(continued from wasteland) Nine days later, Twixi came quietly stumbling into the motor pool late one night. And hastily made her way into his office finding to her dismay the place completely abandoned this late at night, siting quietly on Marks chair in his office, as she unhooked his office phone, and dialed his job pager for emergencies and left it on the table as it rang.
Her dirty feet resting comfortably on his desk as she waited, One... Two... Three.. She counted as the tones as they kept ringing telling her that Mark's beeper would be sounding off each time. Annoying the hell out of him until he came storming into his office and hung up the phone him self.

-Continued from the barracks-
The doors to the motor pool slid open, Mark still dressed only in his boxers and shirt entered the room. "I swear to god i'm gonna rip that damn phone from the hook, and then rip the initiate who keeps paging me a new one!" he said behind clenched teeth. Mark saw his office light was on, and figured that's where the calls where coming from. Mark clenched his fists, the gears in his new arm slightly scraping metal on metal.
Mark hunched his shoulders, making him look more surly and gorilla like, approaching his door he could see a figure sitting in his chair, who it was he couldn't tell due to the distortion from the glass. Gasping the door handle he pushed it open, expecting some hot shot initiate trying to act cool, instead he saw a familiar face. "Alex..." he said, his angered expression becoming less angry, and more of a frustrated. "Damn it woman! Why the hell are you calling me out in the middle of the night when I'm in my skivvies! It's cold out! You made me think i had something important out here... and then here you are... messing up the place looking fine and being bad a**!" he said. Letting out a deep sigh, he collected himself, the frustration gone and small grin, before speaking once more.
"Welcome back"

Alex sat there quietly listening, her feet resting on his desk and her hands cupped over her combat armored stomach as she watched him intensely, noticing the new arm and leg but giving no reaction.
"Hello Mark." She answered with a smile, as she pulled her feet down and leaned forward in the chair as she hung up the phone.
"I see you haven't gone and bitten the dust yet, looks like you had a close one though." Alex said nodding towards his new arm, as she got up from her seat and walked over to him, extending her right arm to offer her old friend a handshake.

Mark smiled, "Yeah, was following someone from the brotherhood who took a Humvee out without proper paper work. Son of a b***h open fired at me blew up my Humvee and well... this is how i ended up. I'm gonna find out who it was and I'm gonna make him pay ten fold..." he said remembering whoever it was was wearing power armor, more than that he had removed the GPS units in the vehicles.
Mark tapped his his left foot against the ground, it was a bit more heavy sounding than his right, "yeah also got a new leg to. I managed to talk those boys over in the med lab to overlay synthetic skin to make me feel more whole, however I'm still considering the arm..." he said moving it around a bit.
As Alex got up and made her way towards her, he noticed her outstretched arm. Grabbing it firmly with his own hand he shook, but a mere moment later Mark threw his left arm around Alex, giving her a nice big bear hug.
"So where have you been? Bringing law to the lawless wastelands?" he asked, she had only been gone a short time but still any amount of time without a friend would seem long and dull and information had to be exchanged for the passing of time.

"Hmph, well i'm glad my misfortune helped in keeping you alive. And if you figure out who it was give me a call i'd gladly give you a few tips on torture." She said with a wicked grin that was quickly exchanged for a surprised expression, as Mark suddenly hugged here.
Sighing lightly and returning the hug as she shook her head, before she let go and gave the man a light push to signal that the moment was passed, and that he would lose the other arm if he didnt let go. "South, waaay south. Past the Outpost, i spent a month or two traveling around the local villages in that area before i traveled even deeper into the south wasteland. Not much out there, a few ruined old cities and tribals. I eventually found a somewhat intact town with a few hundred or so people living in it. Stayed there for four months while i traveled around." Alex answered as she sat down on top of Mark's desk and crossed her legs as she gave Mark a curious look before continuing. "Not to much law enforcing, i did do a little here and there. Got me in allot of trouble, i wasted a small raiding party, apparently one of them was some big shots son. So i ended up with a bunch of bounty hunters chasing me down. To tell the truth the only reason i returned, was because they chased me so far up north i didn't have any choice but to stop by the Outpost to resupply." Alex said with a faint smile as she shrugged her shoulders.

