i just read the first post because i dont want to get into too many spoilers, bacially i just heard of this series and where does this take place? before yugioh, after, and does yugioh show up in this series? ... it just makes the picture diffrent if your not seeing the main characters on the scene ... im used to seeing yugioh and his crew (i forgot their names, i haven't seen anty episodes in a long time and im just now getting back into yugioh here)

yugi (not "yugioh") does make a small cameo in the first episode, but that's it. Same with kaiba, but that's later on in the show. and pegasus actually hired one of the slifer reds to work for him, so all of the old characters make rather unimportant cameo appearences once in a while...but that's all. only one's i've seen, though, are yugi, pegasus and kaiba, though

yes, there's a plot. if you were watching the early episodes, it just shows the judai (jaden) is being as cheap as yugi. later they have this story about this group trying to steal these 3 cards (the sacred beast) underneth duel acadamy. of course, in order to do so under the rules, they had to duel to win these stupid key. i prefure the second season where this psychic brainwashes the blue dorm and tryes to destroy the word. the cards are so much better then in the first season.

I honestly find YGO GX to be a simplized, american-ized, kid-ified version of the original. Gone are all the things that made the show even remotely exciting: the part of the plot that DOSEN'T completely concern dueling. Ant that dosen't even include the outfits! Who ever heard of an anime where everyone wears the same thing but in different colors!?
