If you're a member of the C&TPD, you'd better hope nobody comes to me with your name and a complaint. We're here to keep the place clean, not enforce the clean.

Additionally, do not pre-emptivley warn people about rules. If people are reading the stickies, you'll just anger them. It's better to tell them what rule they've broken AFTER it happens, so then you'll actually have a reason to tell them what they've done wrong.

I wish to appologize for this night and any problems that may have been caused by my actions in the whole 'hacker' thread issue.

I had the topic deleted for two reasons:

1. The topic was turning into an argument about if it was legal or not
2. The link posted. Posting links to sites about md5 cracking is against the ToS.

Now I could have very well just had that post deleted but then there would be a massive bitchfest about how the topic should have been deleted in the first place or whatnot.

So what is done is done and let's just leave it at that. Yeah I was gone when yall were discussing this so I figured I would give en explaination.

I actually did not find the topic to be against the ToS UNTILL that link was posted. So, Arethic, while the topic did have the potential to turn out the way it did the topic was legal.

I know, at first all I really wanted to do is just say that, cause that has to be atleast the 40th hacker type thread i've seen, and they all do start out clean, but I always try and inform the thread starter to atleast keep an eye on their thread, cause alot of newbs will usually come in and screw it up by posting some link to a cheesy site they think will probably make them look cool by presenting hacker materials.

But from now on, I will leave them alone and let them rise and fall on their own, the most I might do is check in it if it is night time or something and not many people are online, just to make sure that there are no posts in the thread containing ToS violating material.

You know, when I first signed up for C&T, I wrote these specific rules down in notepad and saved them to my desktop, now these were taken from the how to contact mods thread in ED.

************************************************************
Rules for Forums
OP = Original Post

OP contains hate messages, selling something for cash, pornography, serial numbers or other illegal activities
--> Deletion.

OP posted a topic that has been done multiple times
--> recyclebin

OP is 100% nonsense or advertising anything.
--> chatterbox

OP has a problem directly or indirectly related to Gaia
--> Questions and Feedback.

OP is begging for gold
--> charity or chatterbox, depending on how detailed the OP was.

OP deals with video games or video game consoles
--> Video games

OP is having problems with their computer.
--> Computers and Technology

OP is selling art for gold
--> Minishops

OP wants to buy custom art with gold
--> art commisions

OP is selling an item for gold
--> gaian exchange
************************************************************

I think these would be a good thing to post into the main post of this thread, so that if anyone has any question about a thread or post, they need to read this, and if they still have any questions about a thread or post then it should be made clear that they need to contact one of the C&T knowledgeable mods, or a member of the C&T PD that has been here awhile and has dealt with posts enough to give a good response.

Arethic, that's stuff every member should know already. Not only from being a member of the C&TPD, but from being a member of Gaia itself.

I realize that, and I also have realized that alot of people that don't know it, not in C&TPD, but general gaia, and I thought it would be a somewhat of an idea cause then perhaps anyone that would come into this guild and look at us, they would have a better idea, instead of calling us vigilantes and more danger to the C&T forums than actual spammers.

Question, does anyone take any official action against users in C&T that post the images common to many forms like "How 'bout a nice cup of 'Shut the ******** Up'" and the like? I mean, I've seen many users (example: Ota) post images like these in the threads that the C&TPD ends up reporting anyway. I've attempted to admonish them, but to no avail. Should we report these posts and/or users to mods?

They haven't exactly done something against the rules. If we get Sisky, Xeon, or Twistex to put in the rules sticky that just posting an image is one of the definitions of spam, then we can get their posts deleted and the Gaians warned for posting such spam.
