We only need crew for certain things, right? Even people who do the newsletter don't have to be on crew. What do we really, truly, need crew for? I just don't see what the big deal about being crew is.

Rathmanian Of course he doesn't believe in voting. He's a damn commie. Ehhh, thats not really it, it's just this guild isn't capable of having nice things, or it will be abused soon after its given to them.

I enjoy nice things.
EDIT: Voting would turn into a popularity contest though.

Yes it would, Rath. And people saying 'WELL SO AND SO SHOULD GET THIS POSITION BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN HERE FOREVER.' Not really paying attention to personality and capability, just the length of time they've been around.
or 'we shouldn't have so and so on here because they're *~*~BIASED~*~*'.

I just don't see what the big deal about being crew is. I did a good job at cooling down heated situations and gathering everyone to settle disputes in a calm manor.
The fact that the only reason I wasn't recrew'd because a couple people said, "if we put Baron back on crew, iDi would be jealous/bitter, and vice versa, and we don't want both of them on crew" is an extremely senseless reason.

Thats the problem right there, people would be picking friends, not good leaders

It's what I do in situations (in and out of the guild) daily.

votes should be disqualified for the "well lul i just like so and so more" there could be an added "WHY should they get that job?" section to votes.
like i've said before, resumes and stuff.

Smartest-Little-Peanut that could work. but it could always backfire. then demand a recount. not every one would be up for vote, there would be steps involved. well before it all starts, a list should be made of what jobs need to be done, on a regular basis, by crew, to determine how much crew is needed. First, open self and public nominations. Self nominees know what they are capable of. Other people feel useless and really aren't confident and hopefully some one else recognizes their use and nominates them. A public list should be issued so that lets say "oh, i'm on it and i don't want to be crew." then i can withdraw myself. Second, proof that those up aren't dicking around and can actually carry out assigned duties, be it through resumes interviews or examples of what they do. And a look at the track record of the person, are they a flake, are they dependable, a big screening process. Third, with the lame asses weeded out by step 2, look at who is left, and what jobs need filling. If a job has several people to fit the bill(jobs with only one candidate are a auto win), open public vote with specifications. like...you have to give ligit reasons for your vote, and it has to be one of the approved people up for the run off.

Especially since you were the one who edited posts the 2nd time it happened. (ABUSE OF CREW POWER- the very reason most people are upset about who is and is not crew). The rest of the comment was also directed at you, saying voting does not have to be fail. The sentences were seperated for a reason.
@ Hasina & Peanut - I suggested that if there were to be a nomination or something of the sort reguarding crew, it should include what the nominee has to offer as crew.(back a page or so)
