User ImageTeddie! RAWR!!!!

The figure seemed to respond to the ice with a similar tactic to before, though this time with three rockets. The bear Raised his claw as it they moved closer, aiming to swat them down as they came close, like one of those Kung Fu Movies Chie-chan was always watching.....Only for them to blow up in his face.
"Raaaaaa-Owwwwww. That really hurt." Teddie called, an almost comical crisp about him as he raised his card again, before springint towards the figure with a lot of rapid squeaks. Squeak squeak, Squeak Squeak...
"Bear!Sona!" he called, breaking the card at last to send out a slightly less costly spell at the figure, as if testing him. Perhaps....

Yue Adomachi
"Unfortunate Junior Brother, Hermit's Philosopher, and Scrappy Protector"

Yue grimaced. Okay, bad idea. Didn't seem phased by it one bit, and just tossed that girl aside. Boy, now I'm kinda glad I'm not on his side either. He thought to himself. He watched as Orv did something he wasn't that familiar with, but he could pick up that it was going to make whatever came next hurt like hell. Calling on Aufhocker once again for a little boost of his own, he didn't have much to brace himself with, other than to use the moment to cast a raise on his evasion and his aim. Just as he glowed, doing so, he stepped back to avoid the charge from Rena, before grabbing the back of her shirt and pulling her backwards. Balling his hand into a fist, he readied a hit. "Eh, sorry about this, but..."He muttered, throwing his fist into her gut in an attempt to knock the wind out of her, then tossing her clear out of the way of either him or Orv. No doubt he had to hurt Rena, keep her off him, but at the same time he didn't want to subject her to another strike from her own ally. That key thing looked painful enough. He looked to Orv, taking a sort of stance to watch for what he was going to do.

Nix thought they had him. Thought their combined attacks would at least knock him unconscious so that they could rejoin the others up ahead. Though it seemed that Keamy was far tougher than they realized. The damage done to him was clear but he was still holding strong. As if that wasn't bad enough the man also proved he had physical attacks that were long ranged by using his Persona! After the card shattered and held her arms up to at least protect her head since there was no way she could avoid the attack all together.

Nix could feel the invisible chains lash away at her body, leaving several bruises by the time it was over. She would be fibbing if she said that didn't hurt.. What ever that attack was the girl didn't want it to happen again since she highly doubted she would fair very well after a second wave of that. Though she was in a great amount of pain she couldn't waste anymore time or energy on healing herself. Right now the team member needed to focus her attacks on Keamy. Who knows what else he would do if they didn't act fast and try to take him down. So she stuck to her original plan and kept her distance so that he couldn't trap her in hand-to-hand combat. Sure Nix had her blade but it might not do any good against this opponent. For now her spells had to do the trick as she launched another electric spell.

Martin Keamy, the Shadow Soldier

Oh, at this rate he was just going to be toying with them before long, wasn't he? He was already, of course, but they wouldn't be able to resist if he hit them with a few more of those spell, if he broke a couple of bones in their legs, maybe. Already in the mind of the soldier he was devising ways that he could pick them apart further, that he could bring this fight to a definitive conclusion. It was clear that when it came to fighting, he was far more adept. Sure, their persona might pack more of a punch than his, but he was also significantly more durable with his combat fatigues and vest, his body cut and solid from years of physical training, torturous days spent in boot camps for all the mercenary and military groups that he had once served together with. Pain was nothing to him, and while damage was, he fought on. He could outlast the two of them, and with this new power, he was sure that he could beat them. "And I bet that 'death' came fast, didn't it? In an instant, you barely even feel the pain of dying," he countered, knowing where this argument had likely stemmed from...those who had experienced something akin to death rarely escaped without fear or trauma, unless it had been instant, "do you know what it's like to have the life slowly squeezed out of you? To feel it drain from your body parts one-by-one, losing control over movement...over sight...over hearing...all while still experiencing the most intense pain you can imagine? ...You don't know anything about death. Here, let me show you..." Turning to face them he extended his finger again, ready to match them spell-for-spell to see how they might hold up against him. He smirked, and with a click of his finger the card shattered!

