Waveform Miss Organism Waveform Sinusoid Miss Organism I lost my damn glasses. Actually, they aren't lost, they're at my friend's house. Who, simmilar to me, cannot drive. So I can't get them, and he can't bring them to me. And to be honest, I can't remember how to get to his house. Fail quails. Unpleasant pheasants. In europe we have something called " public transportation". The concept is quite brilliant really. : ) Quote: My cat ******** class="clear"> : < Were you guys close? Ya. He was old though. It was kind of weird having a cat die at 16 because I guess every other cat I've know has lived to be like 20. He apparently had some kitty cancer in his spleen and his kidneys failed ... That's pretty sad, I'm sorry to hear it. If I lost my cats I dunno what I'd do D: I really loved that cat, but he wasn't "mine". And everybody else seems a lot more upset about it than I am ... I think I have been desensitized to pet death. My fish did kill 11 tankmates, after all. Egads. What kind of fish is it?

Miss Organism Egads. What kind of fish is it? She's a Black Belt cichlid. Central American cichlids are very territorial and aggressive. She's a little under 4" now, her max adult size is about 9". I'll take a better picture later.

Waveform I think I have been desensitized to pet death. My fish did kill 11 tankmates, after all. Cichlids are bloodthirsty. I once bred a tank of convict cichlids, but the mother tore thru everything that moved, her babies included. Even my pleco that was 4 times her size and built like a tank was eventually killed off. That b***h went berserk.

That's what I thought, I just couldn't think of the species XD I raise and breed Bettas, mostly Blue, Black, and combination colors, though the more solid they are, the more valuable. But they're prettyyyyy.

I hate people today. Well, I hate certain people.
Today I learned that I can threaten to sodomize someone with their own eyeballs in front of my mother and she won't reprimand me.

Alrighty. Here is Motobu at a few months old. And here is Moto yesterday. To be honest, I am surprised she held still long enough for me to take her picture. Her stunning blue eyes are worth noting; she is perhaps a different strain of Black Belt or a hybrid, as all photos of V. maculicauda I have seen have yellow eyes. She's blossoming into a beautiful young ... fish. I would estimate she is about 18 months old now. If I take good care of her she may live to be nine or ten. Note to non-cichlid owners: She did not have a bar pattern when she was younger, displaying bars and erect fins is a threat response. The camera scares her.

Randolyn Motobu really does have pretty blue eyes. Will she ever have a boyfriend? heart ninja pirate Had you ever considered that maybe she doesn't like boy fishies? :< My tank's really not big enough for that. It might be difficult to find her a suitable mate, anyway. The local shop I bought her from was closed down by the California Department of Fish and Game for selling a hybrid of an endangered species or something. And I'm worried a bigger cichlid would hurt her. I certainly don't want that.

Maybe she only likes male Blackbelts. heart ninja pirate

This is what it looked like before Moto was old enough to destroy it at her whim. Nope. I bought her by herself when her brother died after refusing to eat(it seemed like almost every other cichlid in her brood met the same fate. I would not have bought her had I know she was wildcaught). They never got more after that. Then they were closed down. The death tally is: 1 Angelfish 1 Green Terror 1 Firemouth 2 common Plecostomus 3 Emerald Cories (two of them actually survived for a few months) 1 Peacock Eel (god damnit, he was so cool too) and two I forgot, apparently The aquarium is only big enough for one adult cichlid of moderate size, although some would argue that it is not even big enough for that.

Randolyn It looks like poor Motobu is destined to be a singleton. crying Maybe she will mellow with age question Aaaahahaha. Haaahahaha. Aha. Ha. She's only going to grow more violent. She's just not a team player. Not much I can do about it. Cichlids are naturally aggressive and territorial, and Moto doesn't happen to be very mellow(some cichlids are, and some are not). It is no wonder she survived her brothers and sisters. I'm sure in the wild she'd have been very successful.

My friend just had a cichlid problem, the agressive female took all of the eyes out of her tankmates [all the same species of cichlid]. She started getting really territorial over her tank decorations, then just decided to go apeshit.
