NICHOLAS ∮ KINDLEHORN■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■PERHAPS IT wasn't a match made in heaven, or even one made willingly, but Nicholas was quite possibly the least bothered by the prospect of marrying a stranger. Despite his father's... tendency towards blonde women, the lady beside him (whom he had still yet to ask for a name) could very well be what he needed --a strong personality who understood, or could learn to understand, the delicate nature of compromise.
Most importantly, she could hold his attention far longer than the vast majority. Ironically enough, Nicholas abhorred boredom and predictability, even if his profession called for it.
And it was because of his sudden interest that he had allowed her to spin their story, explaining to those forward enough to inquire about his little lapse in judgement, that he had not just tried to kill his fiancé. What a lapse in judgement it was indeed. Nicholas hated the idea that her first impression of him would be one of a childish man who could barely control his temper. He hated it almost as much as the idea that it had happened at all.
Image was everything in their world. Over the course of his adolescent years, he had become very acquainted to that truth. It was what now allowed him to excel in politics, get away with things that warranted a criminal record, and support the title of "Harbinger of Misfortune". Unfortunately, his skills did not extend to his personal life.
Luckily for him though, as soon as he recognized his father's voice announcing the opening formalities, Nicholas found his necessary foothold and reverted back into his business game. By disassociating himself from his own feelings, he became analytical, rational, logical.
Of course, he could see no immediate logic to his particular engagement to Miss Saxton, but he was sure there was a reason. His father wouldn't have put him with a half-blood without a sensible reason.
Right? ((Ouch, Nicholas went there. Just as a side note, he doesn't hold anything against children of mixed parents, or marrying someone who is not European. He means no offense with that term. He's only curious as to why, considering he expected to marry a white woman, despite his frequent travels to East Asia.))■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ LOVE ME LIKE YOU LOVE A VIPER

Sheerona Elizabeth Saxton Sheera sighed softly and stayed close to Nicholas, thanking the waiter as she took a flute and listened to the speech. They were to go live together, grand venture that would turn to be.
She would be in a home filled with children who disliked her, with a husband-to-be who nearly choked her to death within a few minutes of conversing. She would not be able to return home to a drunkened fool of a father, nor could she hide anywhere.. Blonde hair and dark skin were to obvious on either side of the spectrum of society. She had a feeling this was going to end terribly.. it was a shame that one could not see the future in champagne.
She tilted her head back and drank it down, the countdown ringing in her ears as she shut her eyes. It would be grand, wouldnt it, if she could fall down a rabbit hole like Alice? She, of course, had to open her eyes as number one passed.
Her body listed slightly to one side, causing her to catch her footing once more. To much noise, to much excitement, to much time spent in this hellish place. She wanted to go home.. she wanted to wake up from this dream and look in the mirror and smile at how the strange storybooks of hers made her dream funny dreams.
"Happy New Year Nicholas." She said quietly.

[[Broken Image]]_Todd_ "Fox" Todd sighed he heard the name of who he was suppose dot be marrying, and it was sealed at midnight. It was now January, and 18 something or other. the announcements were over, and if he moved fast he could catch the ends of the pubs festivities. So Todd downed his water and went for the bathroom, careful to avoid his mother this time, Todd made it to the rubbish-bin here his, or "Fox"'s clothes were. he changed in haste but was careful t leave his clothes in a findable place. he then looked int he mirror he ruffled his hair so that it was rather unrecognizable, Todd stepped outside, the last thing he needed was dirt. He rubbed it over his face and ran it through his hair, and to make himself look even worse(and to fix some of that rubbish-bin smell) her ran water form an outside tap through his clothes, it got rid of some of the smell.
Todd had to go through the ballroom again to get out to the pub. he didn't expect to run into anyone, most avoided him, as he avoided most of them. He was paying such close attention to getting to the door and avoiding family members he nearly walked into a young lady. She had a white dress on and was very pretty her hair was light and she had blue eyes. a boy was by her, he had light hair as well and was wearing very nice glasses.
"Happy new year to yeh." He said pulling an Irish-Scottish accent together. Little did it occur to him that he had just walked right to his fiancee as his alter ego. Of course it didn't' occur to him and he just smiled crookedly. he was gonna get tossed out any minute, he was sure of that.

