"It is something your brother suspected," Garrat began to explain. "He told me there might have been something slipped into the tea your sister gave you to drink. The fact that he and Richard were searching for rat poison in the kitchen and were unable to find it..." He trailed off, allowing Nathaniel to piece things together.

This was news Nathan almost didn't want to hear. The idea of his own family member trying to kill him made him sick to his stomach... Oh wait- "!" His eyes widened as his a hot liquid-y substance gushed from his mouth and into the bucket before him. Tears dropped from his eyes and his nose ran as the vomit poured into the bucket. The contents was just a liquid, no food since he hadnt eaten all day.

Garrat waited for Nathaniel to finish before cleaning him up a bit. He couldn't ask if the prince was feeling any better, since they had managed to expel the poison before it could take effect. The knight could only stay silent and wait for the prince to ask more questions. Understandably, Nathaniel was upset that his sister gave him poisoned tea. Garrat wasn't sure why Princess Manuerva would do such a thing, but he did recall Hamish said she tended to take her anger out on others.

Now Nathan remained quiet. His throat burned and the tears wouldn't stop. Now knowing that Manureva was the one who attempted to poison him, broke his heart. He loved everyone in his family and he thought that everyone lived him... Maybe not as much as he loved them, but the game had changed and now he felt as though he no longer could worry about his own health and now he must be careful what he ate? He quietly sobbed on the floor and shuddered, his tears fell on to his vomit stained shirt.

Garrat could only try to comfort Nathaniel as the prince cried. "We should perhaps return to your room," he suggested. He wondered if they should discuss the matter with the Queen soon. Or maybe he could talk to one of the other princes first, considering they (or at least Hamish) were the first to know about the odd tea. One question did remain, however: why did Princess Manuerva try to poison the tea?

Nathan nodded and still remained quiet as he weakly stood up. Already, his fever looked like it was dying down and his color returned to his pale skin. But despite feeling better, Nathaniel didn't cheer up.
On return to his room, he quickly changed clothes and cleaned his face from any remaining puke on his lips and any taste of it in his mouth. But afterwards, with his eyes red and puffy, he crossed his legs in bed and cuddled his little naked kitten close.
He couldn't even look at Garrat. The game of survival for the weakest human being in the castle had just changed... his own family tried to poison him, supposedly. At first, he wanted to be mad at Garrat for telling him something so ridiculous... but of course he couldn't be like that. Nathan's own feelings for Garrat were coming into play and he understood that Garrat was just doing his job. He couldn't blame someone who's tirelessly looked after the young man all his life. Yes, now Nathan was coming to love and admire Garrat, although he assumed the wrong things and thought; they fully loved each other and that Garrat shared the same thoughts, not knowing how hard the knight tried to keep his love a secret to others. The prince assumed that they were already a quiet, innocent couple.Of course he was wrong, as one shouldn't just assume things like that, but he was content with things just the way they were. Any kissing or other contact such as that would come later, when the time was right.
Nathaniel began thinking back through his memories and did indeed figure that Manureva had been acting strange lately. Then, a thought passed into his mind as he remembered a fateful night. "I snuck out one night while you were asleep and made my way into the kitchen. That night, I heard Manureva crying in the kitchen with Nana and mother..... something about her betrothal..." he muttered, turning to lay on his stomach, huddling the mewing kitten in his arms.

For a small while, Garrat wondered why it became so hard suddenly to return to the silence he had had for years. It became so natural to talk to Nathaniel that he became very talkative himself, as if to make up for the years of distance. Perhaps it was best to abandon the vow of silence, especially now that they were to train together. A silent trainer doesn't make any sense, after all.
The knight would have scolded Nathaniel for sneaking out so late if not for the crucial information regarding Manuerva. "Betrothal? Well, that seems to be quite a thing to get angry about. I'm not sure why that would lead to poisoned tea, though." Garrat never heard of a betrothal, but then again he never paid attention to news that he deemed none of his business.

"I didn't know too much about it... Joseph and Hamish were probably more aware of what Manureva would do because they were around her more recently.." he mumbled in his pillow.
Nathan looked at his kitten..." ... Garrat?... what happens if you get sick?" he asked quietly.

Garrat was a bit thankful for the subject change. "I usually walk it off, really," the knight answered. "If the illness isn't serious, of course. If it doesn't confine me to a bed, I usually just go about the day as usual."

Nathan's eyes widened as he heard Garrat's answer. "Why?!" he cried out, "You always have me rest up. Why wouldn't you?" he asked with a look of worry. Garrat always acted like this, like he didn't need any help and it worried him. Just because Garrat had to watch Nathan all the time, doesn't mean he could forget his own health.

How should he answer? In all honesty, Garrat usually walked off his illnesses because he knew they weren't a threat to him. He felt it wasn't the case for Nathaniel, who could drop dead at any moment if no one was watching. If Garrat was to tell him that, it would hurt his feelings. He remained silent on the matter, unable to think of another answer without the guilt he would feel when he lied.

Nathan took in his silence as a way of, he just didn't have an answer. So, Nathan calmed down and figured he'd might as well do his best to cheer himself up his own way. Changing subjects again, his stomach growled and he rubbed his eyes. "Well... nevermind.. too much has happened today and now I'm hungry..." he pouted as he flipped on to his back.

That was right. Neither of them had eaten all day. Speaking of eating, Garrat recalled that he left Reynard in the kitchen. Unless birds could open doors, the starling was still there. "I'll get you something to eat," he said as he left and made his way to the kitchen. Upon entering, Reynard rushed to him, apparently not having noticed he was gone and satisfied with the apples, and perched on his shoulder again. Garrat paid him little attention and took a couple of trays of shepherd's pies and onion soups to bring back to Nathaniel's room.

As Garrat left, Nathan waited a minute before slipping on a pair of boots and taking a very drastic way to escape those truly depressing thoughts in his mind. After cleaning up some things in his room, and placing the little kitten on a comfortable spot he lifted up the window and stepped out on to the long, narrow, stone ledge outside. He wasn't fully recovered, but he was certainly coherent enough not to look down.
The raven haired boy often had a tendency to do reckless things when he felt depressed. Surprisingly, however, those dark feelings were hardly present in the man's psyche so he didn't do crazy stunts like these all the time. He remembered a stunt similar to something like this when he was younger. About 8 years ago when his mother took away his drawing book and wanted him to study more about battle plans or ... something, he climbed outside the window when Garrat wasn't looking, and quickly regretted it and called for his knight to help him back inside. But now that he was older, Nathan had full confidence of what he wanted to do. So much so, that although he heard barkings and the shoutings of his fellow servants and guards pleading him to go back inside, he completely ignored them and jumped foolishly into a nearby pine tree ...
Upon Garrat's return, the only evidence of the prince was a small note on the table that simply read: 'Let's play a game of hide n' seek. You're it.'

Garrat returned only to find Nathaniel's room missing a prince and filled with panicked servants and guards crowding at the window. Setting the food trays aside, he inquired as to what was happening and found that Nathaniel had jumped out. Somehow, this was familiar. Well, it's time to search the garden. He sent Reynard out to look for Nathaniel from above while Garrat would scout the ground. Quickly, he hurried to the garden to the location where the window would be and began seeking the missing prince.
