Garrat seemed so flustered and .. Sad even... But then he helped Nathan to his feet and handed him his dreadful medicine. With frowned, puffed up cheeks Nathan reluctantly did so, and with a pained expression, he forced himself to swallow it down.
Tilting his head after he had picked up the bed sheets and pillows and carefully put them back, he sat down. " so where did you go? Did you figure out what you wanted for your birthday yet " he asked waving for Garrat to sit next to him after he scooped up his little kitten.

Right, it was time for Garrat to break the news. Good or bad first? Perhaps bad. "Your mother summoned me. She has informed me that, according to tradition, I must now be a formal knight, under the captain's orders. For that reason, I won't be guarding you as often as before," he said. "While I'm absent, she told me to ensure that you won't leave this room." He looked right into Nathaniel's eyes if only to convey the unwillingness he had about that.

Nathan sighed as Garrat continued to purposefully avoid his other question. Garrat's gaze seemed so sad and yet, Still, slumped down on to his bed in a sad sigh and crossed his legs. ".. Oh... So it'll be like when you started training. Well, that'll be alright, I can watch you from a safe distance at least, like when you used to learn .... Whatever you .. Learn as a knight.. " he sighed, clearly not understanding just what Garrat was meaning. He remember when Garrat began his training long ago. And how lonely he would get when he was stuck in his bedroom.. Sick. But it wasn't so bad, Garrat looked so cool learning to fight and use a shield! " but, I am sorry.. I didn't think my mother would bother you for my wrong doing " he said and leaned on Garrat..

Garrat shook his head. "I might not be here on some days," he said a bit more clearly. "In any case, since I won't be able to supervise you. Your mother didn't scold me, really. She just... made a tough request: I'll have to... lock your room when I'm away." He expected Nathaniel to be a bit used to being locked in, but Garrat didn't want to be the one to do the locking.

Nathan paused, now taking in the exact news just given. If Garrat was gone, that meant he'd have to be locked away in his room. Not uncommon, but for Garrat to be gone and he gets locked in the room.. he'd have to be alone? Again?... No.. now he had Basette .. so it would be okay then.. right? Forcing a smile and pursing his lips, he sighed heavily. "That's uh.. that'll be alright.. I'll.. be perfectly fine.. " he nodded. "After all, you are a my fine knight... A Knight of the Kingdom and the world needs to see you .... At least I won't be completely alone with out you though.. " he smiled, trying to maintain his optimism as he pet his little naked friend.
"I've been locked up before... After all, this is.. my fault "he smiled. Then, placing the little kitten on a pillow, he giggled and essentially tackled Garrat with a happy hug around his neck from behind! Laughing in his ear he playfully nuzzled the knight's neck, "I'll be alright..." he murmured quietly in Garrat's ear and giggled.

Garrat was irked when Nathaniel giggled and had to push him away when he began to nuzzle his neck. "Control yourself, Nathaniel. What if someone gets the wrong idea?" He was a bit panicked, as he was starting to react in very inappropriate ways, thoughts and temptations trying to take over his mind.

Nathan fell back on his bed at Garrat pushing him away. What was this? Why did it ... feel sort of sharp..in his chest? It was that feeling again. That stingingly sad feeling when his siblings look at him. Like the tearing of his heart when his own father can't look him in the eye. But.. why?.. Why from his best friend?
He looked at his own hands at first and then looked back Garrat... and then smiled again. He didn't want Garrat to know what he was feeling and he huddled in a corner of his bed, giving the knight his space. "I understand.." he grinned and got up and walked over to his closet. " Well, I'm going forth and getting ready for bed.." he closed the door to his closet and sort of.. sat there a while.. quietly.
The boy had to wonder... just what Garrat thought of him and began to assume that he had pushed too much of his feelings on to Garrat. That perhaps.. Garrat was just .. company .. a friendly body guard. Perhaps to Garrat saw Nathan as only a friend.. and nothing more. Of course he was wrong but Nathan didn't know that. Nathan would soon find some special way to tell Garrat how he felt.. maybe...
He continued to dress for bed and slipped on his night gown. Eventually coming out with a content smile. These bombarding, shredding feelings in his chest would have to be hidden away. For now. The prince would try something else later as he returned to Garrat's side, but still being sure to keep his distance. But for now, he'd stay quiet and content.. like always. He was fidgeting a bit, but he'd be sure to keep his distance... (or at least he'll try).
"Garrat, do you ever braid your hair..? Can I try it?" he asked, changing the subject. Or maybe... he'd take the opportunity to share his feelings?

