--Continued from Research Division--
Dr. Sanyusen walked quickly into the Officer Ward, hardly waiting for the large ward doors to automatically open before stepping into the room. The doctor wiped the wasteland dust from his brow as he stepped behind the Wards' Nurse station to complete much needed paperwork on the computer terminal. Looking up from the terminal screen he saw Dr. Mendez silhouette in Dante's room, he called her over in a voice laden with excitement and nervousness. "Dr. Mendez? When you're done working on the patient, do you mind coming to the ward desk?" Alexi finished logging into the terminal and began looking at the OR times trying to choose one that would facilitate Dante's procedure. Dr. Sanyusen checked his watch. There were still 42 hours left before Dante's leg became inviable. Everything now rested on the technician in the Research Department to complete his end of the procedure. Suddenly, Alexi's pager beeped. Groaning in annoyance, Alexi flipped it open and sighed. The entire procedure just became more complicated. He was the only attending in the hospital, Dr Yulia had been absent on research leave for some time, so it was his job to mentor and supervise all doctors in training. But, in Vault 209, one of the premier science vaults in all of new America, a scientist had suddenly managed to contract a case of acute cerebral osteomyelitis from his research. While the case was absolutely rare, if Alexi didn't act quickly, the Scientist would suffer from brain death, and the BOS would lose one of the leading wasteland scientists. Scratching his chin, Alexi made his decision. He would leave the surgery to Dr. Mendez's capable hands and take a vertibird himself to vault to perform surgery. Alexi booked the OR for tomorrow, at 9am. If he was lucky, he would be able to return in time to oversee the final stages of the augmentator implant.

--Continued from same place he left-- Shortly there after, Charles came staggering into the Medical bunker, clutched in his embrace, was a metal box. As he moved, the contents of the box rattled, as it bounced around inside.
With a faint thud, Charles placed the box on the reception desk and addressed the pretty lady behind it. "H-hello, D-doctor Sanyusen asked me to bring this.. For.. Whats her name again.. Uh Claire?" Charles stuttered out nervously as he spoke, all the while the Nurse tried her best to smile and not appear revolted by the ghouls appearance or smell. "We have a Dr.Claire on call, new transfer i believe. I'll make sure she gets it." The nurse replied courteously.
"T-thank you." Charles stuttered out before he gave her a putrid smile and scampered off to whatever dark corners of my subconscious that made me magic up a ghoul of all things.

She hadn't caught Dr.Sanyusen before he left on his study. Between taking care of some of the other wastelander and brotherhood patients, she'd only had time to cat-nap a bit in the last day and a half or to read a little on any subject she thought would help her when -and if- the surgery had to come soon. She dreaded what was to come, whether it meant trying to keep her squad leader here that long, having to amputate or having to make a machine co-operate with his brain, it all was almost to much for her. With a sudden jolt as the nurse tried to get her attention to tell her of the delivery from the research lab, Claira hopped to her feet to determined to be any more fretful. Marching to the front desk, she just about snatched the box up, looking over the pieces. She'd have to memorize what should connect to what before jumping into before hooking him up, but there wasn't much time left to wait if Alexi was right. With this and that bit of sketch Dante had drawn up, she believed could improvise on the rest to make it connect... Gathering the assistance needed now that she'd be the only one preforming this surgery, Claira wanted to start as soon as possible.
Once the bed was brought into the pre-OP room for preparation, Claira wondered if there'd ever be a week gone by where she wouldn't have to see these cold walls. After laying the Knight on the table on his stomach to better reach the wound on his thigh and giving him enough anesthetic to knock him out for a few hours, the long process could begin. The absolutely microscopic sensors to connect to every nerve ending that would deliver signals to the alloy fiber that replaced the missing muscle that was held in place on a line of rings around the bone that would send the nerves signals to and from the brain, all of it felt like it took a lifetime to install carefully. Of course while trying to craft the body to work with the cybernetic enhancements was difficult to do while also trying to ensure there wasn't to much blood loss, while also making sure none of the ridiculously tiny electrical parts were lost. The other nurses, some seemingly more used to this than her, had done their best to give small bits of advice, whether it were about the surgery or just as to how she could stay calm. Easing the mechanically controlled synthetic replacement into place better, the last step would be to graft a new artificial skin over and around the wound... and repeat the entire process on the other leg. Augmenting the left limb had been easier on some aspects and harder in others, as she would have to act quicker because of the fresh cuts, but the nerves were easier to connect. It would take time, though maybe now that she'd started the rush would die down... Or at least she hoped. People living in the Wasteland today never seemed to have that luxury- Doctors especially. The recovery would be tricky, the physical therapy to let Dante get used to this sort of change would take weeks for him to fully use to the best of his ability, much to long for a soldier... but it was necessary.
With a deep sigh, Claira could say she was finished for now, and would once again have to keep an eye on him so as to avoid and prevent complications. Now leaned against the corner wall in the recovery room, she would pass through to examine their progress in between the nurses before returning to slump against the wall. Adrenaline would do funny things to your head when running on minimal sleep, though she already knew that.

