Aeife nodded, putting her plate on the ground next to her. As she had before, she pulled her knees close to her chest and sat looking at the flames.

"It is..." her eyes looked upward at the skies, gazing at the stars. It was a cloudless evening, with a pale blue moon shining high above.

Aeife thought back to her days in Quon, trained by an older man (whom she had a crush on) to defend herself. She remembered how he worked behind her, teaching her how to draw the string of a bow taught without losing her grip. He worked with her for a while until her skills were acceptable, then he left her to work on her own and develop them as she would. She ended up giving up using it to use her staff, she just didn't have the knack for using one expertly. As she remembered, she struggled not to think about how that man and everyone else was dead.

"Yes..." she nodded, feeling a tenseness in the air. At that moment, a boney hand clawed up from beneath the earth next to her leg. She screamed sharply and lept to her feet, immediately working her way back against the boulder. A distant memory of what happened that night in Quon flashed before her eyes... Skeletons ripping at her neighbor's flesh.

Her eyes were wide and she was frozen with fear from the repression that lifted to the front of her mind.

((kel's my hawk)) *tosses her his longbow and quiver with 20 arrows in it with a laugh. finally, all his long hours studying against the undead will have payed off *strike for their torsoes and spine! they're useless if they're in pieces! *strikes with both swords at skeletons that face him, breaking bones and shattering their frames*

Aeife fumbled, grabbing for the arrows, spilling a few from the quiver. She was shaking... She was petrified, scared out of her mind even. She wasn't ready for this at the moment, it was only adding to her problems. Still, she somehow managed to notch an arrow to the string and draw it back, aiming for the nearest skeleton. Her grasp released and the arrow soared... But it missed her target and landed in a tree some distance away.

Again she notched an arrow, running her fingers along the fletchings as she drew it back to her ear, inching away from the reaching hand of a phantom. Somehow, something inside came stirring to the surface. A feeling of courage, or a lust for victory... Or maybe a sense of duty to help this man who had helped her. She released the arrow, the head flying into and out of the skull of a skeleton. It didn't slow it down, but it gave her some confidence at least.

*he smiles that fool was even stupider then he thought.............as the skeletons shatter into a pile of bones he sends more of his power into them they gleam with darklight........he then makes a fist with his left claw and the broken bones leap into the air and fuse together forming a gigantic fist in his owns likeness he then moves his claw in a downward smashing motion and the fist rises into the air and does the same smashing down at the girl*

Aeife pulled back another arrow, ready to fire when the stars above were blotted out by a mass of bones in the shape of a fist. At the last moment, she was able to roll away, soiling her cloak in the process. However, the force in which this group of human remains hit the ground sent some kind of quaking shockwave over the surrounding land, leaving her knocked senseless for a period as she stumbled.

YAAR!! *fights his way over to Aeife and pauses only to pick her up and hoist her on his back, then takes on running, bull rushing and running clean through skeletons with his large mass. makes it to the woods some distance away from where he saw the eyes and uses the ability his people were famed for. He dissappeared with Aeife without leaving a single trace anyone could use to follow him. He ran until dawn threatened to break, having reached his home, and safety. Heads into a large hollowed out tree that used to belong to a holy man that dedicated his life to fighting the Undead. nothing evil or unholy may enter or even approach this place for a kilometer in each direction. collapses on the floor, breathless, but alive, with Aeife, who is safe.*

Iesus tutela....

*lies there feeling like his lungs would burst*

Aeife, out of some surprise or shock, had held on tightly to Gordon's shoulders as he ran. The wind had been completely knocked out of her, so much that she was left breathless and panting as if she had been running along side this shard protector. She looked tiredly at him, leaning against the inside of the hollow tree trunk. He was exhausted... And somehow she felt as if it was all her fault.

She closed up her cloak and moved toward him, helping him to sit up by leaning him against her chest and over her legs. Her arms wrapped to his front, her hands cupping near his chin with water filling to her thumbs as if it were magic. She brought the butt of her palms toward his lips to feed the water to him. He said something in some strange language, but it was best not to ask, tired as he was.

*is thankful for the water and sips a little, but focuses mainly on trying to regulate his breathing and calm down. lies down on the floor and stays there taking many deep breaths until he's better. looks around at his home. Four bunk beds lay on one side, seven of them made, looking undisturbed. Two trunks lay at the foot of each bunkbed, only one of them has no dust on the lid. A table with eight chairs, one of them looking much more used than the rest. along the far wall is eight racks containing weapons and a pack, but one of the racks is empty. next to it is a small chapen with one small stained glass window, a small bowl of holyn water and a clay flask and a few holy symbols. and next to that is a desk with several maps rolled up next to a case, along with a bottle of ink, a pen and some unused parchment and a large bookshelf filled with old looking books.*

Aeife leaned back, allowing the water to sift through her fingers and dripple to the ground below. She glanced around briefly before looking at Gordon laying on the floor.

"Relax," she said softly shortly after he spoke, still huffing herself, "Just... Try to catch your breath... Don't worry about explaining things now..."

The water elementalist frowned lightly as she rested her head against the thick bark wall. Because of his actions, she was indebted to him, so she had a duty to see that he was well and without injury. It wasn't as if she was unwilling to help, she just felt as if she had caused this ranger nothing but trouble from the moment they first encountered one another.

Despite the recent incident, Aeife felt something of her old self come back. Something kind, sweet, and innocent was brought back to her demeanor, though now she wasn't as naive as she had been in the past.

I'm fine...just winded. *gets up. He left his pack and bow behind. takes off his sword belt and hangs it on the empty rack. reaches behind himself and undoes the straps to his boiled leather curiass and hangs it there too.*

at least we're safe from him...her...it. I don't think it was an aberration...must have been a necromancer. why would a necromancer come after you?
