((Your in a house! What! And body don't just assume I as you said "crumple down upon himself" alright, it's called god modding! And i never said I was inside the house, or building sorry. I just said hello to Aeifi. I should go back and edit that...my mistake... sweatdrop , and man what's your rush to get rid of every one? And what building is this? Just asking.))
Caliesil bash's at the flames, then brings shadow around himself and smother's the flames. "By the blasted gods! Have some manners boy! You don't just light people on fire! Damn kids these days no respect..." he said to himself.

((this is my house, and if you read the posts I outlined to you previously, you would have found out that any demons [like yourself] can not even be within one kilometer of this place, and if they set foot in here, they implode and combust at the same time...it wa a protection thingee placed here by the former owner to keep demons and unholy beings out. so in a way, it would be closer to god-modding if you did not combust and implode for being here.))

The intensity left Aeife's eyes, followed by the strength in her body. She gently lowered herself to one of the lower bunks and rolled onto it, so that she was gazing up at the bottom of the top bunk. With a silent sigh she closed her eyes, laying her arm over her forehead while the other rested over her stomach.
That wasn't a very good scene... Now that one wanted her too? Well, she probably wasn't being singled out. It was probably just the idea that she was most voulnerable, if not for the place she was staying in. Would they just keep coming? It didn't bode well for Gordon's future if she stayed... She would have to leave eventually.

*pours a glass of wine and cuts a chunk out of the traveler's loaf, scooping some additional berries out of the honey soaked loaf. puts it on a plate and sets it down on the table next to her bed. sits down next to her*
Alright Aeife, you seem really popular with the underworld lately, what's happening?

"I don't know," she wiped some sweat from her brow, then rolled to her side, looking away from Gordon. She really didn't have the faintest idea why she was so popular, as he put it.
"The shard I hold isn't even one of the more powerful ones..."

*edges the plate towards her* eat, Aeife. The demons can't reassemble the crystal unless they have all the shards, which means its up to you and I to make sure they don't get it.

"Wo! wait a second." Caliesil said going down to the forest floor. he felt very weak all of a sudden. "Son of a b***h that took a lot more out me then I thought." he needed some sleep and he new it. He was quite a ways away from that safe house the holders had. He got up and walked around, looking for something to rest by. Just up ahead bear appeared, he didn't even hear it, he was even still weaker. It was hungry... and it wanted him. "You kill me you die as well I would like to point that out." he said in the animals head. "You protect me for a few hours I will, give you food and a good home." the bear nodded and gave it's word. You can always trust an animals word...except reptiles, honor less creature's by far almost as bad as humans. The bear took him to her former den. Cubs came running to her. Caliesil went in and lay down. "Well, the powerful demon Caliesil, putting his life in the hands of a bear...how ******** ironic is that?" he said falling to sleep.

Aeife looked at him for a moment, unsure whether or not she felt like eating any more. Somewhat reluctantly, she brought herself up to sit cross-legged on the bed, taking the plat into her lap.
"That's not as easy as you make it sound," she said dryly, taking a bite of the bread. Moments later she licked her lips and took another bite, suddenly aware of the hunger brought on by her internal struggle.

*shrugs* I no longer measure things in difficulty. Just how long it'll take to get it done. Would it make you feel any better if I told you my story before you tell me yours?

Rather than give straight answer, Aeife kept right on eating, until the last morsel. However, she did give a sort of confirming look to him. Did she even have a story? If so, would it be worth telling? There were likely to be many gaps where information she didn't know belonged. But at least by listening to him speak for a while, she could have a better understanding of what he was expecting her to tell.

well...a few years ago, I was hired by the local milita along with seven others to keep the woods safe. We came here, cleaned out bandits, undead, abhoratins, anything that could atatck travelers or one day all band together and attack the crystal. we eventually came here and settled down, running patroles every now and then to make sure things were clear. life was pretty good, orders and fresh supplies once a season, flexible hours, good dental plan ((sorry, couldn't resist blaugh )). Everything was going fine, but orders started becoming more and more infrequent until they stopped altogether. then everyone started dying. demons came through and killed off four without stopping, diseas and accidents took the rest...I was the only one who knew how to survive on my own, so I'm still here...ehhh.....been here for over a year, I think. Can't be sure, stopped tracking the days when Maybrei died...*sigh*
anyhoo, I've been hunting down the last remaining abhorations, indirectley protecting the elementalists by killing off one of the few creatures that can sense their power. then you and the demons came up...although they're different now. and I know Olaf had something written in these old books that will help us beat them. *looks over to the large bookshelves that line one wall* just wish I had more time...
you know, you're the only human company I've had for the longest time? things get so lonely with nobody to talk to... *wipes away a tear that hasn't even formed yet*

Aeife nodded in response to his story, showing that she heard and understood. At the mention of the feminine name Maybrei, she looked down at the clothes she was wearing. His earlier comment about being 'her size' and now the mention of this person led her to believe that the tunic and trousers she now wore once belonged to her. She scrunched her nose up slightly, feeling somewhat uncomfortable wearing them now. By Quon custom, it was looked down upon to wear the garments or accessories of someone who has passed on, unless the two people were very close by relation or friendship.
Again she nodded at his mention of being lonely. It did seem to be a rather sad and lonesome life that he lived, making her feel all the worse for knowing that eventually she had to leave. She would do no good for him if she stuck around.
"I understand," was all she could manage to say.
