"Mmhmm... Shae seems to be having a few pain issues though..." Aster replied, looking into the door as well before sighing a bit. However, on that note... "The next room over.." she glanced back over a shoulder, "is ours as well....So you two ca-"
And there was Kanda, moving a certain butterfur's stuff out of room A and into room B. What? He figured Shae could sleep a little better with him in the room to be all 'OMGSEKRIT' with, though Yossarian knew anyways.
Besides, chances were that either way the butterfur would want to curl up with her man.
"This arrangement will be easier."
Durr.
BIGFROWN.
Well, she'd just.... be curled up with her man tonight, wouldn't she? She could handle that (too) easily.
"I guess we're in the second room then."

At that point Yossarian couldn't have really cared less how their room arrangements went so long as he had a chance to sit down, but eh... looked like Kanda had decided to take the initiative for grabbing Aster's things and shoving them off into the next empty space over.
He'd even gone ahead and snatched the last of her things up to make sure the move went on as quickly as possible, not even lingering a spare moment in the hallway (where he was sure the innkeeper would be glowering at them, what with the lack of explicit permissions to 'spread out') before making a straight beeline for the closest empty bed.
God, how AMAZING it felt to finally relieve his weight from his feet-- and on that note, he needed to get those damned boots OFF so his poor frozen toes could get... y'know, UNFROZEN hopefully in time.
And were there really icicles on his tail?
(Poor guy-- he wasn't meaning to be so lacking on the affection so far; he was just needing to reheat, really.)
All the quiet commotion had finally seemed to rouse a certain dead-to-the-world sleeper, however; or rather, perhaps it had been the recognition of a familiar voice that finally dragged her out of that dreamless slumber, blearily forcing her eyes open and finding that the room was terribly dark.
Seemed a lot of time had passed since she was last up and, more importantly, those familiar voices belonged to familiar people who'd finally made their return-- further evidenced by the fact that Del had abandoned her to go shooting off right into its favorite friend's cheek.
"... D... Did you make it back without much trouble, Sir?..."
If only she didn't sound like s**t in the greeting attempt, sob.

Hey, Aster had been right on top of the whole 'affections' thing herself, also assisting in grabbing the last of her stripped outer-wear (her coat was still kind-of wet...nghhh), tossing her stuff onto her bed before sitting on the other side of Yossarian's 'chosen' bed.
Awww, her poor spouse-figure was all... frosted. He looked kind of like an iced-coffee.
"So he wasn't there?" she asked, more confirming than actually being 'surprised' by the fact their target had been long gone before they'd probably even set foot in town... if only they'd spent more time asking around about the last time he'd come home.
Nnngh.
Making them all freeze and have 'angreh' moments at each other. Joyous!
"We had only the mundane troubles that would come with travelling in the cold." Kanda answered, watching as the little golem in his possession poked it's 'head' out of his scarf to twitter at it's 'brother' before going shooting out to do a once-around of his head and mimic the 'face crashing' gesture.
Oh dear.
They were teaching each other strange things. This was...odd.
"However, our target was nowhere to be found -- it seemed as though he hadn't even been in the house for more than a month."
Yeah, because he was in Yossarian's house HOLDING HIS FAMILY AND THE WOMAN HOSTAGE. Okay, probably not.

... He actually did feel rather similar to a frozen cup of coffee right then-- all icy and miserable and undesirable (in his opinion) to handle. the frozen mess in his tail was clinging tenaciously to what felt like every fiber of fur he possessed, and peeling it out manually just sucked any fresh heat from his fingers all over again.
It sucked something awful.
"... Unfortunately, that would be correct." Even worse was the choice of conversation Aster brought up, stealing a glance over his shoulder back at her before, alas, the sheer labor of his task demanded ALL ATTENTIONS once again. "The target's domicile was long since abandoned... and useful for nothing more than a lackluster shelter from the cold before returning."
But eh, at least they'd both made it back and now they could move on with their detestable, woebegone lives again!
"How was your own returning journey?" he turned and asked, finally off with his boots and most of the tail-ice, and even a little from the tips of his ears (and ponytail!) too.
It probably wasn't a good sign that Del was already rubbing off on its little 'brother' of sorts with that crashing, but at least the former golem had enough sense to drift back to its rightful master once the ritual had finished, seemingly appeased, and settle on the edge of the pillow where she'd been resting.
Just... not anymore, because speaking required at least some attention, she told herself, and sitting up was only the proper thing to do for accomplishing it.
(She just made a note of NOT using that bad hand to prop herself up.)
"... Well then... I-I imagine he's long since beyond our reach..."
She didn't exactly know how to feel about losing such a monstrous potential paycheck, but... at the same time, she was just too exhausted to really CARE at that point, too.
"At least it's done now..."

