"So she has realized it now..." Lerista watched her for a moment as her pace grew more and more frantic. The moment she sat close enough to him he took advantage of it and grabbed her and pulled her to sit next to him. He kept one arm about her waist to keep her still and the other pinned both of her hands. He spoke softly next to her head so she would understand. "Something happened to you last night...a demon came and took something vital of yours...something I am sure you just now found you are missing. The smell of demon hangs around you. Why they would need your heart I do not know. So I have one main question to ask you...and dont think this weird...it could be urgent. Are you a virgin?"

At that moment, her body burned up for many reasons. One was the unease of her mind, another was the closeness of how he is holding her, and the next was of the question he had asked. She was shocked by how close he was. She swallowed and said tentatively, "Yes, I ... have never been with any man. And you may be the first who has ever gone this close to me without being hit before." She squirmed at that but to no avail. She looked up to him and stared into his crimson eyes. "Why is that of importance?" She pressed herself on him and leaned over towards Lerista, "You know something, then tell me now."

Lerista sighed and relaxed his hold on her wrists but left his other arm about her waist. "Virgins blood, virgins heart. It can be used for many dark rituals, what exactly they have in mind to do with it I know not." He saw her shift but didn't question it or flinch. He wondered idly just what she was attempting to do, or maybe she didn't realize that she was getting closer to him. Then again, with the way she played around why hasn't she been with a man before? But that was a question he wouldn't ask. "Though good news is only a few spells require the destruction of the heart." He looked down in her eyes and smiled. "So I can probably get it back."

Evelyn's face showed doubt of how he could get her heart back. It seems he knew what was going on but she didn't understand what any of this has got to do with her and he doesn't know where or what is happening with her heart. The question still lays, why her heart? And how is she going to get it back. She thought a bit more and added another question to the list. Why is she still alive? "I thought humans can't live without a heart beating inside them. How is it that I am still breathing and talking to you?" And she wondered at the end statement he made. She was glad and a little bit relieved that there is a good possibility that she could get it back. But what does he mean when he said "So I can probably get it back" and not we? "Where do we start?" Evelyn said inconspicuously.

Lerista sighed and lowered his head a bit. "Humans cannot, this is true. But you are not human." He turned his eyes back to hers and tilted his head. "If you are then they are somehow keeping the heart beating. And if that is the case then a simple trace will work....but we cannot start this together. you will have to remain...only because...because...I dont want you to go where I have to to retrieve it." he lowered his head til his hair covered his face and he sighed. "I will have to follow the strings of your heart to the abyss if it was demon, but if it was who I think it was....I will have to go back to my home to retrieve it. Back to the underdark."

There is a chance that I am not human? Evelyn thought to herself. "And why can't I go to underdark? You said that women ruled right? And it is my heart. Besides I have a right to punish the person who did this. My safety is of no importance. I can fight like no other in my world, so I can handle myself. And I still want to see this underdark of yours, I want to see how it was for you." And maybe spread some chaos of my own she thought to herself. It still angers her of how they treat people. She looked up at Lerista once more and said, "You can't keep me from what I aim to do." With a fire in her eyes, she smiled.

Lerista looked in her eyes and smiled. "Your eyes tell me all I need to know...however there is a catch. Yes women do rule...you cannot however." He pointed to her skin and gently picked up some of her hair, then moved his finger to delicatly touch her ears. "You are not drow, that is obvious. Then there is another flaw." He moved his hand over her eyes and covered them. "You cannot see in pure black. And any sort of light would draw immense attraction by the wrong sort of things we want to see us. Yes we do have some luminous plants, however they are placed only in certain areas."

She squinted her eyes at Lerista. He made some good points, but she thought of every way possible to counter it. "What if I wore heavy clothing? Or find a person who can cast a spell to make me look drow. Looks are easily changed. And, I don't have to see. I have learned through my practice that when you lose one of your senses such as sight or hearing, you rely on all the others senses to guild your way. You are not handicapped but handicapable. What is this with light? Is it a weakness of your kind? Tell me all your doubts, but I will find within all the recesses of my mind a way to solve or counter each and every one." She sighed as she said all this. She was such a stubborn one, even she knew that. She was determined as ever and problem solving was one of her best qualities, even though sometimes her ideas were beyond what she could do or beyond what she can control. She just knew for sure that she did not want to stay here when he was down there fetching her heart for her. She magically makes everything sound so simple but in reality, it is so complicated she can not comprehend the madness of it all.

Lerista sighed and chuckled. "You are stubborn, but this is not a bad quality. Very well I can cast all these spells for you if needed...though I dont like to cast the dark magic anymore. The drow can see in even the darkest room where no light exists. We can see great distances as an elf would do in the moonlight." He moved his hand back over her eyes and spoke softly in a dark language. When he was done your eyes tingle and the light seems very bright, near bright enough to squint. "I have to live with this day after day. Though we can see in the blackest of shadows, the light is our enemy. For in direct sunlight we can even go blind." He moved his hand and whispered a quick word dispelling the spell on her eyes. His arm about her waist gripped her a bit closer and he whispered again. As he did your skin changes to black and your ears get pointy. "A women in our society while greater then that of men, are still under the rule of the priestess of Lloth. When they ask something you can be decietful, after all that is the way of our people." He found it odd, but the black seemed very fetching on her. He shook that thought from his mind before it had time to foster.

