Belg nodded. "I see. So you're planning on dropping it on them just before the rain, right? I doubt you could break those things with out being noticed." Belg peered through the missing floor of the fighter, his eyes searching the skys for enemy crafts and foudn no trace. "By the looks of it, we have a fair amount of time before we have to deal with it, so I'll leave this up to you. Just tell me what needs to be done and I'll see it through."

"Alright. We have excatly enough for twelve units. That would mean we can give directions by clock numbers easily. We just have to load it and make sure the glass break easily and the bombers can get away safetly and quickly." Riyoku does a few calculations in her head. "It should work pretty well... I've got good hopes for it... oh, and the fijord. That would make an excellent back up." She jotted down a few notes and handed it to an NBR worker. "I think that's about it." She fingers the scar on her wrist, thinking.

Belg stuck his head out of the hatch again, searching for the enemy. His eyes glimpsed a minute speck on the horizon. The speck became a spot and soon a visible shape followed by other specks becoming shapes. A slight wizzing sound slowly reached his ear as Belg pulled his head back in.
"X, I think they might be coming in faster than I thought. We gotta get those jars ready." The wizzing built up, becoming louder by the second.

"Yea that's true" said Shadow as he continued to take aim at targets with the sniper rifle. (True)

((Finally back...))
Belg looked down to the radaer, and back at X. The enemy jets had fianlly appeared as feint heat signatures and were closing in fast. "Are the ships ready yet?! At this rate, the guys outside might get us ebfore we can even drop the oil!"
Belg returned the pistol he had loaded earlier to its spot on his belt as his eyes met the radar's screen showing the heat signatures that belonged to their enemy even closer than they were only moments before.

"I can try to keep them occupied..." Riyoku typed the command for the disturbance frequency in gamma. It was in the first few lessons of every hacker and technician's guide, and all was built in standard form. The wave barely slowed them down, they were wave shielded.
"At this rate we have a 34% rate of survival... " Riyoku, who never expressed any signs of unease, now appeared throughly worried. Her mind didn't take the situation too well having never been introduced to worry before. She tried to push back stress and deal with her work, she can't freak out, there were too many lives at stake.
"Launch the crafts, now!"

"That only means 64% chance we fail! I like those odds!" Belg screamed as the hatch had openend to release the crafts and let in a deafening roar. "Numbers don't mean anything as long as we have the grit to pull this off! Have faith!"
He had barely managed those words into the howling currents that now whipped through their ship. Belg had looked up to see what X was doing as the crafts sped off to destroy the incoming jets. Though it was only for a moment, the ex-cop had noticed a sense of worry in his young friend's face.
The carriers sped towards the enemy and were about to make contact...But damn that wind.

Riyoku sat at the main computer of the commander craft as the pilot led the charge. an approximate 150 jars had been loaded, only 89% will meet their marks. They needed at least 92%... there were a few left over missles... but could she really rely on them? It wasn't likely.
They aproached rapidly, taking the enemies by surprise. They hadn't expected th weakened force to launch first attack. The moment's hesitation increased the natural born forces' percentage of winning... it wouldn't be too long now... the moment of decision.

((You're back! *dances*))
"Haha!" Belg let out a deep laugh as a large cluster of jars took out a chunk of the Perfects' ranks. The laugh sorta died away as more fighters emerged from the smoke.
"X..?! What we do about the others flying at us?" Belg looked around the cockpit and saw X and the other soilders workining busily at the computers working out the figures and readying their next plan.
He looked at them all and deep feeling of useless-ness swelled up inside of him. In any battle, he had spear-headed it and they had always proved succesful, but when it came to these missions where nubmers ment more than stregnth, he was relativley useless. "There...must be something..." Belg looked to the open hatch for a moment and tried to work out the number himself for once.

Riyoku's mind was going faster than mach 7, racing to beat the computers checking the numerals with stunning accuracy. For the first time in her life, she displayed more than just a flash of her forbidden emotion--fear. Estimation was never one of her strong points, she couldn't stop her mind from calculating the exact points... it might just take hours or even days. In a soft voice, she answered Tank, her voice quivering. She was the child within the iron shell that encased her, the child she never was, crying to be released from the computer and its cocoon of numbers. Riyoku refused to give in and held on tightly to her machine like self, struggling to keep her position.
"...I'm sorry... I don't think I know..." Her mind was coming to a blank from the tearing inside her. Mental shock raced through her nerves, slowly shutting down her bodily functions.