Yep, they definitely needed to take a vacation somewhere a touch warmer/.Well, he did. She wasn't really signed up for vacation in the next week or so.
Siiigh.
"Domicile is a house, yes?" she asked, again just confirming her suspicion (she was getting good at this 'context' thing, thank god) and giving him the 'counter-over-the-shoulder' glance before looking away at her own bed.
"We got here relatively safely - only 'relatively' as being mostly frozen is counter-productive towards safety." Aster answered to his question before leaning back so her shoulders were pressed again his..or a little below them. She was kind of a short thing in comparison.
Sigh
"Are you.... 'serious' enough about me to come with me to meet someone?"
Mrrrrrr?
"This just means we'll go to Erasmus and pick up some easier small jobs to make up for the lost effort." Kanda answered, peeling off both of his jackets, dislodging his own little (nameless) companion before it did another few loop-de-loops and crashed, ungracefully, onto the top of Kanda's bed.
Looked like Del had the ability to land going in his favor.
"And stop to resupply you with the medication you threw to the wolves."
Since for all he knew, they'd need it in the future in some shape or form. Or whatever. Nope, he was allowing Shae to believe she was disguising her suffering from him for now.

... Wait, what was this about being 'serious' enough to see somebody now?
"Meeting someone?..."
The question struck Yossarian as terribly odd, and he couldn't help but make a face at it. Wasn't he always serious enough to remain at her side during their confrontations with other people? There was no reason for one instance to be any more momentous or important than ano-- ... oh.
Oh. So that was the kind of meeting she meant!
"I don't see why I wouldn't be," he responded at last, suddenly taking on an almost awkward note to his voice and glancing back at her.
Now...
"Just who in the world are you considering a rendezvous with?"
Aw, and it seemed that Sir was going to let her keep on pretending like she could fool the world, except that.. well, the sad fact was that she knew better already, and recognized how pathetic she must have looked, and figured that, really, it was only a sympathy gesture in the end to let her feign independence.
It... probably wouldn't be lasting much longer either.
"A-ah... right..." Funny, too, how she'd almost forgotten about the wolves until he'd mentioned it; all she knew was that she had nothing for the misery to curb it, still felt worse than ever, and probably couldn't drag her sorry carcass out of bed even if she wanted to anymore.
"That'd be nice..." Hell, she wound up having to slouch right back against her pillow again in the end, frowning quietly to herself. Del, meanwhile, had fluttered up to curl on her stomach like a drowsy cat, receiving a little stroke along the 'back' for its efforts. "At least Erasmus should be warmer than this region... a-and there'll be plenty of work..."
Yeah, if she COULD work. HA.

She actually was giggling internally at his moment of 'owait' realization. Hee hee. Silly boy. She tilted her head back against his shoulders to look up at him while feigning an 'innocent' face.
"My grandfather."
.... .......... Wait, HOLD THE PHONE!! She was now admitting that there was a place he could have pawned her off on and been free of her before he'd gotten attached to his useless lil' gimpface? PURPOSE, SHE'D HAD ONE.
"He lives in Xorosho." She continued along, "so naturally we'd have to come up with a schedule in which we'd meet back up with Shae and Kanda," since they'd soooo not be going with them, "but.... well.. last time we were in Xorosho I was sort of.. nabbed for a request to visit..."
WHEN?
"That one time I just went out on my own." AND DIDN'T GET LOST. GOOD KITTEN <3
"Well, I'll put it on our list of chores."
Since frankly, mercenary living was just that -- an endless chore. Ha ha ha.
Between finding work and a place to sleep, though, it was no big surprise. They pretty much had to live in the moment - no long term plans there! Unless they were fortunate enough to have been born with a back-up plan to the lifestyle.
Like in the next room over.
"You should sleep if you're tired."

... Whoa whoa whoa, HOLD THE PHONE. Had she seriously just confessed to having a living relative that wasn't insane-- who she'd somehow managed to visit behind his back already during their travel time together?! Talk about one helluva blindsiding revelation to Yossarian, who actually gaped ever so slightly, just for briefest of moments, before knitting his brows together and settling again.
Still... a grandfather. What sort of grandfather? Obviously not too out there if she'd visited willingly, but...
"So you're planning on a more formal visitation now?" And if they went, it'd definitely just be the two of them; even if the other two had been in perfect shape to tag along, there was probably no way in hell they'd do so willingly. "Do you have any concrete plans thus far, then? Funds to travel? Anything?"
He needed to know what he was getting in to, after all.
Mercenary living really was just a chore in itself, and sometimes it felt like they could barely make ends meet. Shae was stuck in that position right then, and her frown just turned down another increment at the comment about sleeping. God... it almost felt like some kind of stupid joke, despite the fact that she knew him to be completely sincere.
It even earned the weakest of coughed chuckles-- obviously at her own pathetic state.
"... I've been sleeping since we first arrived," she mumbled, but alas, seemed like she'd be succumbing to the prospect soon enough-- and she knew it, too. "... I-It's not... really doing anything for me any longer... and..."
And?
"It just seems... uncouth t-to do so shortly after you got back..."

