The Raikage didn't bother to look up at the boy, allowing his hood to keep his eyes hidden, and instead opened a lower drawer to his desk and pulled out a large box. He set it on his desk and asked, "As a new gennin to this village, are you aware of the Akumetsu Mask which you must wear until you become a Jounin?"

Saito had no idea about such a thing, he's never heard of the concept before. "No I have not..." Saito stated simply in a low tone. Did he need to have one...why? He was never particularly fond of wearing masks. If he were to ever get into a fight with anyone, he would want his opponent to see his face, the face of his killer.

The Raikage cleared his throat as a sheet of paper lifted from his desk, zoomed over to Saito, and hovered in the air in front of him. "The Akumetsu Mask is a required mask all Cloud Shinobi must wear. When you're a ninja here, you should be immediately be recognized as a demon to opposing nations. The mask changes as you rank up, and eventually you won't need to wear a mask to prove your demonic nature in battle. It is your coming of age ritual in this village to obtain your mask. So," Hirose gestured to the box on his desk. "choose your identity."Fenrir Graveheart AKUMETSU MASKS Welcome. This, is your "Akumetsu" mask. It's new addition to the criteria I've just started. During the past Raikage's era, a lot of gennin simply abandoned the village. I won't have any of that s**t, so I made the "Akumetsu Mask." In each and every one of these masks there is enough gunpowder to easily make your head inexistent. There are three ways to set it off. One, you abandon the village without my consent. Two, you try to take it off yourself, and three you die. That way if you die in another nation you're more likely to take your killer out with you. It also works well for failed assassination attempts as it hides your identity, and thus what village you came from. There are no headbands, only masks. As for it's evil looking appearance, it's more than just for kicks. In most villages only the higher ranks earn masks, but the system works opposite here. The less human you look, the lower rank you are. In other words you, as a gennin, will have more of a demon's face than a humans. Then as a chuunin your mask will change to something a little more casual, and then at Jounin the mask comes off completely, and no more explosive head trauma.

Gennin: Usually cover up a vast portion of the face, if not all. Demonic and monstrous looking as possible, meant to inspire fear into those they cross, because like butterflies with wings that make fearsome faces, they do not have enough power to inspire fear by themselves.

Chuunin: Pale/decorated expessionless human looking masks. Meant to show the enemy that though they are human, there will be no mercy, fear, or any other emotions attached to hold them back from trying to kill their enemy to the utmost of their ability.

Jounin: Technically they can go without any mask, but most still prefer to wear a small mask that covers only a little of their face or just half of it. They do it as a joke to their opponent more than anything because it says "At this point you shouldn't fear the mask, but the killing machine beneath it."

Note: "Akumetsu" Literally translates as "Evil destruction" or the destruction of evil.

As Saito looked at the masks he sighed. He was no demon...he didn't like the fact of even looking like one. Aku Soku Zan...it was his creed...to oppose all evil and strike it down. His sword bore justice...he wouldn't swing it blindly. And these masks...well they didn't sit well with him. And it said here that it would blow up in his face if he left. Not very trusting of people is he? He may end up regretting what he was going to say but he had to do it. "I'm not comfortable with wearing this mask...at least not these particular masks. Though I enjoy the name of them...I am no demon...I do not represent neither evil nor injustice. That is not why I became a shinobi. Not only that...and I know we haven't known each other for too long...but you should trust me enough to know that not only will I get the job done, but I will not abandon my village as long as justice is on your side." Saito argued.

The Raikage rested his head on his hand. "Oh? Tell me then, just why did you want to become a shinobi?"

"I became a shinobi to strike down any evil and injustice that I see. Aku Soku Zan, Swift death to all evil. I did not become a shinobi for personal gain, to steal, to cheat, to become some common criminal or serial killer. I became a shinobi to create peace and order, and to punish those who are corrupt and wicked. Those who are like that shall taste the steel of my blade. That's why I became a shinobi...sir..." Saito added. The truth was that ANY other person he'd see as wicked would find themselves facing the point of his blade...even....the Raikage himself...though he hoped that the man has good intentions and was not corrupt like others.

A slight smirk grew on the Raikage's face. "Interesting. Tell me, did you know that the ones who originally created and wore the Akumetsu mask did so based on the answer to a simple question?"

How was he supposed to know that? He had never even heard of the masks before this time. So he simply shook his head not saying anything in particular.

Saito grinned as his chakra seeped into his deck of cards. The cards rose out of his pockets and twirled around him, encircling him as they emanated a black flame. "This world will always be filled with evil...that's why my job will never end, though my body may wither, my idea will never die. There will always be a corrupt and wicked soul out there, and I will take down as many as I can with this card..." Saito stated as the Ace of Spades landed face up on Hirose's table, it was his favorite card for he was the Ace and his blade was the Spade. "I will bring peace...but nothing is everlasting, and when that peace is shattered I shall fight again...it's a neverending cycle really...but those times of peace are well worth the struggle."

Saito grinned as he snapped his finger as he jumped backwards. The card, infused with his flaming chakra, exploded right in front of Hirose's face. Any normal shinobi would have remained headless...but if the rumors about the Raikage were true and he truly was the 'Toxic Ghost' then he would be unaffected, if not...well he didn't deserve the kage position anyways. "That's the only image I ever need...my power...and mine alone..." Saito stated to himself as he waited for the smoke to clear.

The cleared to show Hirose wasn't even moved by the explosion. He still retained his stature with his hand supporting his head. "What power?" He asked with a bored expression as wind began to pick up in the room.

"Only fools make excuses. Alright I'll make a bet with you since you're so sure of abilities. You will fight against a shinobi of my choosing here, and if you win then you won't be forced to wear the honorary Akumetsu mask."
