Well Mycoloth hardly stays on the board long enough to be worth it. I suggest using the Mycoid Shepard less of a threat to most people and then BOOM! You are gaining life like the nuts.

i do have one of those but i took him out i need a way to get tokens out so mycolth or some more mercy killing's but i just need 7 to 10 tokens to win. my plan is to devour some stuff to get a power 20 or higher and hold out for a turn or two so that i win with mayael's ariea

Is this a type 2 deck?
PostPosted: Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:50 am

Back, with an edit to my Devour deck.
Still think it could use a bit of work, but should flow a bit better.

Devour

Creatures
4x Llanowar Elves
2x Bloodghast
2x Thunder-Thrash Elder
2x Scarland Thrinax
3x Sprouting Thrinax
1x Deathbringer Thoctar
3x Mycoloth

Artifacts
3x Blade of the Bloodchief
2x Coat of Arms

Spells
4x Vines of Vastwood
4x Harrow
3x Rampant Growth
3x Grim Discovery

Land
4x Terramorphic Expanse
4x Savage Lands
2x Akoum Refuge
1x Oran-Rief, the Vastwood
2x Mountain
3x Swamp
8x Forest

I'm thinking I should run a few burn/removal, in the form of Lightning Bolt and/or Terminate..
Could possibly throw in a Soul's Fire as a one-of.

For a little bit, I considered Garruk, but I decided he didn't really fit in the deck at all, so he was cut.

Comments?

Oh no, Gaia's posting system is glitchy again.
This post should be down after:

A Type 2 deck is a deck that is only made of the card in the standard format right now.

Those sets are:
Zendikar
M10
Alara Reborn
Conflux
Shards of Alara

Hello, sorry for being gone, I was doing other things haha. ANyways

@A_NicXIII I did put your deck together, but I only played with is two games. I got very bored with it haha... I did try to put garruk in there, however the Exalted thing didn't work with Garruks Overrun abbilitie as much as I wanted it to. Exalted and overrun do not mix. Mayhaps you should try putting a creature that just has trample. I dont remember seeing any of those in the deck. Correct me if I am wrong. it has been quite awhile since I played with your deck list

Casual deck.

Ritual and Sacrifice (BG)

Lands (24):
1x Shizo, Death's Storehouse
2x Svogthos, the Restless Tomb
4x Savage Lands
4x Golgari Rot Farm
6x Swamp
7x Forest

Creatures (20):
3x Golgari Guildmage
2x Golgari Thug
3x Stinkweed Imp
4x Shambling Shell
3x Savra, Queen of the Golgari
3x Marrow Chomper
2x Doomgape

Other Spells (16):
4x Rite of Consumption
4x Life // Death
4x Putrefy
4x Golgari Germination

Side Deck (15):
4x Necrogenesis
3x Stalker Hag
4x Bitter Ordeal
4x Plague Boiler

Kay, this deck is slow-o-o. BUt fun as heck to play against another slow deck.

So we have Germination to make tokens, or/and Nercogenesis if you can get Savra going well. This makes fun for Marrow CHomper. Devour requires sacrifice, and savra loves sacrifice. So, big guy eats tokens, savra triggers a bunch, you you still wind up with a nice life boost.

With the tokens, you can also use plague boiler and bitter ordeal to dismantle someone's deck. That is fun, too, but requires you to reset the board... OR you have Svogthos, activate, attack and then rite it during the next main for fun.

Shambling is the revolving door for savra, and doomgape loves eating stuff, plus if great rite fodder. The guildmage helps things move along.

Life and Death is fun. Recursion or more creatures to abuse.

Putrefy is straight forward, so is Stalker Hag.

Thoughts?

@Boros Veteran

Well I see where the deck goes, and I do think it is lacking a lot for a Casual Deck.

LOOK AT OTHER SETS NOT JUST RAVNICA! a lot of your cards are from that set.

First starting with the side board. One the side board is used to find answers for decks that the original deck is not prepared for. I can not stress this enough with many players. Your side deck only creates new win conditions Plague Boiler consumes your mana. it honstly is not that great to put in a sideboard. Seeing as it hits nonland permans then it halts you from advancing early, until you get more lands. Also 4x is a bit too much

Bitter Ordeal seems alright, but your mana curve is far too high. Seeing as your deck is already slow, trying to ABBUSE its gravestorm abbil will be rare. You would be better off with Sadistic Sacrament. which its auto 3 instead of 1. its good for early because it only cost 3, and late because you can do its 10 times if kicked. It also Costs the same as Bitter Ordeal. For bitter ordeal to be better you need to kill more perms so you'd have to switch out 8 cards from main deck, utilizing boiler and ordeal

Stalker hag... UHm I guess thats your answer for black and green decks, its an alright choice.