...And did nothing! "s**t...!" he cursed as he felt a sudden wave of exhaustion hit him all at once. He had been operating on sheer willpower for a while now, ignoring the repeated strikes of lightning which nearly shut him down and the fire which burned at his body. And then to use physical spells had been a direct drain on his stamina...had he really? Was the price for all of that really this great from the start? Suddenly, it seemed, that while his experience in battle had been an advantage, his lack thereof with a persona had betrayed him. He was weakened and that was all Nix needed for her spell to launch at a target without the help of his persona. Realizing his predicament he moved with all his instinct and reaction in a dive to the right...but it still within the radius of the blast, he was tossed violently against the wall to the side of the room where he rolled and hit back-against the wall, slumped there in a mixture of sudden-onset exhaustion and the pain that was beginning to return to him. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a key with that glowed, a lift on he far side of the room rising in response. He tried to stand to activate the lift but slipped, and the key dropped down beside him, just out of his arm's reach...but he couldn't find the strength to move and grab it.

Slumping back again, he cast a small Dia spell...he had his magic, if he didn't have his health. But he was all but beaten by sheer exhaustion. Persona drained you in a way that combat could never train you for. He hadn't known...s**t, if he had only known. "Well, s**t," he cursed again, looking at the key. he reached behind his back where the antenna of a radio extended and shook his head, exasperated by his own mistake, "don't think you'd want to hand me that Lift Key, would ya?" He quipped, possibly to piss them off just a little more. Still couldn't believe this was how it would go...

Shadow Soji
[Tartarus - 208th Floor]

User Image
It was becoming a morbid routine now, the red-haired girl going from lift-to-lift and ascending the stairs where necessary, finding herself wandering into an open area after some number of stairs with her breath and legs and very will to continue ready to give out, standing upon the edge of a knife. There she would stop and stand before the ghost of the person whom she had once loved, his darker half taunting her with what had been, rewriting inside of her mind what truly had been after all, what might have been, and convincing her that everything ill that had happened, all the bad that came and was yet to come were in some fashion her own fault. Nothing she could do or say seemed to change this routine, and while she had vehemently denied her accuser at first, she was wearing down now. Where she had before found herself driven by a fierce determination to find her Senpai, to take down his shadow with her own fragile hands if necessary, now she was simply ascending the tower in search of answers. However, the hardest questions to answer were the ones that she was continually asking herself now; was the love that they had really as strong as she had imagined? Was it her taking him for granted that had given birth to this monsters that taunted her every step of the way up this tower? What could she have done differently? What was she going to say to him if she ever saw him again? Could she ever forgive him for what he had done...allegedly...with Yukiko? Was it her fault that the those two weren't together now, a happiness that she had robbed from two of the people that she cared for more than anything in this world? Was she even wanted? Was she even really loved? Could Senpai actually blame her for all of this? Could Yukiko? ...Could she ever be forgiven for her carelessness? On and on the questions bounced around inside of her head as she ran, and while she tried to answer them as best she could, it was becoming harder and harder to find the right logic, to find the strength to continue to be defiant in the face of all the accusations levied against her by the shadow and inside of her own mind. And yet, when she reached the top of the tower she was going to have to find an answer one way or another. She would have to decide whether or not to believe in the very bonds that had driven her to this extreme, decide whether or not she wanted to keep fighting against such overwhelming despair, and most importantly...did she even want to keep living, keep fighting in a world that had gone so very wrong?

