Nanako finished tying her hair back in one long cable braid as she emerged from her tent. She felt somehow rejuvinated by the change in clothing, and proper maintanance of her hair.

Smoothing out the wrinkles in her skirts, she straightened her bodice, loving the feeling of the soft cotton undergarment on her skin. It was simple, but suited her figure, and the dazzling blue brought out her eyes as well.

Walking about the campsite, she made a note to look in on everyone. Stopping at Darz's tent, she noticed neither he nor Gwynne were there. Well, I haven't heard screaming. Perhaps she's behaving herself.

Continuing on, she noticed Gwynne over by her tent. From her expression, she could clearly see that Gwynne was frustrated... and angry. Wincing at the thought of her other encounters with Gwynne when in such a state, she nonetheless took a deep breath and went over to her friend.

Smiling, she braced herself for whatever possible onslaught would come, fully intending to fight fire with fire if need be. "Good morning Gwynne. I hope today finds you better then yesterday... at least in some way."

Nikoru stil felt uncomfortable, even after Jazral spoke with her. Something just wasn't right, and she meant to ferret it out. In the meantime, the sound of Selene getting irritated was enough to rouse her from her wandering mind, and she walked closer to her Sister and Darz. Hearing the tail-end of the conversation, Nikoru quirked a brow and crossed her arms over her chest, giving Selene a no-nonsense look.

"Really, Sister. You should learn to control your temper, just as I should. Whatever the Wilder said shouldn't bother you. She -is- young, after all. Youth breeds inpatience."

Glancing at Darz, she sighed.

"Always, you seem to be at the center of whatever causes Gwynne's ire. Whatever it is, it really brings out the protectiveness in her."

Casting a glance to the distance, she frowned. The wolves were closer. Very close. Whispering softly, as she knew she would be unable to convince them anyway, she pleaded with them.

"Please stay away, brothers and sisters. Death is this way."

She continued to stare intently in that direction, as if the sheer force of her will could overcome the pack's will. A few agonizing minutes later, the soft, nearly indiscernable sound of a wolf's howl in the distance could be heard. It seemed to give her physical pain. Blinking once, she tore her eyes away, refusing to acknowledge they were nearing.

Nikoru's words did nothing to improve her anger, in fact, it made it worse. Standing up she kept a calm face, looking at Nikoru then went back to her tent to change her clothes. Everything about her screamed anger, whether she wanted it to or not.

No matter how chivalrous, there is only an extent to which a man can resist looking over the figure of a woman dressed such as either Selene or Gwynne. Darz makes no obvious glarings at either, but he sure as the sun rises has given both a once over. Being as he is, however, he also makes no remarks of his disatisfaction in how they dress. It is not becoming of an Aes Sedai. He listens, carefully, to Selene's words. His answer, in the back of his mind from observations, is that Gwynne would be a Brown before she even says anything of it. However, the ensuing arguement brings Darz to utter silence. Were the politics so disagreable that allies were brought so near fisticuffs? They are, indeed, different, but the worst Darz had heard was a strong misunderstanding the Red have for saidin. They abuse saidar and their name, but, the truth is, he knows little more than Selene told him.

To Darz, Gwynne is throwing but a tantrum. She has a right to be mad with him as she believes he has broken his word. How was he to know? Such innocent questions, however, have driven a wedge in any hopes of having this one ally, possibly a friend in this Age so long from his. Once more, Darz's weave is shattered by a break in concentration. This instance is only enhanced by the anger and resentment in Gwynne's words and actions. He is about to speak when Nikoru chimes in. The use of the word "child" does surprise him a bit. Longevity in the Age of Legends would have given him cause and reason to believe Gwynne is older than she appears, but, now, any estimation he may have had has been shattered. Heaving a sigh of regret and looking down, Darz does his best to answer...not even realizing Selene has left.

I'm afraid she is Brown, in more ways than not. I...made a promise to her, and she believes I have broken my word or am on the verge of doing so. *chuckle* She trusts you only as much as she trusts her friend, Nanako.

Darz's words are cryptic in nature. He believes Gwynne to be Brown by her pursuit of knowledge and desire to horde it. What surprises him is something Selene said. Even by this point, he hasn't noticed her absence. When he looks up, his eyes are closed in careful thought. Did she say she couldn't lie? When he opens his eyes, finally, he takes note that she is gone.