Mark leadned against the doorframe and listened to Alex tell him on her small brief run down of what had happened over the past couple of months.
It wasn't too much of a surprise knowing how Alex rolled, but to be pushed back to brotherhood territory by simple raiders and bounty hunters, now that was a feat of it's own. "Really? The great Alex Varg pushed back by bounty hunters and raiders... They must have been hounding your a** day and night. Did you go down as far as old Texas? I heard that the lone stare rangers still run a constant patrol around it's state, someplace by where Huston used to be, then again this is from only what i hear from travelers that come through the brotherhood trade zones and towns." he said. Mark was excited he was dealing with a quote, unquote "convict" of the wastelands, or public enemy.
"Well I'm sure you had fun, i came pretty close to leaving along with several other members shortly after you hitched a ride on the wasteland express," he said, "but didn't still here and well... made Junior Paladin. Who would have thought. Still working on my armor to get it to the more menacing knighthood look." he said.
"i'm glad your back i really missed you, things where getting kinda dull..."

Alex smirked as she placed her hands in her lap, as she looked around the office whilst she listened to Mark speak. Offering him a slight chuckle at his remark of anyone managing to chase her anywhere. "At first it wasn't much of a problem, didn't even realize i was being hunted until i got ambushed by a squad of Mercs near the place i was staying. At first it was just the everyday raider out in the wastes that tried to cap me, then a slaver or two. And then it was a full blown manhunt. Dune buggies and machine guns, and the town i was staying in didn't exactly have much to offer in the means of ammunition for my more.. Exotic weapons, otherwise i would probably be the one chasing them." Alex said with a slight smile followed by a playful laugh, the fact was that the situation was more severe then she had lead him to believe, as they nearly managed to kill her on several occasions not to mention almost running her over with there vehicles.
"Thats actually where i was planning on going, never got that far though. I stopped by that town and spend those three months looking for a caravan rout or something to make the long open terrain travel less well deadly. But as my current presence foretells i never managed to get that far." She said and shrugged her shoulders as she gave Mark a mischievous glare. "Well now that im back i'm sure things will get more "interesting" soon."
Alex then blushing slightly and looked down at the floor and mumbled something incoherent. "I missed you too.."

Mark crossed his arms while leaning against the door frame, rather concerned for his friend since e from what he ahd been told so far she had cut it rather close herself. "Pfft... your a Big girl, i'm surprised you didn't decided to take on their buggy's... that s**t doesn't hurt so much if you get a chance to brace for it i tried... hurts pretty bad when they hit you at 30mph even with bracing, and you get knocked over... though that's why i've been in the forge recently" he said as he heard a beeping noise from his arm, which made him barely hear what Alex had said.
Letting out a sigh the man knew what it meant, "Hey can you do me a favor? he asked. "You think you could reach into the draw behind you before my arm decides to--" suddenly Marks right arm slid from it's position and then slammed into the wooden door leaving a big fist print in the wood of the door, "... go out... " he said letting out a sigh. Mark looked at the heavy piece of dead weight, and looked for a small hatch. Popping it open he pulled out a small battery no bigger than a AAA battery, "Yeah found some micro fusion cells that fit perfectly into the power slot instead of having the small reactor in the arm itself. I forgot to swap batteries out yesterday and now i'm stuck with some dead weight" he said.
"What where you planning on doing once you made it to Huston?" he asked.

Alex glanced over her shoulder as she dipped over the Desk to open the drawer, grabbing the small power unit inside, Alex tossed it over towards Mark before she sat her self upright once more.
"Meh, the reactor makes the arm a little heavy but nothing you dont get used to eventually. Only real problem is that once the reactor goes dead you cant do much about it." Alex said as she lifted her cybernetic arm up into the air and waved it around before letting it drop down and rest in her lap once more.
"I didn't really have a plan, i just wanted to get away from all this crap you know? I heard that Texas was pretty civilized, got there own government up and running to. I was more or less just planning on getting there and offering them my experience and expertise.. Basically i just wanted a quiet life for a year or two i suppose." Alex said giving him a rather sad frown as she sighed and laid down on her back on Marks desk.
"But it ain't that bad here either..."

Catching the battery as it was tossed to him, Mark tossed the old one in the battery recycle bin that he had made a couple weeks back. placing the new one on he heard the arm fill with power, and felt a tingle at the tip of his nerves as the machine started recving nerve pulses. Making a couple of clenched fists with his hand he wanted to make sure that it was getting a full function.
Listening to what Alex said about her arm, Mark watched as Alex waved around hers, "Yeah but the chances of your arms power source going dead is in the next one or two hundred years unless you use it to recharge your energy weapons and such..." he said slightly envious that she wouldn't need battery changes ever, unless the reactor itself was damaged, and if that happened might as well kiss your a** goodbye.
Mark agreed with some of the things that Alex was saying, "yeah Texas is like the old days... er... from what I've heard and read in books. Not like that NCR bullshit that they have going on in the West" he said watching her sprawl out on his desk, which reminded him he had been in the middle of sleep before he rushed over here. Walking over to his closet which held his uniforms and pulled it towards himself, a clicking noise could be heard as it was lowered, revealing a twin sized mattress that was covered with plastic wrap, showing that it hadn't been used since he had installed it. "forgot about this bed until you where laying there," he said as he removed the plastic wrap and tossed it to the side. Throwing himself down onto the substitute bed, "ugh... that feels fantastic... as you can tell I've made a lot of changes to the office." he said resting his head against a moderately soft pillow.