The camera is the tool by which I capture the world...

Laurence listened to the announcement. He wasn't that surprised about the pairings, he already knew Jaime was his bride, though he didn't recognize the name of the woman engaged to his little brother. He almost felt sorry for the girl, whoever she may be, and hoped she was the kind of person who could learn to deal with Nicholas' eccentric style and mixture of attitudes. Nick was a good guy, very smart man with a lot of business sense. Sometimes too much, but he knew his brother well enough.
What did surprise him, however, was the announcement that they would all be, along with some guests, lodging at his fathers country house. That... That couldn't be right. The country house was a place where Lenny and his siblings went often during the warm summers. It was an exceptionally large place, with a good thirty acres of land under it. The house itself was a good size, but Lenny knew how many rooms and guest rooms were there and he knew they would be remodeled to fit more then one person per room.. If they hadn't already.
Regardless...
The look on Laurence Kindlehorn's pale face was one of miserable dismay. He very much didn't like the idea of taking everyone to the summer home. Tons of thoughts coursed through his mind right now: How would the rooms be arranged? Would anybody choose to break things in arguments and ruin his childhood summer-home? Why hadn't HE been told ahead of time? And... Would they indeed lock them in. The Maison had gates surrounding the property, and it would be dreadful if they were kept from leaving. Granted there was a private family clinic on the grounds, and the servants would likely be allowed to leave to go shopping..
Laurence looked over at Lanna after a long moment between her asking her question and his realizing he was back in the ballroom and out of his own head.
"Ah.. I'm.. Not quite sure, I'm afraid."
As everyone began celebrating the new years, Laurence turned in his seat again to face the table, and leaning over it, spit what was left of his clove his cigarette into the glass of champagne a waiter had put in front of him while he was distracted. "yeah...Anyways," He said, leaning back again and raising a hand to ruffle through his hair with his long fingers as his eyes slid over to the girl next to him.
"...Happy new years Cecielanna."

S σ ρ h i a ╬ T н o m a s [[Broken Image]]Parting her hands from Art's, Sophia turned her attention to one of five men who were talking to each other. With such a brilliant and commanding voice, the lady pardoned no attention to those around her and focused all her immediate reactions on the man. How he went from a drunken fool to a commanding and loud speaker was a mystery. When the man was speaking about the couples engagements, her attention was sharpened as she wondered who would happen to join her family. More importantly, who was the man would she would have to learn all the gossip about?
Taking one of glasses presented by the waiters, she thanked him quietly than proceeded to listen to the man. Though, his speech was at a halt as another one of the men continued. It was weird not really knowing who these men were. She knew the names and she knew some of the children, but she was so self-absorbed in herself that she didn't even bother learning who these men were. It was than did she learn who the first speaker was. The drunken man who she mentally made fun of was none other than her uncle. Confusion enveloped the young woman, causing her to be at a loss of words.
As each men had their words said, Sophia looked down at the ground, feeling embarrassed. She wasn't ready to deal with family drama here. She wouldn't have minded other's drama, but her own. Maybe if she were not to make a big deal out of it, it wouldn't be that bad. Than again, Sophia was to be a drama queen at times. As the men all proposed their future plans involving the couples including those related or close to them, she was glad that her uncle wouldn't be at their temporary residence. When all the arrangements were told, Sophia imitated everyone by clapping along with them. After that, she quietly cheered along with everyone, her tone a bit more solemn. Art sighed but smield anyway. "I suppose I'll be seeing you to huh?" he asked still holding a grin. It was new years now, and with new years brought new thigns. Like new frienships. Art wouldn't mind being friends with Sophia. he looked off and saw catri, there was someone talking to her that wasn't walking to her before, eh was scraggly and looked like he had spent the night in the garbage-bin. "Hm?" She couldn't really hear Laurence, since the other guests were cheering about merrily. She moved closer to him and then smiled when she made out what was being mouthed. Her eyes soften a little and she was about to reply, but saw a waiter come by. Cecielanna couldn't help it, she stood from her chair and elegantly lifted two glass cups off of the tray. She stood next to Laurence and handed him one glass, "You're the first one to say that to me this year. So I'll return the favor," a smile on her lips and her teal eyes soften even more, "...Happy New Year, Laurence." She slightly tilt her head to the side again, leaning more towards one shoulder and gave a wink. Her head sat straight again and she lifted that cold glass to those lips that parted only to let the red wine seep in. She savored the taste of the new year. She wondered how her parents were doing at home, it was odd that they didn't attend the ball. She would worry about moving into a country maison tomorrow morning, depending if her parents had heard the news. Lanna put the glass down on the table and took a seat. She looked around and to her surprise, she saw her parents indeed. They had snuck by her this whole time, watching her! She wasn't mad though, just caught by surprise, really. They didn't seem to notice that Cecielanna had found them in the crowd, but she rather it be that way. She was doing things right, wasn't she? Staying out of trouble.

