"You know what.Keep the damn things. But the board still belongs to me.It was thrown out when I found it.The blueprints are all I actually stole. If it weren't for the fact that i had nearly forgotten I had them they'd have been returned years ago." he thrust the blueprints into Vicegrips hands and made a simple statement."Could I at least ask if there would be any way of purchasing a new Lead Energy Coil from this outpost? That's all I wanted when I came here.I give you the blueprints I get an L.E.C and leave.I didn't want trouble and I really didn't expect a total a** to be the guy in charge. I was wrong about the guy in charge though. You are just very good at getting what you want it would seem and as for killing me I'm a half vampire so your bullets won't really do any good against me. Can we kindly get this over with without any more trouble?"

After a few hours, he slid off the sill and stared hard at the door. He couldn't sit around here forever..he had to get out there and learn about things. Maybe it could help him find out how he got there and where to go..After all..He wouldnt ander too far, just enough to gather some bearings before ventureing out any more.

Stalking closer to the door, a shaking hand reached out and grabbed at the handle. Swallowing the lump that gathered in his thoart, he twisted the knob before hearing the click of it open. Flinching lightly, he braved himself and gave a firm pull, opening the door and letting himself stare outside before forcing his stiff legs to move. Walking out, he let the door close behind him, lilac hues glancing around to see what would be around the area..His general area.

"Thank you," Vicegrip responded cooly, taking the files and placing them in his coat. "And with that done, your business with myself is over. I warn you to keep a better hold of your tongue and threats in the future, lest it get you into trouble. Simply being a vampire will not act as an impervious shield for you, and you should learn that before you mouth off as though you own the place."

He turned on his heel and strode away without mention of another L.E.C coil, his armed backup falling into flanking position behind him and leaving out the door they came in, which buzzed shut. The light above it clicked red, indicating the door was now locked.

"Lead energy coil, eh?" Crosshair murmured, coming over with his clipboard as Vicegrip dissapeared. "I see you met Vicegrip, our acquisitions officer. Charming, ain't he?" Crosshair was being sarcastic, that much was clear. Shaking his head, he flicked over a few pages on his clipboard.

"Anyway," He resumed his previous grin, then tapped his radio. "I got a call from Chessmaster. He just found out you were here, and since you're Mansion, I'm to get you what you need. Lead... energy coil. Let's see. I can probably scavenge that out of a prototype from the R&D lab."

He grinned. "You know, Centrifuge was mighty pissed when you ran off with those blueprints, but I imagine he's forgotten about it by now. I'll go talk to him. You two... eh. There's beers in that cooler over there, underneath the toolbench by the jeep with the artic paints. Help yourself."

Tapping his clipboard, the grinning man headed for yet another side door. "Stay out of trouble, now, or you might run into another Specialist who doesn't like people."

The area outside of the Mansion led to sloping, well-maintained lawns with a massive, ancient wood looming dead ahead. That was facing south, but going around the massive old building and looking north showed an end to the green grasses, giving way to a large, and high rocky cliff overlooking a sparkling blue ocean. The sun shone brightly in the midday, though the house never seemed to catch the light properly, as if it were trying to shield everything that lay within.

Puffy white clouds shone in the sky, and all was well and right with the world, it seemed. There were no people, nor vehicle paths here, as there were with the Base. Where the Base's grassy hills were marked by treads or constant movement of feet here and there, the Mansion looked as though not a soul had stepped across the grass in ages.

Lounging at the edge of the forest, just within eyesight along the tree line, two figures were visible, one sprawled out on a rock, the other sitting with his back to it. The wind carried pieces of their conversations over to Tenshi.

"...so now, I don't know who I'm going to wake up with every morning."

"Sounds like hell."

"Sounds like fun, more like. I mean, it's still the same person, they just look different."

"I'd get paranoid, personally."

"You're already paranoid."

The man sprawled on the rock looked in his early twenties and had a very ragtag look about him. He wore a grey t-shirt that was slightly torn and ragged at the waist, and while it might have born a logo once, it had long since faded into little patches of ink. He wore dirty sneakers and tight blue jeans with torn knees, and his tawny hair was tousled. He had matching stubble all over his face, and intense, shining golden brown eyes. When he yawned, pronounced canines were visible on both the top and bottom of his mouth, though the upper left one had been broken, and the upper right protruded slightly when he closed his lips.

The second man seemed a bit older, but not by much. Late twenties at best. He was skinny, with dark brown hair, big, dark eyes, a tint of five'o'clock shadow on his cheeks that didn't make them any rougher. His hair was tousled and about ear-length, and he looked as though he didn't sleep very well, but it didn't slow him down from his everyday routine of living a good life. He was similarly clad in worn out blue jeans, though his weren't quite as tight, and he wore a grey button up shirt with rolled up sleeves in the place of a faded t-shirt.

Neither seemed to notice him... yet.

"Thank you." Luster simply stood there watching as crosshair walked off to try and find him an L.E.C. He liked the sound of this Chessmaster. He didn't seem to be quite as uptight as the rest of these Bastards.Luster already knew for a fact that he didn't like Vicegrip, he was one of military badasses he didn't like.

