"Well, have you heard the rumors Manureva has been going off to the black market?" Richard reminded, "She's been giving both of us that tea and neither Joseph and I are drinking it. The other royal men that have been staying over, all left with strange colds... But I didn't think she'd give a cup to Nathan." Hamish interjected with a serious expression. "We're looking for that rat's poison that Nana uses to keep the rats away.. and ... we can't find it.. " Richard spoke sadly.

Garrat was out the door and rushing towards Nathaniel's room as soon as he heard the mention of rat poison. If the prince had been poisoned, the guard needed to take him to the healer immediately. Could the healer even help clear the rat poison?
Bursting through the door of Nathaniel's room, Garrat rushed to the bedside. "Nathaniel! We must get you to the healer now!"

Nathan had fallen asleep and jolted awake when Garrat came back into his room in a panic. It made him frown as his groggy state made it hard for him to understand what was going on. "Garrat? wha...? But its just a fever... I feel okay.." he muttered. Nathaniel was getting a bit scared. What was Garrat so worried about?

Garrat would rather not take any chances. "Let's just go to the healer, alright?" he said, a little more calm. He didn't plan to say anything about what Hamish told him until after Nathaniel gets checked. "I'm just worried about you and want to make sure you really are alright."

Nathan nodded and slowly got out of the bed, still a bit nervous at Garrat's sudden concern. ".. really I feel fine, Garrat... " he spoke shakily. As he got up and clung to Garrat. " What's wrong? You look like you've seen a phantom or something" he muttered, unclear of what got Garrat to return to him in such a frantic state.

Garrat said nothing and focused on hurrying to the healer's. They arrived rather quickly and Garrat rushed into the room. "The prince needs an examination!" the knight announced urgently. "I have reason to suspect he has ingested rat poison." He led Nathaniel to an empty bed and had him take a seat.

Garrat announced his concern and Nathaniel panicked himself. "What? Poison?! Since when?" He panicked. His heart was pounding so fast and his eyes welled up with tears! The healer panicked as well and held the young prince down.
Nathan hated the healer because when something no one could solve anything or didn't know what was wrong, the man would put Nathan through something called blood letting! In a panic, Nathan began to struggle and scream as he dashed for the door. "NO! No No! I won't let you! NO!" he cried as the healer had already grabbed a bowl and knife. "Garrat, please! I don't want this!" he scrambled for the the door until he collapsed to his knees.

Garrat had to drag Nathaniel back to the bed and hold him there. "I know you hate this, but he knows what he's doing," the knight tried to assure him, though he himself did wonder how blood letting would get rid of poison. From his understanding, poison spread throughout the body, so the only way to get rid of it all would be to get rid of all the blood. Isn't there a way to counteract the poison? "Do you have an antidote of any sort?" he asked the healer.

The healer explained to Garrat that the only known way to help victims whom have ingested poisons such as those were only blood-letting and a throwing up. Both options sounded gruesome for Nathan and he practically refused to take part in either. He screamed and struggled like a child getting his first s**t. Tears dripping down his face as he begged and pleaded Garrat to let him go when he felt the blade digging into his arm.

"He only drank the poison recently! Bloodletting is a little too soon!" Garrat protested as he stopped the healer from cutting any more of Nathaniel's arm. The only other option would have been to have Nathaniel throw up the tea, in that case. Garrat would have done the procedure himself, but he was worried that he might accidentally hurt him.

Nathan breathed heavy sighs of relief as Garrat stopped the healer from cutting any deeper. No blood was spilt as he recoiled in Garrat's arms. He buried his face in the man's chest as the healer walked off. He was thankful that Garrat didn't let him cut him open, but why were they here in the first place?
But now that that was settled, Nathan grew stubborn again and tightened his lips as he didn't really want to throw up either. The healer, a bit confused, gets up and hands the soldier a small berry from one of his cupboards. It was green and its name too difficult for Nathaniel to recall or pronounce, but as the healer explained, the young prince would have to ingest the seed and then his body would throw it up, along with said poison, on its own.
His fever seemed somewhat worse now and his legs very weak, but despite all that, Nathan refused to do anything and kept his mouth shut. As if he didn't care he was poisoned.

Garrat would have cursed at Nathaniel's stubbornness, but decided against it. Instead, he just pinched his nose. He can't keep his mouth closed forever if the only other source of air was shut. "Stop acting like such a child, Nathaniel," the knight said. "How can I help you get over your illness if you won't try to get rid of the poison?"

Nathan pouted and held firm. The pinching to force him to breath seemed extreme, although it really was the only way Nathaniel was going to take the stupid thing in order to help him. Being the youngest prince, the train of thought Nathan was having was of course something along the lines of: I'm the youngest, therefore, I can act as childish as I want! Of course the thought wasn't meant to be a serious one. But at the moment, he couldn't help it! Especially when he couldn't breath.
Finally, at the point when Nathan's face was turning blue, he took a gasp of air and in went in that seed! Garrat was right it front of him so he couldn't even spit it out! Reluctantly, he chewed and swallowed the bitter seed and frowned. Tears welling in his eyes again as he knew what was now going to be a very unenjoyable experience.

As soon as Nathaniel took in some air, Garrat slipped the berry into the prince's mouth. Quickly grabbing an empty bucket, he held it in front of Nathaniel's face so the prince would have something to throw all the bile into. All they could do now was wait, but at least the rat poison would be out. Nathaniel may be upset for a while, but he would be alive.

The boy's chest felt tight as he knew what was going to be coming soon, but frown up at his friend as he sunk to floor with the bucket set in front of him. "w..what made you suddenly assume I was poisoned, Garrat?" he asked. Nathan started thinking of sadder thoughts. Who would actually want him dead? Who hated Nathaniel enough to poison him? Maybe, who ever they were, were just trying to put the prince out of his misery... And if that was the case, then would it really be wrong? If the prince continued thinking with that reasoning, he wouldn't be surprised if even Garrat poisoned him.... but then again, Garrat probably wouldn't do that and then do everything he could to get the poison out...