Hmm? It seems we all have anger we must get off our chests. Sometimes, even the seemingly most mature must throw a tantrum...

Darz sighs as he smiles towards Nikoru. As non-chalantly as ever, he reverses a weave of an Illusion of a morning rose in greeting of this maiden. He is polite and chivalrous to a fault. With a tilt of his head, he gives Nikoru a proper Aes Sedai greeting in the Old Tongue.

Nanako's voice made Gwynne literally jump with surprise. She had not seen her friend approach, so deep in frustration with her failure had she been. Taking a moment to catch her breath and let the adrenaline rush subside, she answered in a low, angry voice. "You hope in vain, Nanako. Find someone else to talk to; I don't care to insult you, but I surely will if you stay." For an instant, sadness and apology had colored her words, but it faded quickly. Turning her attention back inward, she began more repititions of the rosebud exercise, meeting nothing but continued failure.

Frowning after Selene, Nikoru shook her head as she snapped back to the here and now, ignoring the call of the wolves for the moment.

"The longer we fight the Dark One..the longer we wait for Tarmon Gaiden..the longer our frustrations build, and we begin to tear at one another's throats like a predator at it's prey. It's disturbing how we treat one another sometimes."

Scratching her neck absently, she looked at Darz. He seemed lost in his own thoughts for a while, and she respected that, simply standing there, watching him like a bird drying to figure out how to break the shell of a nut. When he speaks about mature ones throwing tantrums, she pondered Selene's reaction and let a slight grin tug at her lips.

"Well, Selene and myself are of the Battle Ajah. We frequently have short tempers."

The Illusion she saw made her grin again, and she realized she couldn't really truly mistrust this man, who seemed so lost amongst them. He was hiding something, that she could sense. But it didn't seem something that would harm them. When he spoke in the Old Tongue, her eyes grew sharp, intense.

"I will someday figure out why you speak in the Old Tongue so fluently. The Wheel has woven some strange happenings into our midst...and I will find out what they are."

The last was said with a slight narrowing of the eyes, the grin never leaving her face, although it became a bit more feral. She was feeling the need to hunt. She looked more predator than Aes Sedai for several moments before she regained control of her humanity once more.

Hold off the hunt, brothers and sisters. There is yet time. Go to safety, you foolish pack of woolheaded idiots!

All her thoughts were met with was confusion, and she sighed. Burn those wolves, but she hated not being able to use normal communication with them.

Turn back, bloody turn back! Away!

She sent a feeling of an alpha wolf nudging them back toward safety with her thoughts, and felt a slight hesitation on their part. The Shadow was this way, they needed to kill it. It killed one of their own. Strange She who did not understand this.

Darz

PostPosted: Wed Dec 08, 2004 8:30 pm

Darz's primary thoughts, now, are the nagging question over Gwynne's accuracy in saying he reveals too much and if he should just leave well enough alone and depart from further conversation. He decides that it would be best to get himself ready for the day. The only clothes he has are those on his back, those that the fair (refering to beauty) Tarma. Darz doesn't want to look like some bum off the street...which may be true no matter what, but, at the very least, he can look as if he's cleaned himself. He also has no idea that he remains hidden behind the illusionary guise of one much older than he actually is. He is only 73, young by his standards, but he looks much older than he should at 32. In truth, he only looks between eighteen and twenty. With a polite bow, Darz decides to prepare for the day.

~I might tell you, but it would break the word I've made with Gwynne.~ I'm sorry, Lady Nikoru. I am not at liberty to tell you that. Might I excuse myself to prepare for the day? I need to wash up and perform my morning excercises.

Sighing, Nanako knew she'd be met with such a reaction, yet it did not help to ease the pain of being spurned by one she hoped to get closer to. "Gwynne, you fight too hard. Sometimes, yeilding is the way to power, knowledge, and to what you seek. You can surrender without giving up."

She knew her words would only anger Gwynne, and so she turned to leave after speaking her mind. She didn't want to fight with her friend, or anyone for that matter. She had more then enough of such things in her life thus far to satiate any need for it.

Besides, Darz and Denathe still needed to be checked on. Better to go where she was wanted then loathed.

Inside her tent Selene kneeled down on the ground, crossed her arms in front of her and buried her head in her arms; as she laid there she stayed in a fetal position not daring to move. She was afraid to move, afraid to speak, she just wanted to scream and let all of her frustrations out. But she wouldn't, she'd win, she wasn't going to give in to it. In her mind she let her emotions swim, she just let everything go, in her mind a swirling blade of fire cut through all of the anger, just sliced it down and destroyed it.