"Well..."
Errr, now she was having that awkward moment of INTERROGATED, ZOMGZOMGZOMG. Eeeeeek! "Well, I can't blindside him with certain developments later if I want his blessing." Err.. 'developments'? She obviously wasn't going to clarify that implication, "As for finances, do you think he'd really give me any excuse to not come back in that regard?"
So HE was paying for the return visit? Hooooboy. Special times.
"And I really doubt that we'll have to house ourselves given his.....financial power." .............. Okay, so now it was a very... well-off grandfather? Yeah, definitely could have been free of her if she'd thought about this man sooner than she seemed to have.
"Hell.. I even had them write down the address so I could find his house again."
'Uncouth' to sleep!? OKAY! Shae obviously didn't have her priorities straight in this case.
"I plan to warm up and then do the very same myself. I've been out treking through the snow all day -- I need to restore my energy." he answered calmly. Not in a 'NOW SLEEP RAWRRAWRRAWR!!' way, but a simple 'uhh.. logicyes?' sort of manner.
Ha ha ha.
Sleep would be wonderful, yes? Yes. Hell, maybe if Shae asked nice he'd curl up with her and let his seashell purrpurr lull her to sleep. ;D ;D ;D ;D

And there went a whole slew of potentially deadly trigger words flying over his head, Yossarian's ears giving an almost guilty twitch at each one and lips seemingly torn between a twitch or another frown. That referencing of 'certain developments' seemed terribly ominous, and just... oh god, the thought of seeking an elder's 'blessing' was just...
Yeeeah, it seemed a little too peculiar to him, despite his usual tendency to abide by such rituals.
Maybe it was the context.
"I suppose that would only be logical enough," he grumbled, feeling very much like he'd just waved a white flag and signed the contract of his own sure demise. "Hmm... well, then, when are you proposing that we leave for this strange new venture?"
Or, translated: HOW SOON IS THIS WOE GOING TO BEGIN?
O... kay, that really was playing on her feeble logic reflex which, sadly, was still present despite the otherwise complete bodily fail. It just took someone else cornering her with said logic to really have things hit home, and once again, she resigned herself to that weak frown.
No use in fighting it if even he planned on bedding down soon too, right?
"I-I guess that's true enough..." Not that she still didn't feel terrible for falling so far in the first place-- but what else could she do ? She was already in bed, more or less as 'comfortable' as any freezing sickie could possible be, unable to get out of it even if she wanted, and definitely not wanting to in the slightest.
"Hey... Si-- ... ah, Kanda?..." Okay, she was already half-out of it, and it was obvious from her voice alone. "D... Do you think we'll need to start looking for work again tomorrow?..."
(Pffft, as if she was even capable at the moment, HA.)

She seemed to notice the ear-twitches (at the very least) and frowned a bit herself at how horribly suspicious they were... but didn't whine or get deterred by it. She was just going to have to make note of the fact there were more words on that list with the 'L' one than she had expected.
"Well, we'll have to talk to Shae and Kanda about it, plus get out of here - which I imagine is easier said than done as we'll likely have to wait for a weekly shuttle of some sort due to the location's lack of visitors," Oh wow, she'd picked up stuff! "So we'll have to wait at least a week before anything."
THough following that she sat up, stretching her arms hiiiiigh above her head, complete with the stretching-noise, before sighing and getting up.
"But for now, it's probably better off for us to just sleep and warm up after yesterday nigh..."
nNnnghdfjdkl.
"I doubt it." Kanda answered. They were 'well' enough off to be able to survive a day of not-working while still being able to pay for the shuttle back to Salig.
sjflka.
Never going anywhere cold ever again. How those who were living out there currently could get by with it was something that would baffle him for forever and a year (or more). Nnnnghdf.
"For now, we'll sleep and discuss further battleplans with the other duo tomorrow."

