Hikari lifted her head, watching Kurama pour her a glass of water. She took a sip before setting it back down. "Okay, I guess? Just been out." Hikari responded before starting to work with Kurama on the Chinese. The only reason she couldn't do this on her own was because she couldn't read any Japanese, which is what everything here was. Hearing the door open, Hikari turned slightly in her chair, seeing Shiori come in with grocery bags. She'd gotten more used to being around the woman since Hiei had been having her come over generally whenever he did. "Is that okay?" Hikari didn't want to be a bother on the woman. "I can go get food at the mall later..."

"Thanks Mrs. Minamino." Hikari actually liked having a home cooked meal. Whenever she wasn't at the temple, and even sometimes when she was at the temple would get herself a quick fast food meal or sandwich from a grocery store when she had money. Looking back at the book, Hikari stared at the word that Kurama pointed at. "...Niihau?" Hikari guessed, unsure since she couldn't read the symbols.

Hikari bit her lip. She couldn't read these at all which was the problem, but she didn't want to make Kurama say each word in Japanese so she could try and say the chinese word that way. The girl had to try and just remember what the symbols looked like. "...Sheshei?" Hikari asked before looking back up at Kurama. "If you want me to? Or I can just come back in the morning." She had a feeling that Hiei would question why she was spending the night there anyway.

Hikari would sleep on the floor if she really did stay the night. The young girl wasn't used to comfortable bed anyway. When Hiei went up, Hikari stared at the book, flipping through the pages and trying to make sense of it, but it all just looked like boxes and lines. "Japanese is weird..." She mumbled under her breath before seeing the book dropped in front of her. She blinked, then actually smiled. Something Hikari could actually understand! "How's Hiei?" Hikari asked as she opened up the pages, looking over the familiar lettering. The girl had only gotten through elementary school english, but it was enough for this.

"Did you give him a pain killer or anything?" Hikari asked, glancing up from her book slightly before looking back down, quietly pronouncing some of the words that she knew in English to be able to say in Chinese. She was going to have to be at this book all night.

Hikari was about to ask something else until remembering that Shiori didn't know about demons and all that still. "...I still don't get why you wanna work in a needle factory. It smells and they poke people with sharp stuff and stick you in gross looking dresses where your butt sticks out." She stated, tapping a page. She tilted her head to the side slightly, looking down at a word that she decided to skip, flipping to another page. "China's gonna be weird."

Hikari looked up when she heard footsteps back at the stairs. Seeing Hiei, Hikari quickly closed the book and moved it under her legs on the chair to hide it. She crossed her arms back on the top of the table as if she hadn't been doing anything. "A little while ago." Hikari responded to Hiei, watching him go into the kitchen. She nodded to Kurama about the book, even though she had already hidden it.

Hikari watched Hiei walk away, keeping a straight face even though she was worried about him. She wasn't used to seeing Hiei like this. Sometimes she forgot that Hiei wasn't invincible. The girl turned back to Kurama and Shiori after a moment, listening to how no one was going to be home. Moving the book out from under her legs, Hikari went back to looking at one more page for now, keeping the book down by her lap.