Garrat would much rather keep his hair as it was, but he felt that he should humor Nathaniel a bit. Today was a rather hard day for him. "Alright, but only for now," he said as he sat still for the prince. He would probably have to straighten his hair out again before leaving the room, or at least before Nathaniel's nana comes in.
"Nathaniel, I suggest you leave your childishness behind soon. You need to try to become independent, and that won't happen if you continue to act as you do." Nathaniel's childishness tended to make Garrat want to take care of him, which seemed to encourage the prince to remain dependent. It wasn't good, really.

The pince reached out and Garrat's soft, long hair was in his delicate fingers. It was almost astonishing, actually, how soft Garrat's hair really was. For a knight, he really has a great scalp of hair. Intertwining the locks together in a stylish weave made Nathan smile... Until his friend spoke sternly about independence...
For some reason, those words stung him again and he frowned. The way Garrat sounded almost made him cry. His heart just wanted Garrat to be the same as before... Sort of. He cleared his throat and held back tears. " I guess you're right... But, what brought this on all of a sudden? You sound like you're leaving for good...? " he half-heartedly giggled, finding it almost difficult to laugh.
The knight was just doing his job... He probably only wanted Nathan's best interests at heart.... Heart? A small grin spread across his face. He sort of drew closer to the braided as he finished his hair. "Done..... But... Did you figure out what you wanted for your birthday?" He asked, reaching out to touch Garrat's hand with his own cold one.

Leaving for good? No, Nathaniel had it completely wrong. In truth, Garrat was thinking mainly about preserving his life so he could stay near the prince for as long as possible. Such a thing won't happen if the prince's seemingly careless actions brought about suspicion of their relationship. Considering Nathaniel's innocence, Garrat assumed others would think the knight was the corrupter.
Upon mention of his birthday, Garrat sighed. He partly hoped Nathaniel would just drop the birthday gift thing. "I told you I don't need anything," he said, but supposed the prince won't stop until he found out what Garrat wanted. "As for what I want, I'll tell you when I find something else. My current desire is too much for you, no matter how close we are." He pulled his hand away. "Try not to act in such a way that will incite me to do something I'll regret."

Those last words sent shivers up Nathan's spine and he scooted back. So.. Garrat surely didn't feel that way towards Nathan. What could Nathan incite in his friend? Perhaps his training was more than what Nathan expected.
He pursed his lips and pulled back from Garrat. "I'm sorry.." he muttered quietly. Staying optimistic, suddenly became very hard and his hands rolled into fists as it became so hard to keep quiet now. "...so.. you really don't then... " he muttered to himself out loud. It was hard to keep himself from crying. No tears were present, but the frown was there. Nathaniel always kept believing that, if there was just one person in this world whom he truly loved and they truly loved him, be it Family or not, then he would a reason to survive each and every one of his crippling diseases. Now... maybe he was being too selfish...
He crawled up and into bed. Much earlier than usual and held his little kitten close, trying to force another smile. "Right then... I certainly don't want to end up bleeding by making you mad..." A small chuckle escaped his throat," I didn't mean to force my feelings on to you.. maybe it best then.. tonight, you stay in bed...." Nathan thought it best..."And you don't have to train me.. You'll be too busy now, right? So don't worry about it..." he lay on his side, back facing his friend, Never knowing the actual plan about the training. " you're right... I need to better learn self-control... I'm sorry for.. " he gave a last sigh before hiding under the covers, his smile gone as he hadn't the courage to finish that last sentence. He wasn't mad as so much as hurt... he thought at least.

Nathaniel's words confused Garrat greatly. Forcing his feelings? The knight was so preoccupied with those words that he didn't hear anything else. Immediately, he turned toward the lump under the blankets where Nathaniel was. "You said something about feelings?" he asked as he pulled back the covers. His hopes were starting to get the best of him. "Do you... love me?"

Garrat was digging him out of the covers and at first, it made him panic at first. His naked kitten ran off and Nathan was left curled up into a ball, covering his head. Then the soldiers question beckoned his ears and he slowly turned over and with a frown and looked Garrat in the eyes. His cheeks a little red.
"Of course I do... how can I not Garrat? You've been with me for so long.. I-" he looked away and grabbed his covers and hid under them once again. "But you obviously don't feel the same way... and why should you? I'm just a burden of flesh anyway.. not to mention a man... So.. don't fret Garrat... I'm not hurt anymore ..." he mumbled sadly under his blanket.

Garrat couldn't believe his ears. "No, you've got it all wrong. All this time..." he trailed off, trying to find the words. He pulled off the covers again and stared into Nathaniel's eyes. "I've been loving you for so long." At this point, he could no longer control himself and closed the distance between their lips. It was pure bliss.
