hey! i am new to gaia and i wanted to find a place that could talk about jazz. in 5th grade i started playing alto, in 6th grade i switched to tenor, and in 7th grade i switched to bari and ive been playing it ever since. bari sax is so awesome! i play in the jazz band, marching band (yes i march with a bari biggrin ) and typical band class. i also play piano, clarient, and trombone. i really really love jazz, my teacher says its in my heart and flows through my blood. i hope to meet some awesome jazz people and make cool friends!

yo.
Ive played bass for 5 years (self-taught), trombone for 7 (classically trained). Currently im pretty heavy into latin jazz, but im open to just about any style. Jaco Pastorius, John McLaughlin, and Django Reinhardt are my heroes. And maybe its personal preference, but ill take a good sax solo over a good trumpet solo any day of the week.

Heya everyone.
Well i've been playing the alto saxophone since 5th grade. Started playing jazz in the middle of my 7th grade year. Also played the tenor in jazz my 8th grade year and the bari in symphonic band that year as well. And i've stuck with the alto since. The hardest thing for me is improve. I have a terrible hear for music but i love music with all of my heart.... ironic, i know.

Hullo to you all. I've played bass in jazz band for a little over 2 years. I've played piano for over 9 years, and I picked up the bass really quickly. This past year I've really gotten into jazz music. I love it!
I'm playing in a jazz trio with my friend on drums and his older brother (who graduated highschool this spring) on sax. He (the brother) is really really good, so it makes us sound even better.
Some of the jazz I've been listening too lately is of course the classics; Ellington, Davis etc. but I also like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Big Phat Band. Or whatever comes my way.
I actually had my jazz band audition today. I'm really hoping I'll make Jazz I, but that would mean my good friend would be playing in a lower band than last year. I hope she isn't too upset.
So... yeah. I'm excited to be a part of this guild!

Hi all!! My name is Andeh. I live in Florida. I'm 24 years young and I'm married to the best guy in the world. heart heart My fave kind of jazz is acid jazz and old school jazz like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. I'm actually going to a show in October to see Kaskade. (an acid jazz artist) Pretty excited about that.
