-refused to do an assignment because the book was sooooooooooo bad

::you whine to your family&friends about the block
::and your fellow writing-crazed guildies
::you complain to your teachers about writer's block
::you talk about your character like they're your lover
::you complain about you character's relationship with your other character

...you have your story completely memorized, even the parts you haven't yet written.

The smallest of things, like a strange picture, a single ugly daisy in the middle of a patch of dirt, a word, can inspire a whole new idea that will be merged into your other works.

You know you right too much when

A) You've spent 8 years on the same story.

B) you've got blue or black ink along the pinky-finger edge of your hand and/or up your arm.

C) You've got a callous on your middle finger from where your pen rubs

D) You got a D on an energy efficient house drawing when you were 13 because you get into your own writing too much.

E) You have to buy new pens each month.

F) You have a roleplay forum dedicated to your storyline.

G) People try to steal your work.

H) You've filled the equivalent of 40 trees worth of 128 page A4 exercise books.

I) You're immune to paper cuts.

You read through all of these *hint, new members, you really should read through it all, because parts of it are hilarious, and it's worth it* and laugh so hard you fall off your chair. (because you've done so many of them.)

Well, here's one I discovered the other day.

You know you're a writing addict when you can write with your LEFT hand and play with your kitten with your right - and I'm right handed.

Yuki thought of one while...doing the dishes? o_0

...When you decide to really get into your characters mind by practically starving yourself for weeks because your character is in a situation where they are unable to obtain food.

On a side note, Yuki-chan would most likely not do that. It just came to mind for some bizarre reason.

*laughs* 'kay, here's one.

...when you get twentyfive millimeters of water in just under fifteen minutes, your shed is flash flooding, it's still pouring, you're saturated, hundreds of dollars worth of hay (being kept in the shed) is becomeing more ruined the longer you put off trying to clear the water, your siblings and your father are running around yelling over the rain to a, pass the broom, so they can sweep the water out, b, pass the hoe, so they can dig out the gutter 'cause it's so full of junk, c, get your little brother back up to the house before he gets a cold, and d, check on all the live stock to make sure everything's all right and nothings run through a fence yet, and you still manage to get back up to the house to make sure you didn't leave your window open, 'cause you were sitting in front of it writing before the storm hit.

this actually happened to me.

-reads everyone's- I think I'm seeing some signs of serious addicts here. xD

-When you write a list of all the dynamic characters in your novel and come up with 20.
-When your English class has everyone read eight other essays and someone reads your essay, gives it the highest score possible (a score that is almost never given) and writes that they see no way you could possibly improve on the essay's current state, but "Is umpteenth even a word?" xD

well here's my contributions..... and there are many.... and I think that most of these have already been said... but that's ok.
~you have gone through your book after writing for a long time and realized that your characters took over somewhere in the middle to make their own story
~you have a character you never meant to be important who pushes his or her way to being needed
~you yell at your characters in said reread
~you can see your characters playing out the whole book in your head as you start to reread it
~you always use the same kind of writing utensil for writing (mechanical pencil with a blue clippy thingie)
~you are angered when a sibling or other relative uses said utensil for other uses (ie grocery list, homework, food)
~you specify what you're writing based on which clippy thing is on your mechanical pencil(blue for writing novels, red for homework and songs and white for poems)
~you are completely confounded when people don't understand when you talk about events in your story as though they actually happened(because of course they did happen to your characters and you)
~you go without sleep because you were in the middle of a writing spree and you couldn't stop at all.
~you forget to eat until your stomach starts to hurt because you didn't think about eating since you were writing
~you bring food with you to whatever room you're going to write in and then quickly forget about said food
~you get to the point that you may want to kill off a character because they are so horrible, but can't because you know it isn't their time to die so they wouldn't allow themselves to be written out
~people think you're insane... and you don't mind because they don't write anyway
~you wish you could call off work so that you had more time to write
~you call off work because you're in the middle of a writing spree and can't stop
~monster, fullthrottle and rockstar are your best friends because they help your characters have energy so they are happy
~you litterally cringe at incorrect grammar
~you hate when people purposely use incorrect grammar to mess with you
~people you don't know know that you hate bad grammar and find it needed to use grammar incorrectly around you
~you hate when people move your things because hidden in what they think is junk is what you are sure is your next greatest masterpiece
~you laugh in the middle of nowhere just because you thought of something one of your characters would say in the situation
~you realize that your static characters aren't very static and that your background characters want to be just as big as your main characters
~you have conversations with your characters about what the name of their novel should be
~you ask a random person what they think of a name because you want to see if its real enough for either a character or a pseudonym
~you've put long thought into whether or not you need a pseudonym
~you've discussed the idea with your characters who said that they didn't care as long as they still got to be who they were
~as a result you still haven't decided
~you are add enough that your characters are more focused on the story than you are, and you don't mind that
~a lamp gave you inspiration for part of one of your four stories currently writing piece by piece
~your characters tend to come up with their own names
~characters easily come to mind to describe any stereotype, situation or general discription
~all of your characters have all of your friends in them in different doses, several have all your fears and doubts, and several others are people you wish you could be
~you've used historical mysteries such as Jamestown for inspiration to get you through history class
~you mourn not having a computer constantly available to your use to get stories out of your head
~you write a story out longhand and realize that you completely control what goes on, only to realize later as you're typing it that your characters take over on the computer while you're typing mostly from memory and not looking at your notebook but once or twice
~your characters have long detailed backgrounds that almost never get fully described in your story, much to your regret
~you've scared people by being in the middle of a sentence and having to dig through your bag for your pencil and a notebook to write down the burst of inspiration you just got while never getting back to the sentence
~people are used to your random exclamations of one word followed by laughter
PostPosted: Sat Feb 02, 2008 11:17 am

--when you have too many notebooks for your shelving space, so you stack them around your room
--when you spellcheck everything and anything
--when your friends know never to give you free writing time or you'll never stop
--when your hand turns the color of lead or ink your writing with.
--if you try glueing your pencil to your hand (lol)

When your parent walks in on you cussing out a dog that's non - existant, while you're trying to do dishes, because your trying to see what your character would do and you end up slipping on the water puddle you've created as you left the water on and its running down the back of your arm as you act.

is that when you run out of paper to write on you write on you room walls.

That you write over a million of pages of your one story.

-When you were in grade school and the teacher asked the the class to write a story using all the spelling words, so you made her stay ten minutes past the bell so you could finish said story to your satisfaction.
(I really did that.)

-When you get really upset because an r.p. you're in dies, and now you'll never know if the story is going to end the way you thought it should. (I almost finished it by myself, have I got it bad or what?)
