn't bloomin' an american hill billy slang term? I don't think I've ever heard someone here say it. Onion sounds good though, it should be flamin' onion, then they could get Alf from Home and Away to do the ads. Do you guys get Home and Away in the US or is it only the poms?

Home and Away is a bad Aussie soap opera (no worse than any other soap around though) and probably the second most succesful media export in Australia, after Neighbours, another soap. It's huge in England and a bunch of wierd random countries like India. A pom is anyone from England, I don't know where the term comes from, I don't think it's Australian in origin. A pommy backpacker is a backpacker from England, they're far more irritating than normal poms and tend to gather in huge numbers around where I live in summer. They often celebrate christmas (we have christmas in summer) by rioting on Bondi beach and throwing beer bottles at the police.

Wow! Austarlia sounds a lot different from America. I've never heard the word "pom" before.
..I had a student teacher from Australia and he brought some plastic money back. It was cool. He passed it around and you could wrinkle it up and it would bounce back into place. 3nodding

The Brits have won out against the Americans in Most Annoying Tourists!! We have to get to work, people! More smoking, more flash photography! For god sakes, complain about the cultural dishes form the region not being like the ones they had at stereotypical resteraunts "at home in the real world"! If you aren't fat and red-faced, you're not even allowed to leave! You're painting too good of an image of America! They have to hate us so we have a reason to go to war and htin out our numbers!

You have to realize something. Israel (where I am right now) is the place that generates the most unkindly-rude-selfish-basterd tourists ever. If an israeli tourist would be allowed to approach the mona lisa, he would take it with an awkward whistle. then disappear into his hotel room, roll it up, and catch a flight home where he would hang it up and brag about it ( never did that, I swear). But it's ok, because I love it here like that. I am not antisemetic, don't worry.
