I almost cried in front of a patient today for the first time ever.
My heart is pretty hardened. I can take a seriously high amount of ******** up and tragic stories from a lot of people.
I had a 4 year old come into my office today and give me the most absolutely graphic description of extreme sexual abuse I have ever heard. She said it all with a blank face and finished with, "and then milk came out. It tasted bad so I threw up". Then her father proceeded to beat the s**t out of her for vomiting on the carpet.
This account included a**l to oral.
This started when she was 2 ******** years old. She had to get her perineum sewn up once. Her Mom said she did it falling off her bike.
Then I asked her why she beat her foster brother's head on the floor (she gave him a concussion) and was often found choking him. She said, "that's what good Mommies do. It's how babies be quiet and learn to be good".
I also suspect she has fetal alcohol syndrome.
Some people should be ******** sterilized. I need a god damned shot now.

So I take it this is one of the worst cases you've had to deal with up until now? *Shakes head.* Not sure I'd have the stomach or the patients to be able to do what you do Satil. My rant seems quite insignificant now after reading this but tonight at work this drunk ******** who has already been kicked out of the store twice in like two weeks (he was caught stealing about a year ago and was banned from the store back then), came in again tonight. He tried to steal three vibrators and because it was so damn busy the only reason we caught him was because he waited in the line to buy a fourth one. I nabbed them out of his jacket and then my friend Ka and I proceeded to try to get him the hell out of the store as he exclaims that he is just trying to help us out and he's doing us a favor. Then when we tell him to get the ******** out he says, "Fine I'll leave and I won't come back!" I wish he would actually mean this when he says this... *Twitch*

Mike Patton's score for A Perfect Place is great, but it's mixed really poorly. He put too much reverb on everything. And the mids are too high. God damn it.
EDIT: More importantly, Satil, I hope you identified the authorities. It's too late for that poor girl, but her parents need to be in jail.
Sterlization won't stop child abuse of that magnitude. Some people should be shot.

My mom is fat. I am skinny. I am also perfectly healthy. However, sometimes my mom has the audacity to tell me I am "too skinny", and that I don't eat enough.
I'm sick of her projecting her weight bullshit onto me. I love my body.
I'm going to feel sheepish posting in here every time after that horrific story from Satil. I really can't trump that.

So far while staying at my parent's house until she gets "back on her feet", my sister has managed to
- Take apart my bike without my permission and then leave it on the lawn
- Hotbox the garage at 2 AM
- And then leave the lights on in the garage even after leaving her room several times
Not bad for your first week. I'm sure you can start stealing my money and then burn the house down if you really apply yourself.

She was going to "restore it" and then decided not to because it was too rusty or something. I thought the whole point of restoring something was fixing something that was old and rusty and crap but I guess not.

Sorry I haven't posted a "follow up" to that fabulous story, but Grad school and work were in the process of kicking my a**.
And yes, that was one of the worst cases ever. I usually hear about child abuse of that magnitude second hand, either from Child Protective Services or from adults who survived abuse as kids. It was the delivery that really floored me. I've never heard a 4 year old tell me such a detailed, graphic, description of oral sex. And she told it as if this was something totally normal. And why does she beat her 3 year old brother's head on the ground and try to drown him? Why, that's how you teach babies to be good of course! Why didn't I know that?
And yes, the child's parents were already in jail. I was seeing her while in foster care. Sad news- she moved foster homes and I never saw her again, most likely discontinuing mental health services. The kid is going to be institutionalized in another 5-6 years when her violent tendencies cause her to really harm another child.
That being said- I ******** love my job. I have some real heart warmers too. This one was just the shittiest case ever.

I'm wondering what it would feel like to have an isolated viewpoint on life...where you just don't care for anyone else but as people. nothing more. Just withering the heart of trust, limiting it to anyone else but yourself, the friends you grew up with, and your family.

I'm not interested in what 16-year-old armchair philosophers have to say about gay marriage or international politics or scientific theories that they really have no understanding of. Just because I'm willing to hang around the Sci&Tech forum and berate people about mathematics doesn't mean I want to talk to you pretentious, uneducated twits. No, you don't have anything interesting to say, you're just an arbitrarily handpicked bunch of pundits and self-styled analysts who like to make broad generalizations and grand, indignant gestures to try to seem insightful. The last time I joined a guild like that I had to fabricate a personal crisis to garner any entertainment.
