Intoxicated Tentacles

Zevi snickered gleefully when Rex went under. When he began swimming towards her she attempted to dodge the underwater tackle, though it wasn't as easy to dodge in the water, and the already short distance between the two made it even more difficult for her to dodge.

Bahaha, this was his chance! He gave a final direct and push with his feet, meeting her squarely enough that his arms went around her waist and his head bumped her stomach lightly. He tried blocking out the fact that something...higher brushed his head a little, but when that failed he instead reveled in it, grinning wide as he pulled her under with him. Then, quick as he'd grabbed her, he let go and pushed off of her stomach with his hands, flipping over her in the water before speeding away like a startled fish.

Intoxicated Tentacles

Zevi moved a little less gracefully underwater, her large upright horns acted more as anchors to slow her down and while her tail could cut through the water quite quickly this meant that it wasn't suited to help speed up her swimming at all. When she surfaced she let out a short laugh and turned around and going after Rex, she'd have an easier time chasing and catching him if she stayed above water. If she could catch him it'd be easy enough to start a bit of a wrestling match, she'd just have to make sure to keep her tail wrapped around him so he couldn't get away as easily.

The playful wrestling match had gone on for a bit, when the roughhousing calmed Zevi took to floating around near the shallow end, enjoying the water and the company. After a while she had pulled herself out of the water "I'll have to take you to the hot springs up north sometime, maybe when we go pay my family a visit?" she said looking over at Rex.

Rex dove and dodged for a while, sometimes just barely avoiding her, other times letting her brush him just a bit. He would swim circles around her, poking her sides and back in jest. It was the most good-natured fun he'd had in a while. When they finally settled down, Rex took notice that some of the crowd had left. Namely, Mark and his posse. The two girls from before were suntanning side by side in incredibly skimpy bikinis, and Richard was still under the palm tree, watching every move they made. He shrugged and laid back in the water.

"Mm, if we neutralize the danger first, then sure. Don't wanna be nearly nude in unfriendly territory if you know what I mean." He dove under, somersaulting, then surfaced again. "That and I'm sure they wouldn't take kindly to me being there."

He had heard that city trolls were often killed for sport. He wasn't interested in rotting on a pike, no sir.

"We'll have to wait until after Mark makes a visit up there then, if he does." she didn't want to go to the hot springs at the same time as him, no matter how hilarious it would be to watch the events unfold. "But you're right, they wouldn't be very happy about either of us being there." she muttered leaning forward, tapping the side of her nose.

She had time, but she'd have to figure out how to approach the whole thing. "the only problem I really see, is finding a way around my ma's magic..." she rubbed just under her eye, the kind of magic her mother had wasn't the usual elemental or spiritual magic that most magic using trolls had. "Something to worry about later" Zevi said pushing herself back into the water, ready to have another go at Rex. As far as she was concerned, she would be content with stay there all day.

"I'm sure he will, but he'll probably do research on it first knowing him. All the research in the world won't save him from getting stepped on though!" Rex guffawed a bit, then listened to the rest. He knew she was looking to tackle him again, and he resolved to let her, but played coy for the time being. "So your mom is one of those, eh? I have zero magic ability myself, but I've heard the wonders and terrors it's capable of. I haven't seen much other than what Hemani's group uses now and then."

Rex was having a lot of fun, too. He did know that no place was safe forever, though, so he was already making an escape plan in the event it was necessary.

Intoxicated Tentacles

Giving a silent laugh she wondered how accurate the information that could be found was, if it was on point and brutally honest or even over the top a little, it might be thought that she was trying to get him killed.

"Her magic is" she paused with a soft sigh and dove under water to give herself a bit more time to think. She wasn't sure how to explain what her mother could do, if she could remember even the basics of control that had been taught to her she'd show him but remembering was like trying to catch a fish with your bare hands while out in the middle of the ocean. "her magic, is magic that's can take a physical form?" she continued after surfacing, more offering the explanation than giving it, not sure if it even made any sense since most types of magic did have a physical form of one kind or another.

Zevi dove under the water one more time, choosing to try and pull him under with her rather than push him under. She wouldn't be able to swim away as quickly as he had last round, though she didn't mind.

Rex considered the types of magic he had seen and heard of and repelled an urge to shiver. His imagination ran a bit wild. That sort of arcane would be a tough adversary to face.

"Hell, that just means I need to bring bigger guns, and probably some back-up," he said with a carefree shrug - at least, that's what he wanted it to look like. He grinned and made a fake gun with his finger, pointing it at Richard on the shore. "I'm not scared to face death. I'm just scared I'll go without a big bang!"

Richard smirked and shook his head, but offered no response.

Rex watched Zevi dive under out of the corner of his eye, but misjudged her reach. When she pulled him under, he gulped a little water. He didn't let it faze him though. He ruffled her hair again before he broke away and tumbled backward under the water.

Intoxicated Tentacles

She was glad that he was so confident about it, she wouldn't back down but it definitely made her feel better about the whole thing. Of course, she also didn't want anyone to simply shoot her mother and be done with it just like that. She wanted there to be a way to prevent her from using magic, she wanted her mother to know exactly how it felt to have your own blood turn on you, and she wanted it to last. The more she thought about it, the more anger she had to push back down.