Lifting her head up slowly her eyes were once again their normal color and seemingly drained of life. Sitting up she opened her bag and pulled out a pale green dress made of a clingy flowy material and a matching bodice that had flowers stitched on to it in the same color green. After getting dressed she tied back a small portion of her hair, letting a few loose curls hang around her face.

After slipping on her riding boots, which were hidden by skirt. Leaving the tent once more she stood outside it and straightened it a bit. After everything was in place she walked over to the dying fire, channeling a weave of fire she brought it back to life. As she stood there she just fed the fire using saidar, letting the warmth and beauty of the flames sooth her more.

As Selene stormed off towars her tent, Jazral made motion to follow, but stoped himself, insted sending a feeling of careing along the bond as she entered the tent

"Nikoru, The wolves will come regardless of your warnings. Espesialy with two wolfkin in the area. Its not often there are more then one of us in any area" Nikorus face and actions led him to think she was clearly still bothered by the fact wolves were on the way. "But I Think you're right...something does feel....off. Prehaps we should brake camp and head for..tear?" Jazral hesitated abit as he said tear. In all truth he would rather be here in the wilderness. It had always been more of a home to him then Tear. Jazral excused him selfand bowed as Selene came out of her tent a few minutes later

Comeing up behind her. He put his arm around her and held her. He simply asked "Are you ok?"

Selene jumped a bit; she had been so focused on the fire she had toned everyone out. Letting go of saidar she just nodded, the sounds of the wolves coming nearer had soothed her some even though she couldn't talk to them, she still belonged to a pack and that was enough for her. "I'm fine, my emotions, anger especially, have been difficult for me to control. Everything about Gwynne sets me off into a violent rage plus with Nikoru treating me like I was a Novice still does not help at all."

Emotions had always been foreign and difficult for Selene to control or understand; especially the base emotions like love, hate, jealousy, and anger. Channeling saidin some days seemed easier then trying to control her emotions. Resting her head back against Jazral's shoulder she just sighed, "I will win this battle..."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2004 12:32 pm

Jazral noded "We all have battles in which we must fight to win. Anger is deffinatly one of them. You know I know this as well as most. Try not to let Gwynnes childish words get to you. She's little more then a girl' Jazral looked around the camp and realised his younge protage' was still in his tent. "If you will excuse me Selene, I Think I should go check on Denath. I will return shortly."

Jazral headed to Denaths tend and crouched inside. He gently nudged Denath awake "Rise and shine young friend. I trust you're feeling rested?
Nodding. Jazral left Denath to get dressed and he returned to standing next to Selene, his long white hair flowing slightly in the morning Breeze
"It seems none of us suffered any ill will from yesterdays....attack, thankfully"

Selene nodded when he left, staring at the fire once more she waited until Jazral came back. "I'm glad no one but the darkfriend died. And as for Gwynne, she clearly has an inflated sense of self-importance; she believes that because of how powerful she is in the Power the White Tower would bend over backwards for her. She's wrong, with that much control the Tower will either figure some way into controlling her or still her to keep the world safe. I don't think that possibility has come to her mind at all... "

She looked up to the hill Gwynne was on, it was obvious she was trying to channel without permission once again. Shaking her head Selene looked away, they needed a firmer grip on her but Nikoru was unwilling to take it. If Selene had her way she would treat Gwynne just as an insolent Novice and punish her all the same. But, she'd just leave Gwynne to Nikoru; she was tired of dealing with her. "Light, I need a true battle to be happy some days, a battle of steal."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2004 1:15 pm

Jazral nodded. "She does seem alittle arrogent. she might end up stilling herself first even befor the tower could do such an act"
"Light, I need a true battle to be happy some days, a battle of steal."
Jazral eyed Selene "hmMmm prehaps I have an idea...." Jazral Pondered for a moment "I doubt we'll be leaveing here for at least a few hours...how would you feel about seeing what our friend denath can do with a sword?"

Selene looked at him curiously, then nodded, "I do enjoy watching a sword fight as well as participating in one so that should work. You might want to let him wake up more." Selene smiled then looked back to the fire once more.

((Blah, school calls my name. Be back in a few hours.))
