Theme Song: I Speak a Promise. . .

The golden sun that slipped through the leafy foilage of the branches high overhead flooded warmly over her pale skin, alighting it with a certain soft golden glow. The young woman who called herself Serafina Ludd stopped here, at the crossroads, not far from where she had once lived with her mother. She then, lifting the both of her arms, gently slipped back the gold-embroidered crimson veil of her robes, and shook free red locks that were just as crimson russet in the sun.

The long wavy locks cascaded down, flowing to below her hips. Serafina was by far from short in the consideration of height for a young woman, though, compared to the pureblooded angel race, that might've perhaps been another matter of discussion... The phoenix people weren't known to be giants of nature - if she had been a human, the girl would've actually been considered fairly tall. So strange it was to consider now, recently initialized as a Holy Paladin, to return to this part of the country, her birthplace... But no matter. It was suggested of her as an offhand saying, really, and Serafina, leaving with half a ear, didn't stop to really hear the authority's lingering words of why the Paladins were here in the holy forest.

To practice, she had assumed, or otherwise. But no matter...she was only here to observe, nothing more. The golden sun that fell over her hair lit the burning locks with fire, as the young woman stood silently at the edge. She didn't approach the other paladins, merely stood there, a strange look in her crimson-golden gaze.

But the golden emblem on her tunic proved she was one of their ranks.

"Sure, if that's what you want." Dre said as he pushed himself back up to his feet. "Although I was just getting warmed up." He said with a smile as an arrow darted through the forest hitting the tree behind him, missing his face by mere inches. He looked to arrow which had a small scroll wrapped around it. He pulled out the arrow and unrolled the scroll reading through it quickly before taking it off the arrow and pushing it into his pocket. He spun the arrow between his fingers. "Well, it seems like I've been called to take care of something. Rain, I expect you to keep these young ladies out of trouble."

Salaura was perplexed by the method that Dre received his mysterious message, but someone else out in the forest was even more perplexing.
When Salaura sensed people, it was as if she could hear a tone in her head. Raizo, for example, sounded like the grating, slithery sound of talons on stone in her head. This new tone almost sounded like singing, and Salaura had only heard such a tone around divine creatures. So, with a nod to Gabrielle and Raizo, Salaura went in serch of whoever she was sensing.

Theme Song: Aria of the Skies. . .

But...what matter is it, to her...? She didn't intend to go up to them. And so, Serafina remained where she was, hidden by the verdant forest's black shade for a moment longer... Then turning, a few strands of flame-colored hair flowing with the motion, she began to walk away. As she approached deeper and deeper into the forest, walking at her fair pace, she drew closer to where she and Artemis, her mother, had used to spend their days together.

A small smile, almost slightly rueful, crossed over her lips, as she remembered picking herbs and then returning, her mother would always have the house full of the best scents... In a sunny little spot beneath a great tree, where pools of golden light would gather, having bypassed the upper canopy, she sat. Her mother used to say that the sun would always, unfailingly wait for the youth... But as she drew close, the little pool of golden light cringed away from her, and at this, she stopped.

Instead then, she took her place a little away from that spot by the tree. The same tree still, close enough so that her fingers could almost reach out and bathe in the liquid-gold warmth, yet far away all the same. Closing her eyes, leaning against the bark of the tree, she began humming a soft song to herself. Wordless as ever, and though Artemis had sought to prevent her daughter from knowing... She knew, now.

The phoenix children could not speak...

But she could sing. And so that, she did...

Sala could still hear the 'singing' in hr head, but it was drawing further away, and at a rather quick pace, so Salaura herself quickened her steps until whoever she was sensing stopped.
Then Sala could hear actual singing. She was close enough to see that she was a girl with red hair and tall for a human, with a waistline that would make most other women green with envy.
Salaura kept still, not wanting to startle the singer

Theme Song: Aria of the Skies. . .

The notes poured from her lips, and her ethereal voice filled the forest with gentle melody that seemed to be carried away by the very wind. The girl was more the siren bird than woman, but the melody that left her lips had such a peaceful peace in it, that surely, it couldn't have been anything of harm...? Well, at least not this aria, and allowing the injuries of nature around her to draw on her immense reserve of mana, dying or wilting plants, succumbing to the coming suffocatingly warm months, were actually healing, becoming healthy again, and blossoming as if caught by a spell of eternal spring...

Crunch.

...her unnatural hearing caught the sound of the barest crunch - perhaps a fallen twig suffering a crack and startled, she stopped. Big, crimson eyes opened and settled on the newcomer, regarding Salarua with an expression that settled between surprise and, when that had gone, there was almost a certain other aspect in her manner... Like the startled sparrow would regard an approaching human, not sure whether to consider this was an enemy or a friend, but neither felt any harmful intention and thus so had not immediately considered flight.

Or, perhaps, what was more startling to her... Someone had found, and come, for her? A lingering moment passed, she watching that girl, and perhaps the other way around too, Serafina's uncertainty growing with the delicate breeze that wove its way between the trees, ducking and hiding, darting to and fro, as children would do in their game. They took at her hair, weaving ghostly fingertips through the crimson strands, but as if the invisible children bore the sunlight with them, when Salarua would have looked, the sunlight had moved closer to Serafina without the girl's notice, and fell in a golden halo over her burning hair.

She reached forth both her hands, in a gesture that was almost as graceful as the dancer in her performance, and just as quickly, she brought the hands to her collarbone, inverting them inwards and allowing the fingertips to touch the gold-embroidered red collar of her dress. At her neck, in two parts on the collar of her dress, was embroidered the emblem of the Holy Knights.

