sheathforkatana ok i posted here las night ind i was OUT OF IT, but now im rested and i can really tell you what im all about. i started playing alto sax in 5th grade? i think and i played that until i got to eith grade and saw my first euphonium and i fell in love!!!!and that wastwo years ago ad i made the top band this year on it......i tried trumpet that same year and my chops are just not made for it(but i can play and like to play flugel) and i tried trombone.....thats just hard and im doing that again now cuz i wont be able to do everything in jazz on my valve trombone, lol, or really much at all but its different... and i picked up clarinet the year afetr which would be my freshman year, and i still play a bit im an ok 3rd or 4th clarinet but my favorite and the one im bet at is the alto clarinet, *melts*, and just this year i got into bass and i love it i especially love jazz bass (i love the endless quarter notes too, cuz you can play with em)and i got into jazz this year when i really tried improvising and i liked it, and well my marching band is doing a big band jazz showw this coming year which im excited about rofl if theres anyrhing else i forgot and you want to know just like......i dont know, message me, OH and im a sophmore in highschool Wow that's alot of instruments! Hey, i have been playing tumpet since 6th grade and im currently in 10th grade. Jazz is the best thing thats happened to me, and if there was no jazz i wouldnt be in band. Trumpet wise i would say im better than most but ive got my weaknesses like improv., but my range makes up for it wink I've been reading through here and I really havnt seen any screaming trumpets. Especially in the artists page. I'll have to see if i can put Maynard ferguson in there xd

Howdy all. I'm Lunaris, or Luna for short, and I'm glad to be here. I'm a casual jazz fan. Not heard a whole lot of it, but I love a good live jazz concert. 3nodding I don't play anything anymore, but I used to play recorder and xylophone in school. rofl I'm a rabid music addict, and love to sing. ~La, la, la, la, la~

Hello,
I'm a high school senior who is attending college next year as a music education major. I started out on saxophone in sixth grade. I started on clarinet also between seventh and eight grade. I pick up a Benny Goodman CD at that time and became hooked on big band jazz. At some point I became mainly a better clarinetist than saxophonist. I am hooked on performing and listening to jazz. I will be lead alto sax in the Howard Payne University Jazz band this next year. I've played Lead tenor the last couple of years. I play on a Mark 6 alto (and what a bargain I got on it) with a SR Technologies mouth piece. I also play Jazz piano and comp. I'm self-taught on piano though, so I'll have alot of bad habits to break this next year in my piano classes.
I like to listen to Goodman still, also Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Teddy Wilson, Lionel Hampton, Bing Crosby, Artie Shaw Sinatra and Fred Astaire. Astaire didn't have the most amazing voice, but great style. If you doubt that listen to his recording of "A Foggy Day".
I came across Astaire when I took up Tap Dancing Last year. Great jazz experience.
Anyway, that's about it.

I check out some Eddie Daniels recordings. Nice!!! I like it very much. He has a very different tone that Benny's. Benny plays on a 1 and a half strenght reed from what I understand, Daniels seems to be on a four or five to me by his tone. He sounds very modern and solid, where Benny was lighter and thinner (thinner tone but in a good way). Anyway that's what I think. Hey, is there anyway to share personal recordings here?
