I'm a senior in college, will be graduating with a physics major. It seems like I just started, but it's almost over. Scary sometimes.

I didn't see the comment on Candide earlier, but I'm commenting on it now. whee
The story is sarcastic to an extreme... Voltaire's philosophy seems to be that true happiness can never be found, but that work takes your mind of your misery. So everyone should work, so that they don't get too depressed. And no one should see the world, because bad things will happen.
That's what it seemed to me, because after all the bad happenings that Candide suffered, he and his companions moved into the little house and were miserable. Then they met the man and his daughters who were almost content because work kept them too busy for contemplation. And then they all went home and worked in the garden. neutral

Wow, the play Candide doesn't sound that great to me now. Maybe I'll just pass up on reading that. Thanks for the comment on the play Kalile Alako.

Yeah, but Candide is still hilarious. It is worth at least a try. See what you think for yourself. It is a classic for a reason.

So, anybody read any good books lately?
I've been reading "Brand New World" by Aldous Huxley, and it started slow, but it is really intriguing. It's worth checking out if you're in the mood to read something totally out of this world.

I'm almost finished East of Eden. Marvellous. And I finished The Hobbit a couple nights ago. So much fun blaugh !
My nest book in line is Pendragon...because it was cheap ninja .

My nest book in line is Pendragon...because it was cheap ninja . Heh, well, I love Pendragon. It's really fun. The only problem is I am afraid it just isn't popular enough and the series will end before it's truly finished crying And, of course, East of Eden is maybe my favorite book of all time, or at least, of the great, great classic books. It's definitely the best book I've ever read, though.

^I've been hearing good things about Pendragon. I'm excited.
East of Eden is fantastic. I hate Kate so much scream . She ruins everyones life and then she goes and commits suicide<----just in case you havent read it.
The b***h I tell you. Only 70 pages left! Tonight I shall finish it and forever hate her guts!
In a positive way of course sweatdrop .

Heh, no, she is just that awful. She was meant to be an archetype, like all of the side related to Adam. The other family was just autobiographical, which I found odd xd

The Hamiltons? I adored Tom and went into mourning when he died. I was so excited to be reading about him because I felt I really related to him. Then he died. It was kind of a downer. One minute "yeah! hes just like me! squeee!" the next....."well....so maybe not just like me sweatdrop "

East of Eden is such a marvellous book. I read it about 4 years ago, all I can say is Do Not See The Movie, unless you see the miniseries version. The movie sucks.

I want to, but I jsut KNOW that they are going to muck it up and make it wrong and that lot. I hate them for it, yet I HAVE to see it anyways.... Pooh.
