Lol, I can picture the scene - Kira and Lacus, reunited in death.

You know, I think it's quite obvious who they were going to kill. Kira and Cagalli. It makes perfect since. Why not kill off the greatest creation that existed among mankind both natural and coordinator alike? Poor Athrun would have no choice but to end up with Lacus....or Meer. stare
Maybe that's why they created a Lacus look-a-like. In fact, that might account for Athrun's behavior in Destiny. Why he deflected Orb and went back to Zaft. No, wait just imagine it. If Cagalli really did die...Athrun would have went with Orb in her respect right? But he wasn't getting treated fairly and so Dulindal was able to manipulate his thinking and get him to go back to Zaft. And then Athrun starts questioning his decision. Was the choice he made right? Did he really do Cagalli justice? And then that's where Meer, Luna, and Meyrin comes into the picture. It will explain why Athrun gained some sort of relationship with them so freely without stopping to think about Cagalli. And then it was up to Lacus to be strong and save the day. I mean if you really look at the show carefully, it's almost as if Athrun's actions were totally against Cagalli and Kira. Sort of like they weren't there. I don't know....it's just me and my odd mind. But think about it. o.o

eek My eyes!!! 4laugh j/k
Anyways, back to what Mishu wrote, I did think about it. But what I want to know is exactly why they created a character like Meer, and then killed her. What was her importance? To brainwash Athrun, or bring Lacus out of hiding?

Most likely to bring Lacus out of hiding and maybe toil with Athrun's emotions a bit. But most likely, they probably killed her because she was so unpopular with the fans.

or perhaps just because they haven't killed anyone else for quite a few episodes and they just needed someone to die. oh and i guess to add an extra episode in to make a nice rounded 50 =P

No...that's not it. They had a ton of clip shots to fill in that 50 episode margin. They could have just kept adding them if they found themselves coming in short.

Anyways, back to what Mishu wrote, I did think about it. But what I want to know is exactly why they created a character like Meer, and then killed her. What was her importance? To brainwash Athrun, or bring Lacus out of hiding? Meer was a tool to make everyone who knew Lacus think that Dullindal had her backing. D never really intended for Meer to die...the shot that killed her was aimed at Lacus. They wanted to completely replace the real Lacus, which is why they tried to have her killed near the beginning of the show.

You know, I keep forgetting about that scene. I knew there was some conspiracy in killing off main characters. Sheesh, the creators were cruel. However, I realy do wish that they would have sticked to their original ideas for all of the Gundam SEED franchise. Maybe that way, Destiny wouldn't have turned into such a bust.

I wouldn't consider Destiny to be a bust. I enjoyed the series. It's just Destiny left me with less answers and more questions. I would have prefered no Destiny, but it was nice to know what was going on with the characters.