Zevi grinned when she felt Rex's hand on her head, she might also have to thank her mother for it. If she hadn't needed to stop to change the bandages on her arm, she would have reached the city sooner than she had and from the way Rex had explained things to her, it could very easily have meant they'd be enemies.

When she felt her feet touch the bottom of the pool, she wasted no time pushing herself after Rex. Neither of us are gonna die... She'd be damned if she escaped with her life only to go back and get Rex or herself killed.

Rex didn't really think they'd die - he just wanted it to be clear that it was a possibility. Forever the realist, some would say. After all, a lack of knowledge on magic could very well mean his death anywhere.

He let Zevi chase after him, pretending to swim away but doing so in slow motion. If she caught him, he'd tease her more. If she didn't, he'd attack with lightning speed. This was too fun.

His thoughts were soon on their next move, though. Hemani would need to be dealt with quickly, or she would find them and raise hell. Quite frankly, he really didn't feel like putting up with her s**t.

Intoxicated Tentacles

Chasing Rex around underwater, she could tell he was moving much slower than he had been earlier, something she appreciated since it meant she didn't have to spend quite so much energy trying to keep up with him.

She did manage to catch him this time, it had taken her a minute and she had needed to give herself another boost by pushing off the floor of the pool. It was a bit of a risky move since her horns were upright and sharp, but she knew Rex was fast enough to swim out of the way if her aim was off. She'd aimed herself off the side of him, keeping her head straight again so that she would be able to end up next to him, and used her tail to wrap around him and pull herself closer. Giving him an underwater hug spinning them both around a couple times and taking the chance to ruffle his hair for once, hoping it would give her a second to get away, before unwrapping her tail and pushing away to make for the surface where it would be easier for her to escape any retaliation..

The chase had been expected but the hug had not. Rex inhaled sharply as their chests touched, water making him gag. He hoped the blush wasn't too visible. He tried to not tense up as he reciprocated the hug and hair ruffle. When she released, he simply floated to the surface and coughed some, resting on his back. Once recovered, he stared at the sky. It was starting to look like it might rain, but he was okay with that for now.

He looked over at Richard, who was laughing and shaking his head. He'd apparently seen something of their interaction.

"Aw, shut up Richie," Rex snarled, splashing water the orc's way.

Richard didn't move as he knew the water would miss from this distance. "Hey, I didn't say anything."

Intoxicated Tentacles

Zevi felt just a little bad hearing Rex cough up water, but only laughed lightly in response knowing he'd probably get her back for it later. Swimming by she moved to give a quick poke at his sides before swimming away, hopefully with his focus on Richard he wouldn't see it coming. Once she was back at the edge of the building she looked out over the city, this time trying to see if she could tell which of the many buildings were the ones they had already been to. She couldn't, from this high up they all looked they the same, at least to her they did. That didn't make the view any less amazing.

She knew it wasn't very late, but she did find herself just a little tired. Of course, she had no intention of saying so, she was having too much fun and figured there would be plenty of time to sleep later. Leaning on the edge, almost sitting on it, she gave up on finding where they had been, instead going over what she had been told about the city so far. She had a good memory, but it wasn't perfect and with everything that she had to keep in mind she knew she was going to forget things, if she hadn't already forgotten something.

Rex didn't see it coming, and jumped just enough to flounder in the water. Once he had righted himself, he snorted some and tread in place, scanning the depths for her.

Richard cackled onshore, shaking his head. "She's totally gonna to be a challenge for your patience, Rex. Aye?"

As she surfaced, he shook his head at Richard and swam over to her. He didn't know exactly what she was thinking but could wager a guess based on her expression. "Pretty damn overwhelming. isn't it? Even us city folk get blindsided by the size of it all sometimes."

He climbed out of the water as he saw droplets of rain fall around him. It seemed as though the weather was urging him to move on now, and he intended to do so soon.

Intoxicated Tentacles

"Maybe just a little bit, but I'll be fine." she replied after a moment, having to force herself out of her own thoughts and process what he had said to her. She had to be fine, she didn't have the option of going back. Even if she did, she refused to let herself be scared off just because something was large and unfamiliar to her. "It's more fun that way, I think, means there will always be something new happening. Maybe I'm just used to life up north, but it's usually the same thing every day. Occasional bickering over territory, fixing what the weather broke, trying to stay warm if the weather gets to low even for us, and doing our damnedest to find and catch food so we didn't go hungry." Zevi shook her head at the last one.

When she had first started hunting for food on her own, or the few times she had been allowed to lead the hunting party, the pressure of needing to prove she could do it had often caused her to make mistakes that had more than once caused them to go hungry for a night. She had gotten over it quick enough after she had been in hunting parties led by others that failed to bring back food, and when the hunger pains kicked in from going without for too long. That had been one of her reasons for coming to the city, catching the fish that they relied so heavily on for food was becoming near impossible. Many blamed it on the cities, their use of the giant boats allowing them to catch fish in larger numbers than any of them had thought possible.

Letting her head fall back, eyes closed, she enjoyed the feeling of the rain hitting her face at least for a moment before a thought surfaced. "Rex...we can't be out in this with the limbs Magi gave us, can we?" she looked over at him, not lifting her head. She didn't show it, but she was a little sad that the rain might cut their day short, and maybe the tiniest bit grateful that it might do so.
