"Great! Now that we have a hunting patrol, let's get going," Solarstar said. She turned to her apprentice. "Ready for your assessment?" she asked as she started leading the patrol out of camp.

Silverhawk followed her leader with one eye on the kits. Wolfkit and Tawnykit are such good friends' Silverhawk thought.

Once in the territory, Solarstar paused. She turned to her apprentice. "Alright Cloudpaw. Let's just see how well you're coming along. I want you to go off and hunt for a while, and I'll be watching you secretly. I'll come out when I've seen enough," she explained. "Silverhawk. Dreameyes. While Cloudpaw is hunting, you can hunt as well. I'll hunt a bit myself, but I'll mostly be watching Cloudpaw, ok?"

"Clear as water." Cloudpaw replied, is wasnt really secretly, if Cloudpaw knew that Solarstar would be watching. Plus she was an excellent hunter, this should be easy. The first day of training she had caught a squirrel, something that apprentices her age were just beginning to do.

"Alright then. Good luck and may Starclan light your path," Solarstar said as she flicked her tail for her apprentice to begin. The leader waited for Cloudpaw to go off a bit before looking at the two warriors. She nodded for them to go off hunting.

Cloudpaw sprinted to territory, already getting in the motion of things. she went to the best hunting grounds, and quickly went into her crouch as she smelt a mouse hiding in the brush, nibbling on a seed. She crouched forward, as silently as a humming bird in flight. Then she pounced and landed perfectly, she quickly killed it with a bite, then hoped that Solarstar was already watching.

Silverhawk padded into the forest looking for prey as her leader had said.

Solarstar smiled as her warriors left to hunt. She waited a few moments to give Cloudpaw a head start before following her apprentice. She crept up slowly on her apprentice, staying downwind as she watched Cloudpaw hunt. She's come along well, even without me teaching too much... I'm surprised, the leader thought. She decided to give her apprentice some time alone as she hunted on her own. After getting some distance between herself and Cloudpaw, she sniffed the air and suddenly tensed up. Fox! Suddenly the fox jumped out from the side and barreled into Solarstar. The leader rolled and didn't have time to get up and strike back before the fox sunk its teeth into her back, picking her up and shaking her. The fox released her and Solarstar hit a tree, yowling in pain at the impact and the bleeding bite wound in her back.

Silverhawk heard a yowl and wondered. Hmm...I wonder. Then she smelled something that was not a good sign. FOX
but the scent was slightly stale. Must have been a few hours ago. Hopefully nobody came acrossed it.

Dreameyes whipped his head around when he heard a yowl of pain. He soon scented blood and said "Solarstar!" Quickly he turned and ran towards the scent of blood. Catching the scent of fox he screeched in fury as he jumped forward and tackled the fox away from Solarstar. Fur standing upwards he hissed and attacked claws unsheathed.

Tawneykit's nose perked up, Fox!! She thought, swiftly chasing after the trail.

Wolfkit scrambled after Tawnykit. "Wait! If there's a fox shouldn't we stay here?"
Silverhawk heard more noise and started running to it. I wonder what happened,she thought.

The fox growled at Dreameyes and launched at Dreameyes, teeth barred. Solarstar looked up and saw Dreameyes and the fox fighting. She tried getting up to fight, but a surge of pain in her right back leg and back stopped her from standing. Starclan, help me! Help Dreameyes! she prayed as she growled to fight the pain.