((This is very good Maw Li...although realistically, hypnotic anesthesia is rarely used. More commonly, we use analgesic anesthetics like fentanyl or propofol, or gas anesthetics such as isoflorane or sevoflorane. I'll be back and active by the 15th, keep up the good work! ))

[aah, Wikipedia fails me. Thanks a ton though, I'm glad I'm not doing that bad. Once again not sure on estimated time for this, though.]
The days following seemed to drag by, ever so slowly calming, at least in regards to Dante's case. The soldier's body hadn't rejected the replacements, so the last step was to make sure he could actually make use of them. After a week of rest, little by little the staff started to aid the Knight and synchronize the signals from his head to his legs, the short, non strenuous exercise quickly lengthening to where Dante had little issue walking with the implanted cybernetics. Claira honestly felt like she'd just gotten lucky. He would have to train and sort of re-learn his usual movements on the battlefield on his own for the most part, but had he any issues with the fiber alloy acting with the surrounding muscle, he'd have to return to the medical center, of course. By the middle of the fourth week after the surgery, her Squad Leader was just about ready to be given back his equipment and discharged. Once again, she felt things had been a bit rushed on his recovery, but he'd healed up well and she'd seen so far that these men hated to be kept out of the action to long.
With a sigh of relief, Claira could now settle into her 'office' that she still had barely peered in since she arrived.

Dr. Sanyusen stepped out of the vertibird that had landed on the roof of the Medical Center. The dust swirled around his feet and blew his lab-coat askew as the rotor blades slowed down and eventually stopped. Alexi had taken the medical vertibird on his emergency trip to the vault and had just returned from his operation. Alexi pushed open the doors to the 2nd story of the Medical Center and stepped into the Elevator. Consulting his Pipboy, Alexi happily noted that Dante's operation had concluded successfully. His service not required, Alexi proceeded to go to his office, where he would nap until the start of the next day.

Alexi arose from his sleep feeling much more refreshed than usual. Donning his medical scrubs and white lab coat, he opened the door of his office and made his way to the officer's ward, where Dante should be resting after his operation. Dr. Sanyusen nodded to the ward nurse as he walked though the open doors of the Officer Ward, and proceeded to Dante's room, making sure to check the vital monitors before entering. The door creaked a little as Alexi entered Dante's room.

Her office was now neat and organized, if only because she had few personal belongings to clutter it, though she knew that would come eventually. The last few days had been much more quiet, other patient cases aside. Illnesses or injuries that had previously been a serious problem were a little bit easier to deal with now that she had such equipment available to her, and she still wasn't quite used to it. After getting word of Dr. Sanyusen's return, she had considered welcoming him back, but had chosen not to disturb him as he retreated to his office for a while. It could wait for the time being, though as she went about her day stopping by bedsides and judging diagnoses and treatments, she imagined she'd run into him eventually anyway. Yet again checking on his progress in a somewhat obsessive way, reading his documentation over and over to assure herself that Knight Dante was in working order, Claira raised her head and smiled as the door opened, "Oh! Welcome back, sir.".

Alexi smiled at the greeting, " Hello Claira. I see the operation went well. How is our knight doing?" he asked he moved to the opposite side of Dante's bed and pulled on some latex gloves. Slowly, Alexi removed the white covers from Dante's body to inspect the incision site and Dr. Mendez's handiwork. Alexi ran his hand over the inch-long stitches and nodded. No pus or torn dermis. The stitches had been done correctly, and with attention to detail. The scar on Dante's legs would be hairline thin and hardly noticeable.

She set aside the folder and stood from the small chair on the far wall and as Alexi graded her and the modifications she'd had to almost guess on, Claira tangled her fingers together in front of her. "Aah, Yes I-... I believe he's doing well, showing progression... His body has taken to the implant and minor physical therapy has been relatively easy given his circumstances.", She said with a curt nod and bit of a smile, "He's been anxious of course, but not so to make things any more difficult.".

Alexi nodded and replaced the sheet on Dante's lower body. "Looks excellent doctor! Keep him on the antibiotics, and continue the good work!" Dr. Sanyusen pulled off the latex gloves and tossed them into the biohazard bin. "When you have the time, stop by my office, we have a few things to discuss" said Alexi offhandedly as he reached for the door handle. The Senior Knight was smiling gently as he opened the door and slipped into the hall.

Alex came walking into the Medical Center late one afternoon, which was unusual for her, as she usually was only seen out and about during the night. Stepping in through the doors with a faint smile on her face, Alex walked up to the desk, leaning against it gently. "Well hello there Nurse Parsons." Alex said sounding rather chipper.
"Miss Varg...." Nurse Parsons replied, as she looked up at the Junior paladin. "Can i help you with anything?"
"You could be a doll and tell Alexi err i mean Doctor Sanyusen, that im here to see him."Alex said kindly as she pushed her weight off the front desk, and limberly slipped away into the waiting area.

Alexi's beeper sounded as he walked towards his office and he instinctively flipped it open to see the message. Dr. Sanyusen's eyes widened at the surprise. Paladin Varg to see him? Something must be up. Changing his path from the Doctor corridor to the waiting room, Alexi was happy to see the Paladin sitting in one of the many chairs apparently looking well. Nodding to Nurse Parsons appreciatively, Alexi approached the Paladin slowly and smiled, "What can I do for you Alex?"