Into the next open clearing in the tower she came, crystalline floors beneath her feet that were white in a way that seemed altogether unnatural for such a wretched place. Everything was icy, bright, and completely the opposite of one would imagine ever finding inside of this tower. It made one wonder what it was doing here inside of this place, if perhaps there was some symbolism, perhaps in the revival, in forgiveness, in salvation. Was this tower really a pillar of evil that pulled down utter destruction upon humanity? In some time, perhaps not recently, but once, long ago, had this tower been intended as the focal point for something...beautiful? Before her eyes at the center of crystal pillars stood a man with silver hair and golden eyes, his smile seeming less mocking than before, and almost...welcoming? She approached with a strange trepidation, unsure what it could mean that this monster was staring at her with such an expression, one that lacked the hate and the amusement that had filled it before. She stepped forward before this figure, and in spite of herself, she couldn't help but wonder if somewhere in that expression, that welcoming, warm expression...was she seeing the reflection of her Senpai? "You're starting to understand the burden you've become to them, aren't you? Soji...Yukiko...even Chie and Yosuke...you must realize that even now, chasing you up this tower, their resentment for you is only growing," the shadow spoke in a voice that was strangely devoid of malice, and sounded almost...sympathetic? Or maybe it was just her imagination, but then, he seemed almost...sweet...it was so nostalgic. "Don't you see, Rise? I'm not the enemy that you think I am. I'm just the one who intends to open your eyes. I want to show you...the truth about the 'friendship', the 'bonds' that everyone around you claims are so strong. ...It's a farce! They claim to care on the surface, but you saw the way that they put their 'leader' on a pedestal. They never saw him as one of them, they treated him like a god! ...But all he wanted was to be normal! Ridiculous as it might seem," the shadow scoffed in distaste, once again hating the way that its other half clung to humanity, "They rejected him...because he wasn't like them. And when you started dating him, they treated you differently too, didn't they? Yukiko was jealous of you...Chie couldn't forgive you either. Yosuke, well...you were already like a goddess to him, weren't you? Only Soji really wanted to know you...but you barely treated him like a human too, didn't you? You treated him like something more...and because of that, he's gone now, isn't he?" Again it's voice seemed almost sympathetic. It stepped forward and raised a hand slowly, bringing it towards the cheek of the girl as the tears once more threatened to fall. Reacting after a moment, she swatted the hand away and took a step back, panicked...for a moment there, had she really...had she almost enjoyed the feeling?! "Perhaps...you're not ready," the shadow sighed, stepping back with a half-smile, "But by the time you reach the top, you will be willing to embrace me. I'm only the messenger. And I intend to open your eyes..."

Turning its back, it started down the hall...but there was a moment's hesitation before the former idol followed. Her eyes were downcast, her fingers coming to her cheek to wipe at the spot that the shadow had touched her. She felt so...tainted! So ruined. What was wrong with her?! Her friends were her friends...they were trying to help, they didn't think..."That's not true..." she muttered under her breath, voice shaking, "Senpai...please help me...Senpai..." Her voice broke, she was in tears again now, even though she was sure she hadn't any more to spare. Against her better judgment her feet carried her forward after the shadow, slowly, shakily, but off she was again. And when the Investigation Team came to follow her they were met with the bemused chuckle of the disembodied voice of Soji's Shadow, a pair of thin figures emerging from the darkness to block their path. "It's so easy to rewrite history inside of the minds of the brokenhearted. Turning friends into enemies, enemies into friends. As easily as you all went to his side, so I could bring you to mine if I desired. But...none of you are quite as useful, or as interesting as this one. Perhaps I'll just take her for my own? Wouldn't that be the greatest insult to his memory...wouldn't he just roll inside of his grave if he knew how I was worming my way inside of her heart? ...Would you care to join her, Ms. Yukiko Amagi? There are two sides to the throne I'll sit upon, and I could think of nobody I'd like better to sit upon my left. ...Shall I give you happiness, or despair? Think about it..." the shadow taunted with a low laughter, the figures coming out of the shadows now more prominent.

"Oh, but don't think too long. Or your new playmates might get impatient. Sano, Kuro...I've given you the power to defend yourselves against evil. And I, your loyal patron, trust you to stand by my side in this revolution. Prove my faith in you justified."

Shadow Soji Ascends!

Rise has followed the Shadow further into the Tower of Demise! The path forward is now blocked by the Investigation Team's regret, the traitor who left them for evil...the Deadly Duo of Sano Gallen and Kuro Adomachi! And can they reach Rise in time before Shadow Soji's plan is complete?

