The elephant obviously wasn't writing because it has writers block. With it being a block I can see how that would easily get lodged in the elephants throat so it only had to be wide enouh at some point to touch bother walls of the non-consticted throat-flesh.
I'd say you're block is close to cubic with the length of at least one side being about 8 or 9 inches.
Edit: And to get the block in it's mouth I'd say it's no more than 14 inches along the other side so you're dealing with a block of approx 512-1764 cubic inches of writers block.
... ya, you pretty much need a muse to deal with that. I don't recall the number though... sorry.