It wasn't long before Crosshair returned with a cardboard box labelled repeatedly with "DO NOT DROP" in big red letters. It had been taped up, twice, with more of the red warnings written on it. Either the scientist in question was particularly... odd, or Crosshair was notorious for forgetting to not drop things.

"Here we are. One L.E.C. That's what he called it, at least. Don't drop it, now." He handed over the box gingerly, then that ever-returning grin came back and lit up his face. "And that's all? Or did you need two need something else?"

Of course the whole sight caught the boy dumbfounded. Flabergasted (( blasted spell-check...))- the youth seemed to let his wide eyes wander everywhere, trying to capture every detail. Mouth slightly hung open, quivering lilac hues didn't even notice how oddly the base was blocking all of the sunlight. As obivous as it would have been, he was still to awe-struck to notice the obivous settings.

He was more-so in awe about how beautiful and peaceful the area seemed. Walking off the steps and into some of the grass, he turned his side to the two chattering men, when the wind blew some of their chatter his way. As it tickled his ears, his head turned, unable to help curiousity, he watched them and listened. Catching only a little of the end of their conversation.

Seeming slightly puzzled, he tried to ignore it, afterall, it might have been one of those things that ' you had to be there' stories. Walking a little ahead, he kept pausing the stare around the area, noticing no paths were visable, he sort of frowned. No one else seemed to be out here but those two men. Why? He began to even wonder if they could see the house..Did they live here..?

His brows furrowed slightly in nervousness. Should he go talk to them..? Well, It couldn't hurt to ask a question..After all..He wanted to know -where- he was besides just a base. Bitting his lower lip, he turned and inhaled and then exhaled. Gathering up what social courage he had, he slowly approached the two men. Lifting a hand hesitantly into the air, he opened his mouth a few times to speak, but no words came out. Finally, he seemed determined and paused a few feet away from them and held one fisted hand to his chest. Trying to 'hold on' to his courage so it wouldn't slip away.

" E-Excuse me...."

His voice was more of a soft squeak then anything, he seemed very nervous, and couldn't bring himself to look at them, but instead at the ground at first.

"Actually, Could I borrow some tools to fix ths thing before we go?We'll be out of here as soon as possible after that though." he asked quietly as he took the box from Crosshair. He ran a finger over the tape on th box and it seemed to be cut as if he had a knife he was cutting it with. After the tape had been removed so he could open the box, he lifted his fnger to show that he had rather sharp finger nails, an inch long each.He kept them sharpened for good reason. He could remember fragments of his life before the mansion and knew he hadn't come from here but he tried to pretend he'd always lived on the island and that there had been others around when he was young.one of his fragmented memories was o him being picked on so he kept his nails sharpened to rather dangerous edges so he could defend himself if he ever had to.He took the L.E.C. from the box and set it on a table nearby as he set the board up and unscrewed the one screw he didn't need any tools for.He set the screw beside the L.E.C. and opened the small maintenance hatch on the bottom of the board and waited for a moment to see if he was goign to get an ok from Crosshair. As long as he didn't do anything more than this, if he had too, he could put the board back together and walk back to the mansion to fix it.

" E-Excuse me...."

His voice was more of a soft squeak then anything, he seemed very nervous, and couldn't bring himself to look at them, but instead at the ground at first.

"Yah!" proclaimed the man sitting on the ground, startled out of whatever thought he had been engaged in by the sudden voice. He pressed himself firmly against the rock, arms spread, eyes wide, and suddenly breathing a bit quicker. When his eyes refocused, however, he let his arms relax. "Dammit, I should have seen that coming."

"Can't win 'em all, Diego." The man in the t-shirt jibed, then hopped down off the rock. He wasn't tall, nor was he particularly short, standing at a simple 5' 9", but he carried himself like he were larger, a definite sign of confidence. "Hey kid. Never seen you before. What'cha need?"

After he spoke, the t-shirt clad man clicked his tongue against his one protruding canine out of force of habit.

Crosshair waved dismissively. "Help yourself. It's not like those tools have limited uses." He looked back to his clipboard, then up to the two men. "Is that all you guys are going to need? Because if so, I've got a date with some heavy artillery, and I don't mean someone well endowed."

He let his eyes travel longingly to "The Cannon", the massive tank on the far side of the room. Most of the mechanics gave it a wide berth, as though they wanted to avoid getting too close to it, as though it were sacred, or perhaps cursed. Granted, it could also be to avoid Crosshair's wrath.

At the jump, it made Tenshi jump. Steping back one, he seemed much more unsure then he was before. Calming down, a sweatdrop rolled down the back of his head nervously. Putting on his best smile, he tried to be friendly.

" I-Im very sorry...I was just wondering..Where is this place..um, exactly..? Whats it called..Are there any towns nearby..? What is this place for? Is it a home of some kind..?"

For one being so shy, he sure had alot of questions. He thought these men could carry the answers he seeked. If he could figure out exactly where he was, then maybe he could use that to take one small step towards finding out more about himself and where he came from. With his lost expression, he surely had hope that these men knew the answers.

