That would indeed by a misconception. However, that was also not my meaning.
Fulfillment in life can never be surrounded by happiness, because happiness is never constant. My referral to happiness was more taken from Maslow's hierarchy of needs rather than happiness is something we all want.
Happiness is not so much a want, but a need that is a combination of esteem, safety, and love/belonging. No one can ever achieve fullness in life without those three things.
Gadgets, inventions, and capitalism are all aspects of a lie. Yes, I am being hypocritical right now, because I enjoy all three of those things immensely.
Nevertheless, they are still all a lie.
Society wants us to believe that gadgets and inventions, clothes, and everything we can buy is what will make us happy. But at the end of the day, when all our money is gone and we are surrounded by things we do not need, and no longer want, we are never happy, nor fulfilled, at least not permanently.
