Nathan laughed as he slowly jogged through garden only to hear footsteps jogging closer. Assuming it was Garrat, he laughed and jogged off into the hedge maze, unbeknownst of Reynard flying above. The prince continued to giggle with every turn he ran through the muddy maze, the hedges were still wet from previous morning down pour.

Garrat followed the sound of Nathaniel's laughter, though the maze made everything more difficult. He had to follow Reynard at that point, though he also had to watch himself to make sure he did not run into the hedge. Though this should be exasperating, he thoroughly enjoyed the game and let out a chuckle or two.

Nathaniel knew this maze all too well. From his bedroom window, he could see the path that could be used to get the middle veranda. It was spectacular with polished marble columns and flowered vines that engulfed the white and golden trimmed structure in an array of marvelous colors and scents. He picked a rose that was old and had many white petals. Clutched the green leaves of the hedge and over on the other side, and Saw a confused moving Garrat below on the other side and teasingly blew and playfully scattered the white petals over his handsome friend. Quickly, Nathan ran to hide behind a column as he jofully waited him friend.

Garrat noticed the petals and knew where Nathaniel was. Unfortunately, he himself had yet to remember how to get there, so he had to use Reynard as a guide. Upon reaching the veranda, he put on a playful air or mock-unknowing. "Well, this is unfortunate. It seems Nathaniel has disappeared," he said, listening for giggles. "The Queen surely won't be happy about this." He silently checked the pillars.

Much like the classic cat mouse game of Peter Pan and Captain Hook, the young prince would seem to be just out Garrat's line of sight so he sneak to another column. When Garrat began to play along, that was when he could most likely find the young man, his giggling would give him away. " The queen is hardly ever happy, what can you do for her, brave knight?" Nathan replied as he ran to one more pillar before finally loosing sight of Garrat and becoming slightly confused.

Garrat stayed silent until he checked the last pillar and found Nathaniel. "I'll have to find her son, of course," he said, playfully grabbing the prince's shoulders. Then he put on a serious face again. "Really, Nathaniel, trying to play hide-and-seek while you're still sick?"

Nathan laughed and smiled and was ready to hug and jump all over his knight until the soldier's face grew serious. Still smiling and laughing, he leaned against the marble pillar and grinned, " I..I thought the fresh air would be good.... Didn't you have fun..?'' he asked biting his lip. A blow of cold air swept through out the garden and the clouds rolled in again but Nathaniel seemed sturdy and ready to play some more..

"Yes," Garrat admitted, "but I think I would have had more fun if you weren't so ill." Though it seemed Nathaniel had recovered very quickly this time. That was a first. "Let's go back to your room. Your mother might have been alerted to your escape by now."

Nathan laughed and reached up to touch Garrat's hair. "Alright, alright, just let me get the leaves and .. Petals out of your hair. Hehe... I hope you don't ever cut your hair.." He hummed as his pale cold fingers picked and dropped the little green leaves. "Garrat, what do you want for you birthdays this year?" He asked rather randomly.

Garrat hadn't thought about his birthday, really. It never seemed very important to him and Nathaniel was the only one who ever bothered to try to celebrate it. What would he like? "Your heart would be nice," he said in a joking manner.

Now, Garrat was a wonderful soul. But when he joked about, it was one of two things, sweet or scary. "Garrat... That sounds like you want my heart on a plate .." He frowned, then giggled. "Something like that would be hard to do don't you think?" He smiled and linked his arm around Garrat's. The man already had the Prince's heart..."really though, I want to give you something special this year... Will you tell me?" He purred

Garrat chuckled at Nathaniel's observation. A heart on a platter wasn't very appealing. "Nathaniel, you know me better than that," the knight chuckled, but he became a bit irked when the prince clung to his arm and purred. It was temptation to Garrat and he feared losing control of himself after the years of holding back. Gently as he could, he pulled his arm away. "There's no need. Even if I am to tell you, it's not something you can simply give me."

This was odd... Nathan didn't really expect Garrat to pull his arm away. A small twinge of tightness formed from that but it was nothing serious nor noticeable. Maybe he was in the fault here and accidentally went too far for Garrat. But weren't they together already? Nathaniel just thought he'd have to test the water with Garrat just a little more! The prince would hate to be pushing too much affection on someone who didn't feel the same way. All of these assumptions and Nathan never bothered to talk to Garrat about any of them. Not even aware of his own insensitivities towards the knight's own struggles. Then again, this was love, right? It wasn't so easy to simply talk about... Perhaps, the boy would just see how much contact Garrat could handle.
He smiled and gave a light chuckle again, " Of course I can. You just have to tell me, silly. I am a prince after all..... Well I can still try to get it for you, even it my princely charms don't work~" he bantered as they walked out of the maze.

This was a chance to confess, wasn't it? Garrat just couldn't decide if he should take it. Would Nathaniel hate him? The prince seemed like the kind of person who would care about him no matter what, and he seemed loving sometimes, but the knight just thought it was attributed to Nathaniel's innocence. "This is something no one can simply obtain, Nathaniel. It's alright for me if I don't get it," he said. "Of course, it would be nice if I had it, wonderful even, but I'm content already without it." He was trying to avoid the answer, to delay the inevitable hatred.

Nathan clearly wasn't quiet understanding just what Garrat truly wanted, his cheeks puffed as he pouted, " Now this sounding like a riddle. Garrat, for 21 years, you tell me the same thing.. And then I end up giving you something you've probably eaten or thrown away by now! I will give you what you really want! Anything your heart desires! " he was getting excited and took Garrat's hand in his own and pulled it up, wrapping both hands around the knight's fingers, " you just need to tell me.." He begged with excitedly happy eyes! Now the prince was certain that Garrat would tell him!
His eyes sparkled as he joyfully awaited for Garrat's answer, when a shrill voice pierced the air! It was Nana looking for the sick prince.. But she was a bit of a ways off and despite her calling, Nathaniel held tighter and waited for what Garrat would want!