Evelyn was shocked by how easily he gave in. She smiled happily. She showed great interest in everything he said. When he put his hands over her eyes, she didn't really know what to expect. When she opened them again, everything went intense, she never knew this kind of feeling before. The light who was once a comfort became a discomfort and pain. She was glad that he changed her back. It was a, how you say, interesting experience, but she decided she liked the light how it is now. When she heard that the people were sensitive to light and can even go blind, she put that information down in her mind and knew it would help her later on. She was pulled closer and she wondered about him. After he spoke some strange words to her, her skin changed and she relished in her new look. She looked in awe at her arms and legs. She wanted to look at her face, wondered how it look dark. A grin spread across her face. "I can be ever so deceitful, lies seem to be a necessity in this world. Uncovering them is also a habit in which I have taken up." Her eyes darken as she lowered her head a bit. "Is it true I can control men as I please? Or is there something more to it?" She noticed as she looked at him how he softened for a second, but seem to clear his mind from the thought. "What were you thinking about?" She gave him a wary look.

Lerista heard a strange tone in her voice and decided to be truthful with her, after all she wasn't the person he had first made her out to be. "I was thinking how well the dark skin suits you. You look nice....that's all..." He smiled a bit and chuckled. "There is no need to be wary of me. I wont do anything to you that would defile you or hurt you." He picked up some of her hair with his off hand and smiled at it for a moment before letting it slip back down and he breathed in a bit. "The trademark skin is our sin. The people hate us because of it...and the elves even more so. You haven't seen a more bloodthirsty elf then one attacking a drow." His mind reminisced about the legends from so long ago. Sighing a bit he tried to smile again. "So I wont keep you in this skin while on the surface world. After all....I don't want to see them attack you because of my sins."

Evelyn gazed at Lerista intently. No one has ever said she looked nice, they always ran away when she approached them, she thought back to the tavern boy and laughed inwardly. "I am not worried that you would do anything to me," she seems to think that she was more of a danger to him than he was to her, but in a different sense. She giggled to herself at the wandering thoughts in her head. She watched as he held her hair in his hand and saw his face give off a smile. "That is very interesting, the sin is shown in your skin. Why do elves attack just because of your skin? Do they not have sins of their own?" When she heard the last part of his speech, her face grew full of sorrow and pity. She had an urge to hug him so she pushed forward and slid her arms around him tight. Her head was burrowed into his chest and he swayed back a bit. She mumbled into his shirt, "I'm sorry for everything and thank you."

Out of everything that move surprised him the most. He didnt quite know how to react, this being the first time he was ever hugged by anybody at all. A myriad of emotions crossed his face and finally he settled down and moved his other arm about her. He smiled softly to himself. For a moment he didnt speak at all, just enjoying the moment. He spoke softly so that she could still hear him without having to move. It was odd but he actually liked this closeness without pain. No female drow would ever let herself be in this kind of position, since it meant that the male could easily stab her in the back. "Its an old tale, one that took place when the gods roamed the world. The drow were once as pale skinned as elves. But we sought power and didnt wish to follow the ways of the elven god. So in a bloody war we fought them. They beat us back to the caves...the darkness. Once there we followed the whispers of the goddess Lloth, who promised power to strike back. We adapted to the darkness and our hearts grew as black as our skin. Though there are exceptions such as I...we are few and far between." He moved his hand through her hair again. Her warmth keeping a smile on his face. "They hate us because he were at war with each other. And even now drow would seek any means to torture any elf they take into captivity."

Evelyn felt his arm go around her and sighed with relief. She closed her eyes as he told the story. She listened, his voice was close and soothing. She thought about his words carefully. "This goddess didn't give what she promised, instead," Evelyn whispered, "this woman took away the power and kept it for herself. When the people rebelled, they didn't want to follow the elven god, but they would rather follow this goddess Lloth? She seemed to have manipulated their anger and hurt and turned it to her advantage. But there seems to be no bond, nor power, just a crafty woman." Evelyn felt him stroking her hair and relaxed a little. "How long has it been for this to go so far?"

"For centuries, longer then I have been alive several times over. Roughly two or three thousand years. Though the goddess promised power, she did indeed give it to us. Just not the kind we were expecting. Magic of chaos and even consorting with demons, some even mating with them. In the underdark some will lower themselves to attain higher power...by any means. This will be very dangerous, but I will take you along with me." He found his own emotions to be strange and hard to trust. Something he never felt in the underdark was brooding beneath his surface, and it was for her. He cared if she got hurt? This was strange to him.
