Kurama nodded once as he sat down a comfortably close distance from the fire apparition, glad that he wasn't the only one who wanted to rest. He leaned towards Hiei a bit, not making contact, and closed his eyes, allowing them to rest. They ached badly and already his vision was slightly blurred.

Hiei shifted slightly, touching the cuff around his wrist gently with his fine, yet somehow delicate fingers. Out of curiosity, he allowed a flicker of heat to warm the steel ever so lightly, as not to hurt the fox.
His eyes hurt as well, but he kept them open. He chuckled suddenly.
"Kurama," he said, brushing his shoulder against the other softly. "I've decided how you're going to repay me for this mess we're in."

When the shoulder brushed against his own and he felt the faint heat on his wrist, Kurama's eyes opened just a bit, but not entirely, like his eyes were readjusting to the light his eyelids shielded them from. "Really, Hiei? How?" he questioned, much curiousity in his voice.

The koorime paused, letting his head rest against the tree. "The second we return home, you will make me a large cup of that warm drink I like."
He watched the fox's expression, merely out of amusement. He knew Kurama knew what he was talking about. He knew better than anyone how Hiei had taken an immediate liking to hot cocoa. It was a funny sight. But, this request was sort of a silly one. Kurama probably would've made him some if he'd just asked anyway.

Kurama blinked. That request had been awfully simple. "Are you sure that would be adequate repayment? You know I wouldn't mind doing that for you any time."
That was true. But then, there wasn't much he would mind doing for Hiei, and if there was anything like that, he surely wouldn't ask.

Hiei had smirked at the fox's blink. "I'm sure," he said. "unless you'd prefer to be my slave."
That image had worked another smirk out of the demon. In his mind's eye, he saw himself ordering around an aproned Kurama with chains around his ankles.
It was good that he was getting into a better mood. It made things easier and more bearable.

"A slave? That might be entertaining," the fox teased, unable to hide a small grin. A very interesting prospect, though it wasn't something he prefered to really go through with.
"What would you do with me, hm, Hiei?" It wasn't a serious question, but none-the-less he wanted to hear an answer.
Both were in much better moods, it seemed. Time away from those insane women probably helped immensely.

Now Hiei blinked. He hadn't expected Kurama to ask that, and he was slightly rattled. He fumbled around for an answer. Preferably an answer that wouldn't come off as weird.
"First, I would have you lick the dirt from my boots" he stopped. Maybe that was a bit weird. "and you would make that drink for me every night. Most importantly, you would kill the fool in his sleep for me."
The last part referred to Kuwabara. Though he wasn't entirely serious about that. Well, almost.
Looking to the side, he didn't dare make eye contact. He wasn't sure about Kurama's reaction. To the first part, mainly.

Kurama raised an eyebrow, amusement still evident on his face. "That's not anything creative. I'd rather not lick your boots, and as for killing Kuwabara, I'd be sent to prison, and we can't have that."
His answers were quite typical, but too well thought out... it seemed as though he was trying to sound Hiei-ish, which was strange. So much for him not sounding out of the ordinary. And him avoiding the fox's gaze; that was strange, too.
"Well, is that the best you can think of?"

"Tch," Hiei jerked his head to the side softly, as if offended by the last question. What the hell did Kurama want from him, a list?
"What about you, then, fox? What would you do if you were my slave?" he asked somewhat snappishly, now looking at the other with half-false irritation. It suddenly occured to him that this was probably the weirdest conversation he'd ever had with the red-head. He wondered what the others would say.

Hiei apparently hadn't caught that it was a rhetorical question. But then, he supposed that was to be expected. He wasn't exactly familiar with such a concept, and the fire demon took things too seriously.
"If I were to be your slave? Of course I would take care of you, tending to whatever need or desire you may have, as the title would imply," the fox said, catching the Koorime's eyes with his own. This time, it was harder to be sure whether he was just playing or not. Kurama had sounded sincere enough.

The koorime's crimson eyes were locked into Kurama's, hard yet somehow soft. As his gaze was held, he found it hard to disengage himself. Kurama had sounded odd in his response, and his answer did not hold the lining of a tease, as far as Hiei could tell.
The demon very much wanted to be able to be in the safety and privacy of a tree right now. Kurama certainly had a knack for making him uncomfortable lately. Shifting awkwardly, he finally managed to tear his eyes away.
"I think all those years in the Ningenkai have made you insane." he said dryly, turning his wrist in the cuff so that it was more comfortable. Even though it wasn't unbearably tight, it had rubbed on him and he was slightly red there.

Now /that/ was a true Hiei-like response. Just entirely disregarding the point to insult the fox. Though it did seem like a cover up in a way... he had averted his gaze just before.
But what he was worried about was the fire demon's wrist; it was reddening. So he shifted his own wrist to accommodate him even better, not caring that it was slightly uncomfortable for himself.
"Really? Insanity is more enjoyable than I thought..." he trailed off a bit, since his point had gone through. He wasn't in the mood to argue over such a silly thing.

The youkai rolled his eyes. "Just pray that I don't decide to take pity and put you out of your poor, insane misery." he said, more to blur his earlier awkward behavior.
Hiei felt Kurama's shift and looked down at their binded wrists. His wrist wasn't being rubbed or pinched anymore, but now Kurama's would be if he moved any. Sometimes he just couldn't understand the fox. He did such mindless things.
Though he suddenly glared at his stomach. It was growling again. It was remembered how much the females were hated.
Hiei needed to distract himself. Unsheathing his katana, he held it pointed away from himself and his companion, running his thumb along the blade, looking lazily into his own reflection. When his thumb reached the tip, he pressed hard and removed it. The thin red line along the flesh was only visible for a moment as it filled, red running down the curve of his thumb and past his palm.
((Whoo. Sorry for being random. xD))

Kurama watched the other, oddly entranced by what he was doing, then seeing the crimson blood flow freely from the wound. And then something struck him. Just why hadn't the kitsune put a halt to that? Such a thing was hardly smart.
Oh, and the red-head was the insane one. What then did that make Hiei? Normal or sane certainly didn't fit him. The fire apparition had even looked confused when he had tried to aid him, not seeming to get the message. Or maybe he did and found it stupid?