Rednal Ak'Thias

"...I'll handle the kids. Keep going. This shouldn't take too long." Rednal told the rest of the Investigation Team as he looked over towards Sano and Kuro. A sphere of orange energy appeared above his hand as he looked towards the two foes, and he tossed it up and down. They hadn't had a true chance to be indoctrinated just yet... so maybe, just maybe, this would be a chance to try and set them back on the right path. He smiled just a moment later at the two of them. "I'm sorry, but I may need to get a little bit rough on you two. The path you're on right now will only end in tragedy, following a leader like that, and it's my job to take care of the rest of you." Mostly a self-proclaimed job, really, but he'd pretty much always felt that as the oldest of the new part of the team, it was his job to try and help everyone who came after him... including those who were straying onto the wrong course. If he could, perhaps, make them feel a little bit of awe... maybe he could break them away from where they were going.

Kisa

Still hanging back from the others, a quiet figure moved from shadow to shadow, hallway to hallway, making her way up the tower a bit at a time... all to see what she could learn from this place about his whereabouts. Shadows tended to die when they got too close to her, and blood-red eyes continued to watch thoughtfully for any scrap of new evidence. Soji... I will find you somehow. the girl thought distantly. No matter how long I have to search.

Faustus Necromonium and Kusuri Keiraku
"Yeah, how about No?" Faust called, grabbing Rednal's outfit, almost comically as he pulled him back. "Need I remind you that there's going to be at least one more roadblock on our way up here, or do you think we should waste some of our Veterans for Teros to Chew on?"
It was a roundabout way of admitting Rednal was strong, though he wasn't quite sure if he was stronger than him or not. Just that they had to fight.
"So, who else would like to offer?" he called, likely insulting the two Messiahs as he gestured at everyone. Dan, Nekama, Yukiko.....Were they really all that was left at the moment? Musta climbed more areas than he thought.

Kusuri snarled at the Man's remark, commenting on how she didn't know death, and how he was going to show them. Breaking his card, she braced herself.......And then nothing. He didn't have anything, and as Nix's Spell connected, he was clearly beat, and hurting. She called to Nix to get the Lift key as she moved closer to him.

"I didn't hear you..." Kusuri called, as she reach behind her, and....Gulp...
Pulled out the Monstorus Axe she was oh so infamously used to using. She made sure that Keamy saw it as she raised it high. "I told you I'd break you in half, and I plan to make good on my word!" She called, the scales on her skin shining brightly, with her fangs held out. Calling forth her card, the girl slammed the Axe down into it, as Hera Appeared once more, powered up, as the figure moved to the man, and Dealt a Powerful Striking Attack, Akasha Arts. She could have Roasted him alive with her Meltdown spell, but she figured this was good. Especially since she controlled to where it would (most likely) Not be fatal. Better than meeting the wrong end of the Axe, if nothing else.

Martin Keamy, the Shadow Soldier

Down but not completely disabled, exhausted but able to cast at least one last spell to keep himself from passing out, Keamy was the picture of a beaten man. Not quite as physically wrecked as he could have been, he was still covered in a few burns and black marks which were evidence of his pain. But he didn't make a sound, utter word, except for the low laughter in the back of his throat as the girl drew her axe and prepared herself to finish him. So, this was how it ended, was it? He should have read the fine print on this persona thing when it had been given to him, awakened by facing his shadow and accepting it as his own, but it seemed that he had been screwed by overconfidence. ...Then again, as the final blow seemed to descend, he wasn't the only one. "You're a smug b***h," the soldier smirked as the axe came down...but no sooner had her attack been launched than something he had been gripping behind his back...not a radio, but one of the discarded grenades!...flipped out from his grip directly into Kusuri's face! Pin pulled, the lever released, there was barely a moment for her to register what had happened before an explosion just before her would rock her, sending the force and shrapnel all through her body...tossing the scarred girl against the far wall with a force that would send spots through her vision...if not finish her entirely.

