I did say "once in a while" D:
Like, you know, once in a while. "I wonder what ______ is doing?"

Well, she's finally done it. My fish has decided it's time for her to destroy my aquarium.
Yes, she's a central american cichlid.

Is she like a Jack Dempsey or a Pink Convict? pirate She's a Blackbelt. She doesn't much like to be photographed. She's about a year old. Barely a juvenile. She just decided a few days ago that she didn't like that the substrate didn't have big pits in it, or the fact that there are plants in the aquarium with her. Yesterday and today she decided that she'd just tear the healthier of the two plants to shreds for no real reason.

Randolyn She's a real cuttie Waveform. What's her name? Does she live by herself? Maybe she's lonely. cry Her name is Motobu(clever), and she's killed eleven tankmates so far. You really can't keep central american cichlids with anything else. Eventually she's going to reach around 9" long. In unrelated news, it's excruciatingly frustrating writing jazz/funk/disco songs and not being able to find any decent soundfonts, so you can't even really hear what you've composed.

Well, this explains why she's been acting so weird: She's laid eggs. There is certainly no remaining doubt as to the sex of this fish. It's hard to see, but her eyes are sort of a cobalt blue in the other photo, and here you can see they are amber. They change sometimes.

I'm assuming that all of those eggs are unfertilized since she has probably killed off all of her potential mates. Maybe you can tell what kind of mood she is in by the color of her eyes. ninja

When she's not in mom mode her eyes are usually amber right when she wakes up and turn blue later in the day. Most of them have turned white and fungus-y by now. I'm not sure what to do, she's supposed to be weeding out the white ones. I don't want to just take away her brood, viable or not.

I either have bronchitis or sinusitis, so I'm on a perscription of antibiotics that cover both. I'm dead tired and have to go to a really boring lecture that just drags on and on in like 30 minutes (takes me 10 to walk there). Then I have to go to work where I'll do a lot of mindless data entry and stuffing envelopes for three and a half hours, then I have to go study.
I'm hating life right now sad
