I have no idea why people get excited for the VGAs. They're not done by anyone in the industry, and not supported by anyone in the industry. The people who make or star in games are overshadowed by vacuous, vapid, tasteless cunts.
It helps your case that every year the ratings for the show go down too. Everyone knows it's pointless, and yet it still keeps chugging along.

On the flip side, Tripwire Interactive is doing a Christmas event for Killing Floor, and it's going to be absolutely awesome.
It is indeed absolutely awesome.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Steam's Holiday Sale is live.

That steam sale is pretty crazy.

Most of those games are under $10. Hell, P.B. Winterbottom is $.50

And pretty much everything on sale is ******** awesome. If there is any game on PC you've been waiting for, just keep watching the steam sales. I always end up buying a few things because I always find games I want for like $2 each.

So apparently the Humble Indie Bundle II now includes the first one if you pay over the average price (which is like, $7.50 or so). Which means for like, $8 you get 8 or so indie games, and all the money goes to charity. Not bad at all.

*scratches head* After all of the debating over Xbox 360 vs. PS3, I have found myself in possession of a Wii. I think my dad has wanted to get me one since they came out, but I always convinced him not to because I don't really have a good place to put it. So, now that they're pretty much obsolete, he finally went for it. I dunno if I should tell him or what. I think he got it through QVC or something, so exchanging it could be kind of a pain. And, well, it is the 25th anniversary edition, so hey... Mario.

Still don't know where to put it, though. My mom has our DVD player and cable box on this completely nonfunctional antique marbletop stand. I can't stack anything else there, or I won't be able to see the TV from the lazy-boy, which is the most comfortable chair in the room. And I imagine she'll be bitching about the "mess" all of the controllers make soon enough. But there is no room anywhere else to actually stand and play games.

Honestly, when I had a wii I used to sit in a computer chair about 2 feet away from the tv/monitor I had. Functionally, you really don't need any more room than you would for an average console.

It's a little disappointing that the 25th anniversary edition of Mario is just Super Mario All-Stars without Super Mario World or any improvements. Hell, they still show the SNES pad in the instructions.

Yeah, but all of our other TV's have furniture so close to them that I wouldn't be able to stand far enough away from the TV. Except maybe in my mom's room, but that's more of a no-go than the living room. Plus, the best TV is in the living room. I'd really like to move my PS2 out there, as well.

And are you sure about the All-Stars thing? Mine came with New Super Mario Bros and Wii Sports. o.O

The 25th anniversary Wii system comes with what you got, Pyre. New Super Mario Bros and Wii Sports. The 25th Anniversary 'Super Mario All-Stars' game, sold separately, is Super Mario 1-3 + The Lost Levels, as well as a soundtrack cd and commemorative booklet.

General (speculative) consensus seems to be that if it sells well enough (which so far it has) there will be a Super Mario All-Stars 2, with Super Mario World and Super Mario 64.

That's a hell of a lot of Super Mario for one post...

Oh, I see. Dear God, a soundtrack CD? I have those damned songs constantly stuck in my head from endless hours of play as a child. Why would I want a CD?

Why, because Nintendo says you do, that's why. User Image And perhaps by getting them further embedded into your head you will crave more games...

I still remember when I played Super Mario Bros back in the 80's and the songs got stuck within our head. The composer did an amazing job writing amazing melodies with the crappy 8-bit system.

A lot of those guys were really creative and talented back then, for what they were working with.

I'm still amazed that the entire game of Megaman 1 is only 1 megabit total.

Also, it's just that they already made an All-Stars pack that had Super Mario World in it. Seems lazy for as much effort as they're putting into everything else, they could at least change the control graphic to a wiimote or something.

So I've been playing Mass Effect since New Year's, and it's pretty fun. I'm on my second playthrough (New Game+), where the cap is raised from 50 to 60. Except those BioWare bastards put lv60 200,000xp higher than 59. It fits the pattern of xp escalation, but I'll be damned if it isn't nigh impossible to get to. I've done all the side quests and the DLC mission too; though I (unintentionally) probably shot myself in the foot by not knowing about, and therefore not playing, the DLC for my first run through. And technically I haven't beaten it yet since I haven't flown to Ilos for the endgame yet. So there's still a chance, but I doubt I'll get the ~128k in points I "need".

I'm still liking the game though, it's hella fun. ME2 is also downloaded and ready to go as well when I finish this.

Edit: Finished ~80k short; or at least, that's how much I was down before the boss battle. Also, there's achievements in this game? Aw man...

I played Mass Effect 1 back in the day and felt kind of cold about it. But I recall that pretty much being only because of the things you could expect (Pre-fab buildings, combat sucked, the Mako, etc.)

But I still remember beating it and having a good time with it. Just disappointed it wasn't a little better. I played infiltrator, and found out that pistols were basically the best weapon in the game and was a little sad. Plus, there weren't too many places to even use a sniper rifle, let alone have it be an actual weapon class.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to the PS3 version of 2. I watched my roommate go through the PC version, and it seemed pretty cool. Plus, Mordin is awesome.

I ran Infiltrator as well, actually. Yes, the Pistol is your main (awesome) gun, with the Sniper Rifle coming out rarely, but it is useful. If you keep adding "dots" to it, what I ended up doing was using it on the non-plot planets when I was sitting on a mountain looking down on enemy camps. I also used it in the end game when I had to take out some Armatures and Turrets but wanted good cover.

Also in ME2, that game is brighter than ME. My character (perhaps fittingly) looks like death warmed over with all that fluorescent lighting. The "glowing" scars don't help either.
