Etain smiled once again kind of feeling sorry for the girl who couldn't be that much younger then she was, Etain responded as she got out dishes and silver for them to eat.

Kala took the broom from Jessy and gave her a warm smile. I'll take care of it...I appreciate your help. Just remember it's the set with the green trim around the top. She gave Jessy a hug to let her know she wasn't totally serious and that she wasn't mad at all. Why don't you go home and study, and Fauve, why don't you come back around 8:30ish in the morning, and we'll give you the tour of the store and your duties, okay? After both girls agreed, Kala followed them downstairs and let them out the front door, relocking it behind them. She returned upstairs and finished last few dishes, and cleaned up the kitchen, the sat with her husband on his lap for awhile, enjoying his warmth. Finally, with a yawn, she kissed him goodnight, then walked to their room, where she dressed for bed in a long green nightgown, perfect for a summer night, and quietly lay herself in bed, but sleep refused to come. Finally, she got up and went to sit in the little window seat nearest where Zel slept, and looked up at the stars.

After a while Reselda woke up more out of habit then anything and seeing that the lights were out she nearly silently climbed out of bed and started towards the door.

Kala was startled out of her thoughts when she'd heard the rustle of the bedsheets, thinking it was Res just turning over again, but found her tiptoeing towards the door. Res? Hunny? Are you okay? Her voice was a bit tired sounding, but concern shown through.

Reselda jumped at Kala's voice and whirled to face her, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you up. I was trying to be quiet." she whispered.

Kala smiled in the shadows. You were quite quiet, I assure you, just I was already awake.

"Sorry to disturb you. I'll just get out of your way," Reselda returned as she started towards the door again.

You haven't disturbed me on bit. Why not come sit with me, or if you'd prefer, we could go out on the roof and get some fresh air. It's a beautiful night.

Reselda remained silent for a couple minutes before nodding, "Some fresh air sounds good. I don't really like being cooped up that long."

Kala led Res from the bedroom and to the kitchen where she opened up the door to the downstairs. To her left was a slightly thinner door that lead from the stair's landing to the roof, and she led the girl up these ones as well, and a few minutes later they emerged on the roof of the building. Kala sat against the building's edge and looked up at the stars, at least the ones visible in the city. She sensed the girl wouldn't want to talk much about herself, so she took a different tactic in hopes that Res would ask her questions about where she grew up...and perhaps see how things went from there. There are times I don't like living in the city too much, you can't see the stars very well, even on a clear night like this. These are times that I miss my home, and my family, the most. Wandering a forest, hearing the wildlife around you....so much I miss.

Reselda followed Kala silently and gave a small sigh of relief as she felt the familiar breeze and heard the sounds she had grown so used to in the past few years, "Don't know anything other then the city streets. Not really." she responded quietly as she found a place to lie down and look up at the stars.

One day, if you'd like, I'll take you to visit my tribe...I know my mother would love you, as would my sister and grandma. In all technicality, I'm the Priestess for my tribe, but my mother allowed me to leave when I felt that my gifts were needed elsewhere...oh Zel, I wish I could show you all the things I grew up with...the deer, the sound of the wind in the treese and grass...and all the stars. It's the stars I miss the most. Spotting a falling star, Kala hugged her knees to her chest and looked at Zel where she lay. Have you ever wished on a falling star?

Reselda studied the star for a minute only half listening to Kala, "People like me don't deserve wishes." she commented before the rest of what Kala had said sunk in, "Hold up. Gifts? What gifts?" she asked as she sat up looking at Kala.
