jennifer connelly (sp?) in the american rip off mad > of Dark Water.
I'm getting really annoyed with the fact that.. like.. I think last year they said 35 or so of the box office releases were in fact just remakes of something else. Still continues this year, if not worse. UGH. Just hire some starving writers for once. Consider it a charitable act!

It amuses me that the highest growsing film in the US for 2005 was March of the Penguins...a documentary. I think this says something about the kind of films being made.

indeed. people obviously dont want this kind of crap that's so cheap to produce. i think that also movie business is in general doing badly, the news had said.
i thought best movies that come out in the last couple of years for myself have been saw 1 and saw 2, but i'm a horror fanboy. anyway, the guy who write these movies is like 25 and a nobody and he starred in the first one. there are talented people out there, but no one cares to look.

Some of these movies are NOT cheap to produce. They put huge amounts of money into special effects...but not enough talent into plot.
And it's not even that the actors and directors aren't talented...it's that the studios limit what they will produce to time-honored crap that's grown stale.

A COP.
A SEXY CHICK.
AND SOME GOOD ACTOR PLAYING THE BADGUY.
IN A PLOT YOU'VE SEEN DONE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
ONE MAN. ONE SEX SCENE. TWELEVE THOUSAND EXPLOSIONS.
*insert title here*

its why i originally wanted to go into films... produce my own stories...they'd all be fantasy and sci fi stuff, but they are completely unique.