Her bloodlust, unfitting of a member joined together with this team of heroes, had cost her dearly. Surprise was still an element that could take the strongest down, and he was a soldier, a fighter until the bitter end. He flung his body to the right and while the physical spell hit, he was able to resist the worst of it and landed in a tired roll on the far side of the room. He found his feet...boots clopping along the ground in a swift limp as he disappeared into the distance and the shadows of the tower. ...But for Kusuri, the damage was done. "And I told you, this is war," his voice called back, though he was out of sight, "and the moment you take anything for granted on a battlefield is the moment you die."

Kusuri was definitely caught off guard by the grenade, and was slammed into the wall uncerimoniously. Thankfully, she was still alive, if just barely.
F-Figures he'd have a trick like this up his sleeve. she thought, pushing towards herself firmly. If she had tried to roast him from that, she definitely wouldn't have survived....And as such, the Diarahan spell sealed up her injuries, and reinvigorated her Body, if not her spirit.
"Ugh.....I'm still seeing stars.." Kusuri called, as she shakily stood, moving over with Nix. "We....we should move on....Ugh...
Magic healing or no, she still had a wicked headache from hitting the wall. Damn surprise attacks...

"It's about damn time! I was getting bored just standing around. These guys better provide at least a little entertainment after how long they took to even get here. Geez.. and what an annoying woman they're trying to save." Sano barked as he started stepping out of the darkness, dragging someone with him. He had Kuro by the arm and was pulling her along with him. "And you stop dragging your feet! You're supposed to be helping out here, not be dead weight." The boy let go of her and obviously looked annoyed but when he looked at the Investigation Team a look of rage could be found. He didn't see Nix among them. That meant one of the other Messiahs were fighting her at this moment, hopefully they wouldn't take his job away from him. At the moment he had something else to do.. Kill these people.

Sano brought out his black bladed Kusarigama and listened to Rednal. ".. I've never even heard of you. Your job must not be so important, it's a fool's quest.. Hmph.. Good. Pick someone else besides that loud-mouth. He's clearly not the one who took her away from me. He'll see that our leader is far better than your dead one." He growled, looking at the remaining members. One of them had to have a hand in taking his sister away. Whoever it was would suffer at his hands.. As he waited to see who would stay behind he started swinging the weight at the end of his chain, a small preparation for whoever challenges him. "I don't have all day you know.. Hurry it up!"

Kisa

There weren't very many things that could distract Kisa from her careful ascent up the tower. Not many, however, was not nearly the same as not anything, and the girl came to a sudden stop as she sensed something else in the area. Her eyes narrowed slightly... her Tetraja from earlier was still active, which was good, but more importantly... "...Yes. I'm ready for you." she said quietly. As ready as she knew how to be, at any rate, and the girl clenched a fist, then looked for the path that would take her to where she wanted to be. This was one of the fights she had been searching for.

Seeing Keamy fall gave Nix a small burst of energy, a small sense of pride that she actually won her first battle. Of course with Kusuri's help, she wouldn't have survived without her. When Kusuri told her to grab the key she snagged it and started walking away, the fallen enemy wasn't worth her notice anymore. He was out of their way, she wasn't going to drop to his level and try to kill him. That's the only thing she would admit he was right about, she can't bring herself to kill someone. Some would see it as weakness but to her it just showed she was still human and not a monster.

Though behind her she heard a loud explosion and Keamy run off. Luckily Kusuri healed herself but the explosion still had an effect on her. "O.. Okay, Kusuri-san.. Thanks for staying behind with me though. I would've died if I was by myself. Let's go catch up. We'll use the lift." With key in hand she ran over to the lift with her friend and used the key they had acquired.. Where it would take them? She had no idea.

Kusuri moved along with Nix, still clutching her head as she walked, almost staggering.
"Ah, it was nothing." Kusuri called, moving along, and grabbing onto her shoulder. Whether that was from a lack of balance or reassurance wasn't clear.
"Either way....we can move on. Let's hope for the best, Yeah?"
Hopefully, her headache would wear off soon, Then they would be ready for....whatever was at where they were going.