Some of the greater things in life Are unseen Thats why you close your eyes When you kiss, cry, or dream...
She had heard her name and turned to answer Todd before she noticed that he had left quickly after the announcements. She had wondered what the boy had wanted and felt bad she wasn't quick yo answer. Many family and friends had come over to wish her the best and congratulations on the engagement which she was only able to answer with thank you's in a light enthusiastic manner. Her mother had come over to wish her a happy new year and then her father soon after as well. "I'm going to miss you and your sister when you are gone this week" he said with a smile and Estella only laughed. "We will be fine....You should go wish her a Happy New Year wherever she is at. I've been looking for her" Estella said as she turned to look from one side to the other as her father chuckled. "I saw her sitting next to Damian when I was standing up on stage. You should probably go say hello as well. We will go greet her right after we finish greeting others...." Mr. Edwards said as Estella nodded heading over in the direction her father had pointed.
When she saw Damian and Catri her eyes lit up. She quickly began walking over. She did hesitate at first thinking if it was rude that she didn't go to speak with her fiance at first but she shook her head as she walked to the table. "Happy New Year Catri, Damian" she said bending down to give Damian a hug and then her sister. She stayed hugging her sister for a while before letting her go and looking between both sister and cousin. "How are you all doing?" She said before noticing a boy standing there as well. He looked a bit off in this area and she didn't realize this was Todd actually. "Hello" she said.

We were given: Two hands to hold. Two legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.

Maybe it was because she spent most of the party alone? Well it was her damn fault for not talking to anybody. She wasn't shy, yet she was, Lanna understood her better than any of her brothers.. "Lanna you'll come with us right? Please" she looked up at her and smiled, she loved Lanna, she was a very good friend.
She looked over at Laurence, "Happy Near Year, Laurence, Happy New Year Lanna" she said softly but she still smiled, "Thanks for a... interesting time" she looked at Laurence and nodded her head slowly and smiled, "what were you two talking about all of this time?" she noticed that these two were talking a lot during the Ball, it was kind of interesting. Jaime looked up at Laurence, "Oh do you have a nickname at all" she suddenly turned happy, "I shouldn't go around calling you Laurence all the time" she wasn't making fun of his name, it was just a big name. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude, I was just wondering" she smiled apologetically, she still had the flower in her hair too. But she didn't care, she liked it. First he needed to check she was OK with the arrangements now that they were public knowledge and also the new manor house idea of the fathers. Secondly he needed her to stop him from falling to pieces. Inside there was turmoil but on the surface he looked as calm as he had done all night. Rupert, King of the poker face, but he wasn't sure how much longer he could hold it. Etoile was always good at taking his mind off of things. She must be in the room some where but he could not find her. Beginning to feel alone in a room full of merry people Rupert sat himself at an empty table in the corner of the room. Leaning his elbows on the tabletop he lowered his face into his hands. He would try to look for her again once the crowd had settled down. He rubbed his face once and then twice before sitting upright in the chair again, gazing out into at the throng before him. ~~Rupert Claymore~~