The man in the t-shirt listened politely, then grinned, flashing his fang, and began to laugh. It was not a mocking sound, just a friendly one.

"New kid, eh?" He turned his eyes to the Mansion, then back to the boy. "Well, that's the Mansion over there, and this? This is called a field. Doesn't have a name. The Forest, also no name, is right behind us, and all of us live here. Me, Diego, various other folks... I'm a Base operative, myself, live in the forest. You'll find all kinds around here. The Tribe, Pack Leblanc, Pack Tiernan, Bloodlines Tilmarande and Lockhart... it really jumps around. For the most part, we all just make friends from the various factions within factions and live out our lives as we want to live them."

"Don't get me wrong, it's not paradise, but it's still great out here. And if you know where to look, never gets boring either."

The man dug through his pockets, fishing out a map of the area and looking at it.

"The building behind you is the Mansion. About half of the people around here orginated from there, but then some came out and found little places to stay. It's mostly the Base that expanded, though. Folks around there just wanted a change in scenery. As for a town... well, let's see."

He held up the map and pointed to the mountain range to the east, then looked up and pointed at the distant, snowy mountains.

"There's a road leading over those, then down to a little town where a few folks from the Base set up. Most of them speak Russian, and the only place worth visiting is the diner, but it's a nice place. Straight on past that is Augustine, a city that doesn't answer to a government. Big place, very nice for those looking for ah... modern advancements. Otherwise, there's the rural area out here. Forests, rivers, plains, anything you want. It's all out here."

All of the information seemed to make the youth more and more depressed. He never felt so completely alone..And confused/lost at the same time. As he went on and on, he couldnt help but gently tug on one of his eartails and turling his finger around in it in a nervous manner. Looking off into every direction he pointed, he got more and more discouraged.

A moment of silence, and the boy fell to his knees seeming upset.

"...I think its best I stay here..At this 'mansion'..I don't know where else to really go..."

And he was scared to get lost, he had no money for food or supplies to simply wander off exploreing.

" You see..I don't know how I got here..or where I came from...I'm still alittle shook up and ...well...I'm scared..I don't want to wander to far from this place...I have no money for anything and the people here seem to know more about whats going on then I do. I only know my name..but not where I'm from..Its like half of my life was erased from my memory..Or I just can't remeber...I'm sorry to just go on like this..This isn't your problem but..This is just all so overwhelming. I want to go exploreing, please..do not get me wrong..I just..I guess I'm a coward."

Heaving a sigh, he stared down at the grass, he knew he had to wander off the grounds to learn more..Didn't he? He just..was too scared. He at least wanted someone with him..Someone he could trust..But he had to learn more about this place and the people inside.

" I'm sorry..I didn't mean to crumble like this.."

It was just all to much for him to really bare.

When Tenshi fell, the man in the t-shirt seemed to freeze up, hands coming up and spine stiffening in a very "What'd I do?!" gesture.

However, Diego, the other man, got to his feet and came over, rubbing at his hands distractedly and chewing on his lip as he thought. Shrugging, he knelt next to the distressed boy and offered a smile.

"Hey, c'mon kid. If you start crying, someone might come along and think we did something to you. Then our heads'll get popped clean off." He made a popping gesture with his thumb and emulated the sound with his tongue against his teeth. "It can be overwhelming, we know."

"Yeah," the other man spoke up. "We were pretty disoriented when we got here too. You seem plenty rested, so I don't think exploring would be out of the question..."

"Speak for yourself, Lex," Diego looked over his shoulder at him. "I have to stay out here, remember? Some of us actually have a duty to do."

"Ah, guard duty. Hell with it." Moving over, Lex, as it seemed he was called, gently put his hands on Tenshi's shoulders and pulled him to his feet. "You want to explore, but you're afraid, eh? Well, there's nothing to be afraid of. Lex is here, and I'll keep an eye on you. Let's take a walk. We can talk, see if you can remember anything. And we'll leave Captain Paranoid here to sit out in the boring cold."

"Hey! I am not a captain. I'm very proud of being without rank or responsibility?"

Lex grimaced and made a face at Diego, then patted Tenshi's shoulder. "What sort of things you like, kid? We'll see what we can find. It'll be an adventure!"

Luster looked to Crosshair and spoke, jusr higher than a whisper."Thank you. And honestly, I wouldn't watching that date, with the person I mean." he just barely supressed a giggle as he took a step over to a large toolbox he'd noticed. He dug through the various tools inside until he finally got his hands on the right wrench, it was the only tool he'd need.He walked back over to the board and leaning in close, so he could see what he was doing, he started taking nuts and bolts loose and setting them on the tabe beside the board. After a bit he finally managed to get the L.E.C. taken out and sat a rather old and blackened springish looking thing on the table.Anyone but a practiced mechanic would just assume that was what it was, a springish looking thing. He pulled a new, silvery-gold colored L.E.C. from the box that Crosshair had handed him and went back to work. About ten minutes later the board was put back together and running perfectly."Come on Verloren, let's get out of here. I've been in here much longer than I've ever wanted to be around military guys."
