A low rumble in greeting came from Saterth who was sitting on her stone bed. Lintana came out from behind her queen and smiled at Eisel.
"So I must say, our dragons have excelent timing!" She patted Saterth's haunches and walked up to Eisel.
"The last three times Saterth has layed, she had an average 47 eggs and at least one queen in each batch. And if I remember correctly, Saterth and Umbrielth came from the same queen, Arglenth. So I am guessing that Umbrielth will have about the same number. Thats about 94 eggs with at least two queens, hatching within days of each other. I'm not sure that Cove Weyr and Cove Hold will be able to supply that many on Search."
Lintana smiled and looked straight into Eisels eyes. "Lately in the Weyr council there have been talk of creating another Weyr here on our contantent since Cove Weyr has been doing so well. Plus, with J'rel back and in charge of the council once again, the council is feeling...rather invincible. And I want you and Umbrielth to be the senior queen of the new weyr. So I am going to be giving you more of my own tasks to help you prepare. Your first task, is to devise a way to deal with the lack of would be riders for Search." Lintana's smile widened as she awaited Eisles answer.

Eisel coughed, nearly choking on the greeting she'd been preparing for the weyrwoman. "Me?!" she demanded skeptically, regaining her breath with difficulty. Umbrielth rumbled sympathetically behind her. "Um..." she trailed off, her mind still trying to process the request before getting to the other challenge.

Lintana felt that she should put an arm around Eisel in comfort but decided against it. Lintana was not one for contact from anyone but J'rel and their dragons. Instead Lintana turned around and headed to a clump of four chairs near Saterth. She motioned for Eisel to sit.
"I've also been making a list of riders I would like to go with you and assist you. Of course we can only send a limited amound seeing as how the other contentant will want to send their own riders. And this is only a very very rough draft. It will be at least another season before the council will even pick a spot to start let alone carve into the rocks to make the weyr. But your training must start immediatly."

Z'Arian found J'rel sitting in wait for him and nodded slightly as he walked forward. He sat at J'rel arm wave and listened as he told Z'Arian about the new weyr and the situation ahead of him. Z'Arian was taken aback at the idea of him and Eisel in charge of a new weyr. That had come as a surprise.

"Well, that's why Lintana called her, and had you come here. We're going to be showing you the ropes and haw to deal with it. Think on it and talk with Esiel, and then come back and we can get going. .....Uhm, come back tomorrow though. It's getting late." J'rel sent Z'Arian off and turned back to his desk.

Z'Arian went back to his weyr and awaited Esiel's return.

Eisel sat at the suggestion and blinked at Lintana owlishly, trying to force the mounting inquisitiveness back in the corner of her mind it had come from. She settled for just absorbng whatever Lintana had to say all at once. After a moment, she nodded uncertainly. "'Kay," she replied, reaching instinctively for Umbrielth's mind. Are you getting all this? she inquired, reassured slightly by Umbrielth's obvious surprise. "What do you want me to do?" she inquired of the Weyrwoman, rather at a loss as to what else to say.

"Well, I would like you to start thinking about what to do with the over abundance of eggs and..." Lintana was about to finish when she stopped and her eyes went blank for a few seconds, as they normally do when she is reached mentally by any dragon other than Saterth.
"..Oh, well it is pretty late, isn't it..." Lintana sounded detatched as the words from one of the other Weyrleaders dragon soaked in. "If you think of any ideas tell me tomorrow..." Lintana stood up and started to usher Eisel out of her weyr and to the ledge where her dragon was. As they passed Sateth she raised her large golden head and looked out of the weyr into the sky, eastward.
"...Goodnight Eisel..." Lintana walked quickly over to Sateth but as she reached her Sateth let out a mornful roar and was soon accompined by the rest of the weyr. One of their own had died.

Eisel headed for Umbrielth in a daze, but was stopped short by the keening that filled the entire weyr. She winced as the grief struck her telepathically through her dragon, and struggled to push it away to a more manageable level as she settled herself on Umbrielth's back. The dragoness seemed not to notice for a moment, but then, very slowly, she lifted herself and pushed off, taking them back to their weyr with long, slow sweeps of the golden wings. Eisel staggered off and glanced at Umbrielth, noting the sorrowful color of her eyes. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, unsure what exactly was expected of her now.

OoC|| Does this death have any significance, or was it just thrown in there to add some kind of action?

(OoC: it has significance. It was one of the other weyrleaders that died)

Lintana was pelted by the grief of all the dragons in her weyr. She winced and had to put a hand on the wall to steady herself. She closed her eyes concentrating hard on a pleasant thought. This was a definate downfall to have connections with all of dragon kind. T'kla of Benden Weyr was dead as was his dragon, Bonerth. Moments before their deaths, Bonerth had told Lintana of T'Kla's colapse. This didn't make any sence. Lintana was only a few moons younger than T'Kla and she had seen them both not one moon ago and they were both in fine fidle.
Lintana looked up at Saterth but she was gone. Saterth was on the ledge of the weyr looking out. She jumped and unfolded her wings. Saterth glided to the very top of the Weyr Bowl and let out another mornful roar. Lintana had known that Bonerth and Saterth had been from the same hatching, but dragons don't remember the past. They live in the here and now. Saterth had witnessed two deaths before this one and had never flown off. When Lintana tried to reach her mentally she was flooded with more depressing thoughts.

Z'Arian leaned against a wall as Vrätoth flooded his emotions with the bad news. He'd been through a few dragon deaths before, but this one was very strong. His best guess, it was an important event that would not go by without a lot of notice. He leaned against an the outside wall standing on the ledge as he awaited Esiel's return and Vrätoth curled up and watched the sky absently.

Eisel spotted Z'Arian on the neighboring ledge and sat down on her own with her feet dangling over the edge, her hands clasped in her lap as she gazed down at the dark void that was actually a finite heighth to the floor of the Bowl. "I was from Benden..." she said, half to herself, loud enough for Z'Arian to hear. She sighed, picturing the kindly but strong Weyrleader in her mind. He'd been like a father figure to a girl far out-of-place in the dragonfolk society.

Z'Arian shoved off the wall, and took a bit of a running start, and leaped over to Eisel's ledge. He sat down next to her and wrapped his arm gently around her shoulders. He pulled her tightly to him and stroked her arm with his other hand. "You alright love? Anything you want to talk about? I know it must be hard for you. Feel free to talk, cry, whatever you need. I'm here." He kissed her forehead softly and held her tight.

Eisel turned her face into his shoulder, biting her tongue hard to keep from taking him up on the offer. Don't think about it, she told herself firmly, drawing in deep draughts of air to steady herself. If she even considered crying she'd break down, and if she cried at all she'd cry enough to give herself a monster of a headache for the next day. Headaches were very nearly the bane of her existence. So she bit her tongue. "I'm not alright," she said quietly. "But he wasn't old enough. If I hadn't been so afraid, he would have just been another guy." She was rambling in a rather delusional manner, but she didn't really feel like caring at the moment.

OoC|| Wow. Uhm...Eisel's rambling could be interpreted in some weird ways, so I'd like to clarify that she's just rambling about how he wasn't really old enough to be any kind of realistic father figure. And that she only saw him that way because she was freaked out at the time.

Z'Arian pulled her in closer and held her tightly. He didn't know what to say to her at this point, so he just held her, gently rocking back and forth trying to soothe her heart.