She felt the familiar touch of Jaime's at her shoulders and then turned her head slightly to the side just so that she can confirm her guess. A warm smile Cecielanna gave the girl before turning around in whole, slightly slipping out of Jaime's hold as a result. Her hand rose and she played with the flower that was in her friend's hair. "Happy New Year, Jaime," her cool tone of a voice replied. She was still playing with the flower, as if to fix it a bit. "If it makes you feel better, I believe my mother will force me to accompany you. Either way, I will be there for you and your brothers." Her hand left the flower alone at last with satisfaction on the smile of her very lips. She turned to look at Laurence and said, "Laurence and I was just speaking about...many things all at once, honestly." She'd thought it would be better to put it that way, for they did talk of slightly many things. A nickname, Jaime had asked him, but this also made Cecielanna raise a brow in interest towards the man.

Her eyes were somehow notably stunning at the moment, and Laurence had to say that somewhere in his mind he lost something. Goodness knows what it was as he smiled gently with a softened expression in his olive green eyes and in return and took his own glass - still carrying the spat cigarette butt - inside the of yellow champagne and he raised it in her direction as well. "..Thank you." He murmured calmly, thinking twice before setting his drink back on the table.
Lenny noticed Jaime coming from the crowd and throwing her arms around Cecielanna to talk with her and wish her a happy new year. He lost some of his smile, and in his head, gained back that strange feeling he lost...
Right... The feeling of restraint.
He nodded in her direction, offering a calm smile, but nothing like the one he was just showing for Jaime's friend there. "Happy new years to you as well." He said, watching the girls. When Jaime asked what they were discussing, The photographer wasn't sure what to say, but thankfully he was quiet long enough for Lanna to answer for him. It was a very kind thing of her to do, and it was easier if she told Jaime anyways.
Laurence had the feeling the blonde girl didn't like him, let alone trust his word. One night wasn't usually enough for most girls to figure out he wasn't like regular men.
He blinked at Jaime's next question, and looked at Lanna who appeared to be interested in his answer as well. He felt a bit of warm rise to his cheeks and he looked off to the side calmly, feeling a bit embarrassed to give the nickname he had. It wasn't really his idea, but a lot of people seemed to call him that. "I..I guess you can call me Lenny. If you must." 'Lenny' sounded like a kids name. Much like if someone called Nicholas 'Nicky', or Emalline 'Emmy'.
It was a little strange, but he found often girls who he worked with or who knew the people he associated with around the city found his nickname was cute. Nothing cute about a man called Lenny. Sometimes he half preferred his normal name, but he didn't stop girls from using it, and he wouldn't ask Jaime or Lanna not to use it.

After all, she was dressed in an off-white dress, perfect match for any flower decor on her person. Her hand slightly rose towards the flower, cautious not to miss the flower if it were to fall off. It didn't. Her hand gently came to her side again. She heard Jaime's comment on Laurence's nickname, and then gave her own opinion, "Actually, I think Laurence is a perfect name for someone such as yourself. Calm and reserve, right? It sounds like something a famous poet would go by, or a scholar for that matter. Although Lenny sounds like a good name to pester you with also." A playful smile on her face now, "I hope you won't mind." She lowered her head as a future apology if she were to use his nickname for pestering. Hearing Jaime speak again, the girl smiled and replied, "I haven't been outside to see the night, but I will take your word for it." She enjoyed calling her by Jaime, it was more suitable in her opinion. Cecielanna gave a curtsy to Laurence and said, "I will leave you two to chat, maybe I might just go take a look outside after all."
