=P I'm young enough that people just assume that my voice hasn't changed yet. It's quite convenient, but I feel your pain.

As an 18 year old male I think I'd like my voice to be deep. Yesterday my ex said I looked 13 years old. neutral So I guess that means my voice matches my appearance.
I finally posted a question on the ftm LJ community asking if anyone lived in NS and particularly in my municipality. One guy e-mailed me back. He's a member of the trans guy support group I joined. I can't wait to go to my first meeting. I'm so excited. whee I didn't think I'd actually look forward to such a thing.

I went to work without binding today. I figured I don't pass at work anyways and I really can't keep up with the pain and trouble breathing. I must have surprised my fellow employee by suddenly having breasts. xp

That's harsh, although you were using ace bandages. They really aren't good for you. Will she not let you bind at all even if you find a better method of doing it? I remember showing my mother my binder a few days after I got it because I was so giddy. She didn't share my enthusiasm but she didn't say I couldn't bind. She thought it was really kind of the guy who sent it to me.

I can see how getting a deep voice might be difficult without an Adam's Apple. I myself am very adept at altering my voice, mostly to amuse myself. I'm not sure if this will help you, but try singing. Find a band you like and try matching your voice as closely to theirs as you can. Nothing will happen at first, but eventually you'll find it easier to modulate your voice.

Singing definately doesn't help me. I've always tried singing to my favourite bands and it always sounds so painfully feminine.

Stupid question Nios, but do you sing from your diaphragm or your throat?
I tend to sing from my throat because I never got the hang of singing properly from the diaphragm, occasionally I manage to do it right, and then my voice can get fairly low and masculine. Usually though it is feminine. Its a very pretty singing voice, and I love it in a detatched that-isn't-me sort of way, but yeah. I'm hoping to get some lessons to help me sing properly with hopes of it helping my voice overall...

That's not a stupid question XP I know you're supposed to sing from your diaphragm. I honestly don't know what I sing from. I'd have to sing to find out. I am sort of attatched to my singing voice but also in the that-isn't-me sort of way.

I think the hardest part is to think about speaking. I have a hard time putting grammatically correct sentances together, but then to add a lower pitch to that?
Asking for trouble.

Nios Singing definately doesn't help me. I've always tried singing to my favourite bands and it always sounds so painfully feminine. Fair enough. It's proven though that when we sing, we access a different part of our brain than the one we use to talk. A man who stutters when talking might be a fine singer. I thought perhaps it might help. Bear in mind; you can't just do it once and stop trying. It took me months of dedication before I could alter my voice to sound like Flogging Molly, and several more before I could manage a metal growl.

I've never attempted to growl but I really wish I could. But I don't even have the confidence to try.