NEcro, same thing, it consumes your mana, in an already slow deck. You wouldn't plan on using it early in the game because you have to have a creature in a grave for it to work.

Point in sideboard talk is to Show people that Sideboards are not used for alternate win conditions for used to serve as answers for Decks that the original deck can not handle (Sorry borros, Didnt mean to hammer you i've just seen this a whole lot in peoples decks, and I was meaning to post about the topic. You were just in the wrong place at the right time)

Now time for the Main deck

Your low costing mana curve only serves 3 at lowest I believe, It is NICE to have a one drop. think of it this way, your deck starts to work average at turn 5, that means they can say... 1 drop a 1/1, turn two 2x giant growth 7 dmg(or another 1drop and 1 giant growth for 4 dmg), ect. ect.

Another thing with decks is that if your lowest costing card is #, then your deck will average begin to work at turn #+2 (I do know that there ARE some exceptions!!!!!)

Doomgape I love, its a good card. Its abil is good to heal yourself but with your given deck list It lacks because of mana cost

Marrow chomper, Its alright, but your creatures are a bit slow to get out so devoer is a slow thing for it

The whole dredge abbilities are BAD! It creates problems in the players minds. Not the opponent. So ill attach a segmint of an artical.

"Let's say a player plays a game and never draws his awesome Dragon. Is he upset? Not majorly so. Players get that they are not going to see every card every game. Sometimes your most powerful card is just on the bottom of your deck. Let's take the same player and have him get milled. Among the cards that get put into his graveyard is his Dragon. What we've discovered is that this is rather upsetting for most players. Seeing their best card go to their graveyard is a big morale blow.

But why? What's the difference between the card getting milled and it just being the bottom card of the deck? Logically, very little. Psychologically, a lot. The card sitting in your deck is potentially your next draw. Sure, you might never draw it, but you don't know that. The lack of knowledge about where it is gives a player hope. A similar phenomenon can be seen with lottery tickets. A man buys a lottery ticket for a fifty million dollar payout. The ticket is exciting until the moment he learns that it's not a winner. Until the drawing, the ticket is potentially fifty million dollars. That's exciting even if the math says the chance of getting that money is infinitesimally small.

The result of this lesson is twofold. First, we are very hesitant to make players mill themselves. Second, we have to be aware that milling has a stronger psychological impact than logic would assume. Players are much more likely to be feel milling effects are stronger than they actually are. Also, because of this reaction, we have made a conscious decision to limit how much milling we'll do in any one set. Sometimes getting milled out is okay, but having it happen all the time would be problematic."

Alright well anyways I'm looking at this deck with decks that I would normally use in casual. THinking with that mindset most casual decks I know have a turn 5 win Or at least have most of the board.

Normally I would put together peoples decks and play test them the upcomming fridays and give them better feedback, But this deck, really isn't going to cut it. Look at some of the newer sets cause there are cards that kinda do the same thing but work better. such as your deathtouch card there are better ones that are cheaper.

I suggest Scrapping this deck and start over...

Sorry For the Bashing, I honestly don't try to hurt people feelings of poeple who ask for suggestions. I just see that What I've posted is a bit harsher than normal. But I just see so many flaws

your milling theory is lost on my green black deck....it works best when it's best cards are in the graveyard so NYA!

@fubar

Nothing Is an Absolute. I do know there are decks that "play from the grave"

I'm looking at his deck where he does not use it significantly.

It is not a theory. It is a common understanding between magic players. "If you have a deck not playing from the grave, Milling yourself creates problems." Remember I am using the artical for his deck not yours.

Also, If you wanted to "play from the grave" are are better milling yourself cards over dredge.

If you are so confident in your Deck, Please by all means post it and I will have a look at it. let me know if it is casual or type 2

i'll post it but you're not going to think much of it. it works like crap when other people try to play it but with my playstyle it's quite the opposite. give me a while to go get it and sort it all out for easy documentation.

Haha?

Alright, I put the decks I see together to play test and see what lacks and what are the strengths. You saying that you're going to post it and then saying "They're MY decks you don't get to use them"

Really now? seeing as this is the Deck CONCEPT and SHARING Thread.

Someone seems to be a bit full of themselves

If you don't Want someone to see your deck, you Might as well not bring up how "great" your decks are. I'm just saying.
