I think I've listened to the main Nine Inch Nails albums enough to get a decent thought on them all.

Pretty Hate Machine isn't necessarily my favorite, but I still like it for being more industrial sounding than the other albums. My favorites off were:

That's What I Get

Sanctified

I realized Down In It was a popular song on that album, but I honestly couldn't get into it and the video was pretty much unnecessary.

Broken (ep?) was okay. Didn't stand out much, but had some of the most disturbing music videos. Pinion's video was just surprising as well as shocking. Happiness In Slavery=weirdest video I've seen yet. I haven't seen that many videos but that was wow. My favorite songs off of this were

and Suck

The Downward Spiral was easily one of my favorite albums of all time. The whole thing really was just great, even tracks that most people would just ignore like A Warm Place. The Eraser mp3 I got was shortened but that was probably my least favorite track anyways. (did listen to the full song later) After hearing all of these songs thus far, I realized Hurt wasn't really that great. It was okay, but eh. My favorites on this were well the whole album.

The Fragile is quite an album o_o However wasn't as great as TDS since it really seemed to be "hit or miss" with the songs overall. Some were just great, while others could've been done without. In comparison of the left disc to the right disc, I definently liked "left" more. Favorites

or at least those are the ones that stand out the most. The videos from this album were okay. ******** Inc.'s edit to Starsuckers was just stupid, and the video was eh. Even Deeper's video was great simply due to Hulk Trent. We're In This Together's didn't seem to fit the song. I probably would've done it differently, but thats just me. Into The Void's was different I guess sweatdrop

With Teeth being brand new and soon to have a sister album, was probably right under TDS for me. I listened to this album over and over until it grew onto me and I have to say its pretty good. A concept album of course, so it'll naturally encounter negative comments from fans. Overall, there was a pretty diverse sound which made every song stand out except maybe track 2 (You Know What You Are?) I'd say my favorites from this were

and RWIB version 2.

I'm pretty sure RWIB outdid Hurt, but I'm wondering if there are any plans for it such as videos or whatnot. It'll most likely be used to finish every With Teeth concert. THTF's video was pretty unnecessary, whether it was a concept thing or not. =/

It should be really. I can see something like Sunspots getting a music video at least.

Now that I look back at my NIN collection, I realized that it was their instrumental side that really brought me in. The first halo I picked up was Halo Sixteen, and I have to say I was let down at first. I think it was SW who sent TDS beforehand, and I really liked that but I quickly realized that I had just got a shitty remix album as my first one. I forget what else I bought, but 16 went back in its case and sat there for a good week until I was bored with the other albums. Listening again, I really loved The Great Collapse's opening and even the second ******** remix. I forgot that I really loved the version of The Frail on there, too. I still don't like Metal or the third remix of ********, but thats just me.

come to think of it, I think the first cover of "metal" trent worked with was from the Tapeworm project. eh time to go research that.

i bought TFA: Halo 16 on Vinyl, when i threw it on i wasnt very impressed with it just seemed kinda, disjointed all the time. never seemed to hold onto anything coherent. but, then, i bought the CD and listened to it in the car, and, like a light switch being flipped on, i was immediatly sent to a new universe of sound....i guess i just hard to hear it on really good speakers with the surround sound effect to finally appreciate the remixs.

i LOVE the mix of The Frail with all the sounds playing around the main melody. i imagine some kind of multi armed robotic DJ...and its trying to find the combination to tap into the channel playing The Frail, and it gets it at first, but then it notices that the signal is weakening, so it starts to fiddle around with all these switched and nobs and things to boost the signal, then, near the end, i heard something that sent chills down my spine, it sounds like a woman sighing, and i imagined this female scientist whose working on the Robotic DJ and shes sitting in a room with a two way mirror, watching her creation at work, like a trial run, but she can tell its not ready cuz its losing the signal, though following its programming and trying desperatly to clean the signal up a bit.

lol, i know you all think im totally insane now, i mean, how can someone get all of that from a song with violin and then random sounds strewn about. but, i tell you, this is WHY i love this song, and the album as a whole, it allowed my imagination to awaken from its apathetic sleep, it took over my "at-face-value" stand point and allowed me to step into a realm of a new kind of reality.

sad I hated the afi cover. Supposedly Korn covered Head Like A Hole too but I think Devo's is by far the best.

I'm listening to some NIN tribute cds. I'll end up ranting about them because they suck horribly, but I'm trying to keep in mind that they're tributes as in the song, but in that particular band's personal style.