X didn't know..She...didn't...What?! "How can you..?! Argh! Screw numbers then!" When X didn't know, then nothing mattered anymore. "For the restiance!!"
Tank leaped through the open hatch, spread eagle and equpiment flying. "Full Sync!!" A tear between dimensions appeared and travelled with him downwards as the mechanical beast Nakt emerged, with Tank tumbleing into him and the cannons merged with his skin. And then a second creature emrged. A giant serpent that seemed to be made of solid metal, but moved with the grace of water. The Half synced Tank fell into Sheel and the snake repalced his right arm with its coiled self. It had been awhile...
The Full Sync Tank raised his left palm to the opposite directoin of the oncoming crafts and reopened his gate. " Weapon Barrage! 110%!" The tear returned and instead of monsters pouring out, a torrent of fire, bullets, missles, and lasers came, firing Tank at the crafts with speed just below theres.
He grimaced at the pain in his left arm. The recoil from that attack was tremendous, and if he had been on solid ground, he would have broken his arm. He contemplated this for a moment. What did it matter now? "At least X will make it to the objective..."
Tank extended his Sheel arm at a jet, releasing a beam of silver that morphed into a fine lance before impact. He then retacted and threw himself onto the jet and drove the lance in deeper so he wouldn't fall off. With his Nakt arm he launched a barrage of shots in one direction and with his remaining body guns, shot in every other direction.
There was almost no way he could survive this, heck, not even much chance that he'd kill anything, but when was he ever good at numbers?

"Tank, wait--" Too late, he already went. Riyoku stood, frozen, only meters away from the hatch. She couldn't take it anymore, too much emotion, too many memories, too much at risk.
"Summon 17.2...Sayphen, Katha, Ryuthe, Mirelle, Shirame." Each creature appeared by turn, all of them reflecting her innerself and her fear. "We need to reach Tank and help... " She felt their energies hum with agreement. Without another thought, she hurled through the hatch after Tank. "Pentagonic sync function Alpha three..."
The six wings appeared, shooting from her back with a protective silvery coating, indentical to the cybernetic plate armor over her body by the combined defense sync of the remaining energies.
"Tank, I need to reach your gate!" She knew if she could aim Nakt's power for him in combination with her own, she could raise their chancs of survival. The percentage was thrown to the winds, she could no longer make head or tail out of her own algorithims.
The armor protected her from Tank's wild shots as she lowered herself to hover close to him. Another way she could do it if his gate couldn't be reached was to lend all her powers to him. That was a risky move as well, she didn't have a parachute. There was no time to think any more, and she made a decision.
"Tank, everything is up to you now. Desynch transfer!" Four of her creatures flew into Tank's gate, leaving her with a pair of leathery wings and her steely armor. "Do it for the Resistance!"
And she smiled. A wide, genuine smile in a mentality she had never ventured to before. A smile of detatchment, of resignation, recklessness and the complete lack of numerics. It was a smile for one person, and that person alone.

"X?!" The creatures had synced up with him and his beasts. Out from his back shot wings that were identical to X's, but were colourless, solid steel.
A surge of energy flowed through Belg. He had six gate monsters in him. He hadn't done this in years, when he was young and filled with them. But he had gotten old and couldn't sustain all of them. He had barely managed the bringing of Nakt and Sheel. He felt alive again, with endless joy and youth. He retracted his steel arm and leaped off the falling craft letting it fall into the endless blue below.
He could fly... He had never done that before, but with these were X's and the two of them were more synced than they ever could be with monsters.
His joy was cut short. X had gotten dangerously close when she had given him her wings, and her armour was weakend when she had given them. Belg turned to her to see some of his previous wild shots flying at her.
With a flap of his steel wings, he burst forward, racing to beat his bullets, screaming all the way, "X!!"

Spasmodic drafts of blindness shot into her retina and threw off her entire coordination. She forced herself to regain control in time to dodge the main bullets. Five hit their target, two grazing her armor, one passing through her entirely right below her left collar bone to puncture her lung before coming out on the other side. The remaining two were slowed down by the cybernetic armor, but passed through and lodged in her right arm and right under her ribs.
Time slowed and almost stopped. She was numb, but there was no pain. Just shock, lack of feeling and ribbons of flying blood. Breathing stopped almost entirely as the world turned upsidedown. Her mind was at a blank, steadily milling around in a sea of zeros and ones.
For that moment, she could see everybody she ever knew, everyone she's ever killed. Closing her eyes, she called out to Tank as loud as she could manage with lungs filling up with blood. "For the Resistance, Tank... for the Resi..." The next moment, her body entered the freezing fijord, soon pink with her blood.
Katha desynced from her and encased her in a metal shell where all time could stop. The gate creature hummed to its gatemates, who relayed the cybertransmission of hope to Tank. The battle wasn't over yet, and there was a single number left unsaid.