That... was also true; they were best off just recuperating and rewarming for the rest of the night, and as for the other two...
"Well, we'll confront them in the morning," he mumbled, "I'm certain those two are as worn of this night as we are."
That was a terrible understatement and they all knew it-- but with that said, it was time for him to prop his feet up on the mattress, rest his back against the headboard, and, naturally, make a decent spot for one female-sized body to curl up against him... because if one thing was for certain, it was that she'd want to cling.
Nothing wrong with that, though; at least it'd have some heat benefit with the recreational 'snuggly' mess (that he secretly wasn't even against).
"This day has been far too long for my tastes."
Shae couldn't have agreed more with that statement more... though sadly she was far out of earshot (and interest) from it right then, so it didn't matter, and her only genuine focus was on the voice of the other male who'd just sealed all their fates to a long night of nothing but dozing-- the same thing she'd done for too many hours already.
"R-Right..."
Well, she wasn't about to fuss about it (as if she could) though, and... really, just knowing that they were all finally 'safe' again was enough to relax all the worries out of her mind, so closing her eyes wasn't too dreadful.
"That'd... be best, I'm sure..."
Maybe tomorrow, she'd feel a little less horrible? It was good to hope for, anyway.

O-oh? She'd actually been all settled on the idea that he was going to want his own bed to sleep in, so having him just move and accommodate for a certain snuggle-faced kitten just tickled her pink. Though she did hold off on any inside-liquidizing purrs until she had crawled right into the Aster-sized-spot to curl against his side and chest.
Mmmmm.
She was definitely a lucky little thing.... and he was a cold thing! BRRRRRRRR!!! Then again, he'd been out in the cold for quite some time that day, so she could easily see why it was he was a little on the frozen side. Awwwwww!
"I.." streeeeeeeeeeetch "vote we never go anywhere cold ever again." she answered, stretching one of her arms across his chest before sighing and half-settling into the crook of his shoulder.
Mmm. Comfortable.
As for Kanda, his last tasks of the night were to retire into the bath to warm up his extremities before he too retired to his bed to ... ..
...
Well, mostly stare at the ceiling until his body would will itself to sleep for his purposes. Hopefully that wouldn't be too long for him.

... Well, the cold would be leaving him in short order soon enough, what with his still-warm core of his and the fact that they'd gotten so close in their snuggly joy. It was all just peripheral, topical, and on the outside-- like a frigid coat of ice that could be shrugged off and thawed away in a matter of minutes. Thank god his circulation wasn't half as failing as either of the females.
He probably would've been dead if that was the case.
"... And I second the notion," he mumbled, even having half a mind to use his free hand (one was stuck around a certain kitten) and tug up the covers just above their midsections, as content as any usually-disgruntled person could possibly be given the situation and... really, who wouldn't be? (Hell, a lot of guys would probably kill just to be laying in bed with a woman so SMITTEN over them!)
"I have no desire to tolerate such conditions any more," he muttered, and then heaved a deep, thoughtful sigh of his own, and closing his eyes. "Perhaps we'll migrate to some warmer region after this... meeting in Xorosho. Somewhere south, nearer to the coasts..."
Aaah, he could just see it now: a warm, lush place where work and sun were both plentiful... like some strange utopia of the warm-blooded mercenary...
It was a good thing to fall asleep to.
As for Shae... well, she'd been wanting desperately in one part of her to just pass out then and there, and by all rights, she should have... but the girl did still keep an ear out (as best she was able) while Sir was out, face buried in her pillow and Del by her forehead.
Maybe it was just some psychological impulse, not wanting to finally give up until she was sure everything was 'proper' and in its place.
Sure enough, though, she heard his footsteps stop, and the other mattress creak, which inevitably meant he'd settled in too.
"W-well... goodnight, I suppose..."
Such silly formality too-- but what else was she going to do before bed? It wasn't like either of them were particularly assertive with interacting during times the other two would've considered ripe for snuggling, so... the night would just end as always, in a kind of quiet seclusion that was 'fine' by them.
Sleep would do them all more good than anything in the waking world possibly could.

Most guys would likely be trying other things with said smitten kittens though, so Asteria was lucky to just be able to snuggle against Yossarian's shoulder and sigh happily. Mmmm... sleepytimes. It was really all so pleasant for her.
"Mmm...that'dbenice.." she purred in agreement, followed by a yawn which was enough to prompt her to close her eyes and just enjoy their snuggly position on the bed. Yes... the idea of a warm shore and work would be easily found without freezing little tails and toes.
Mmmmm.
Yes, that'd be a definite positive. Now she'd just hope it would be enough to get her through another week of the cold while they were looming in this strange frozen 'wasteland'.
Well, she'd deal with that in the morning...