Salaura was spotted. What was odd was how the girl looked at her. Sala half-expected her to c**k her head to one side to get a better look, then take wing and fly away.
Instead she made a gesture and showed the emblem of the Holy Knights.
Sala put one hand out to he girl, palm up as if she was showing that she meant no harm before saying:
"Pray continue please, that is a beautiful melody."

Theme Song: The Meaning of Loneliness. . .

Instead of what Salaura might've expected, more likely than so for Serafina to relax, instead, the girl's expression gradually shifted and more took to the spectrum of curiosity. After all, she already knew that Salaura was a Holy Knight (or at least had guessed it), for her original inquiry to the Order was where perhaps her teammates had been sent to.

But she obliged.

Getting up, and reaching her right hand forward, while the other was placed over her heart, a melody of terrible beauty spilled from her lips. The aria of the sky resounded against the vast blue, and even the gentle wind seemed to shudder. Her voice was like crystal bells, an ethereal voice both like and unlike the birds: the tone trembled so delicately, so lovely, that it was hard to discern for a moment whether Serafina was truly bird or woman. Or even perhaps, if the melody had come from beyond the choirs of angels themselves high in heaven...

And so, her song continued, when she finally stopped, the notes seemed to still linger in the air. When the melody has reached its final cadence, and disappeared into the air like a spell of the morning breeze, she let her aura materialize enough to form the shape of wings. Like angel wings, but these were fire-red, the color of flames.

A phoenix child.

It made sense, why Serafina was mute, then.

Salaura listened in awe. She had heard the singing of angels firsthand and this did not even compare. When Serafina stopped, Salaura took a moment to wipe the tears from her eyes. Then she saw ethereal wings the color of flames. Then Sala's studies returned to her.
"You...are a phoenix?" She asked.

((My turn to apologize for being away so long))

Gabrielle had jumped, barely giving a look at Raizo when he attacked her. As Dre retrieved on a personal errand, Gabrielle looked at the young strider.

"Let's put on hold the training for now."

She new someone was near. A holy knight. One of the knew ones, the one she had not met yet.
As Salaura walked away drawn by the new comer's presence, the leader of the holy knights stayed still for a moment.
Then she slowly started to move towards the two holy knights, inviting Raizo to follow them if he wished so.

She had silently shifted the winds around the two female knights and the sounds were coming to her ears as clear as crystal although it would be impossible for anyone to hear them from that distance. The song of the phoenix had charmed her.

With a smile, Gabrielle heard the question of Salaura. She remained silent when at last she was in view of the young knights.

Theme Song: O Julia. . .

...even though she was no longer singing, this siren girl's presence alone seemed to hold a forever lingering melody. A small smile as she gazed over to Salaura answered too the girl's question, followed by a half-nod, which was almost immediately smoothly translated by a gentle shake of her head, crimson locks flowing with the gesture.

She pressed the uppermost portion of her left palm to her breast, and then gestured out with a smoothly inverted motion. As if she was attempting to catch the lingering notes of the earlier melody with her hands...did that mean something, then? And then, she pointed to the sky. The sky, slowly shifting down to herself, and then, the forest...and once more, back to herself.

The legend did have it that long ago, phoenix children lived in this forest.

Two places of origin...
...Serafina was attempting to convey to Salaura that she was only half-correct.

!

A slightly curious look passed over the phoenix child's face, sensing the presence of another.

"Sky and forest...with yourself in-between? Are you indicating that you are of...mixed parentage?" Salaura queried.
The idea of teaching Serafina Celestial, a language that was spoken in song crossed Sala's mind, but she kept the thought to herself as she saw Serafina look curious.
Salaura turned to see what had caught the phoenix child's attention.
PostPosted: Tue May 18, 2010 8:10 am

Gabrielle smiled as the phoenix creature looked her way. Bringing her her to her chest, she bowed politely.

"I am glad to meet you Serafina. I see that you have already met Salaura." said the leader of the Holy Faction with an emotionless voice.

Gabrielle thought about the first time she had met Neo. She had felt that he was his leader, she had kneed in front of him and as an answer he had flown away.
But since she became the leader, everything seemed so different. The ones from her faction were barely able to think her as one of them. None had recognized her as there leader. She was just another holy knight.
She felt lost. Was she supposed to guide them?
She was empty. Since the chaotic twins, it seemed that the world was immobile. No clash between the factions. They had learned to work together in one last stand against the threat of chaos. So now they had nothing to do.

But Gabrielle knew of Fleur, the new leader of the Dark knights. She wondered if he was as lost as she felt. He was so much younger. Yet she remembered the day she had met him. He was already so powerful.
Why me? Why am I there leader? I am no better. Oh Dimitri...how dearly I miss him. It has been so long. Would he even recognize me? My hair, my eye...those are Neo's...yet I do not feel any different.

She sighed.

Theme Song: Dearest. . .

...she didn't have time to answer Salaura in her own strange quiet way, for her attention beheld another. The woman before her gave a strange aura - like if there was something dark lingering beneath that purity, aiming to claw its way out - but sheer iron will alone held the black darkness at bay. Undoubtedly the commanding presence and grace that could belong only to one face whom she has seen in the Holy City of the Paladins. The face of the leader of the Holy Knights. A face that until now, she had only seen painted in the portraits adorning the Knights' fortress.

Her mistress and her Lady, then.

...with such awe-inspiring grace, her right hand swept elegantly before her, and then with the lower arm held in towards her breast, palm inverted skywards, Serafina swept into a deep, beautiful bow. Long strands of crimson hair fell over her shoulders with the gesture, following the general direction of movement.

Fealty.

...and Serafina knew exactly what she was giving.