"Heh, well atleast the NCR wont have a chance to become much of a problem considering they share boarders with the old Brotherhood." Alex said as she watched Mark pull out the bed hidden in the wall, watching the man lay down and praise his more comfortable accommodations, Alex couldn't help but snort at him.
"Mm, the fact that you can see the floor in this office is a major change on its own." Alex said humorously as she remembered the mess that used to be her office, paper work and tools, oil stains and grease, nuts and bolts, and god knows what else spread all over the place.
"Soo, on to the question we have all been waiting for me to ask. What's happened while i'v been gone?" She asked curiously, her eyes fixated on a small dark spot in the ceiling right above the chair. A stain left from years of cigarette smoke discoloring the white paint.

Mark let out a sigh hearing of the old brotherhood, "yeah well hopefully both of them don't choose to expand over the mountain range, especially in our current state. I know we don't have the numbers or people that will be able to distinguish friend from foe" he said turning his head and laying it on the side of the pillow, his eye's closed as he rested his eye's.
Scoffing at her remark of how she could see the floor had been a feat of strength on its own, spending several days searching through what was old, and what was still useful, "Heh, yeah... well if you want i had made a box of stuff that i found that belonged to you... it has a few partially smoked cigarettes, s few rounds of ammunition, a snapshot of something i think... dunno, a couple of bras and panties... and a diary... i dunno i couldn't read your writing when i found it at the time. Might be something completely different, didn't bother reading it since it might be personnel" he said gesturing to a shoe box located next to the garbage bin. "I figured you'd might find some of it useful but you left before i could give it to you" he said rolling over and pulling the woolen covers over his body.
Hearing her last remark, Mark's eye's opened, not really wanting to explain what happened to him with the guild but meh, she had the right to know. "Well... As you can tell there where several change of commands since you left... i can't remember if you where here when Xenos was in charge... didn't see you all that often. So ender retired and gave the power to Xenos and in turn Xenos gave the power to EV and now things seem to be balancing out." he said letting out a deep sigh. "we also started receiving an influx of initiates since you left, some are still here, others are not... Brutus has left... which i really don't have a problem with.. .the guy was kinda depressing, don't get me wrong he was cool and all, but it's just that there was something that always made me feel down..." the man let out a sigh remembering the Super Mutant. "Anyways, they reinstated the use of mobile suits which i've been tipping over left and right except the one meant for motor pool use cause honestly they have no real use outside of that. Also as you can see i managed to get the vehicle roster in order to determine what's what opposed to your cut and paste jobs... not offense, great patchwork but none of them where in top condition... especially the s**t that Ender kept taking out." he said remembering all the damage the vehicles would take when that man took his vehicles for joy rides, guy had no consideration. The thought of the man caused MArks brow to furrow with frustration.
"Other than that nothing really new... still holding the fort with the motor pool, we also lost our top two medics so hopefully no one get's a scrape or cut or they have to go to the sketchy looking autodoc." he said shuttering at the mere thought of the machine. "Also still holding strong on keeping the Initiates from fondling around... fooling around... fooly cooly... anyways It's been pretty lonely for me around here" he said rolling over once more in the bed. Somehow Mark had managed to wrap himself in the blanket and now looked like a burrito.

Alex arched an eyebrow at the mention of a diary as she looked over at the box of knickknacks. "Oh, thats was my 'roaster' so to speak." Alex answered as she pushed her self of the desk and went over to the shoe box retrieving one of the less partially smoked cigarettes and lighting it up with an old army lighter. "Hmm... These taste like crap.." Alex said sounding rather surprised as she looked at it, before dropping it on the ground and rubbing it out under her foot. "I cant believe i actually liked these things.." She said to her self as she shook her head, bending over to pick up the bud and throwing it in the trash.
"Well at the time, our vehicles where so run down it was easier to simply patch them up each time so that they could finish what ever job they had before i patched them up again. It was an effective way to save time and man power, sure they occasionally broke down in the middle of ******** nowhere. But the ******** where still running even that one Hummer Ender brought in with a sabot rocket sticking out of the door, and several 40cal rounds in the engine." Alex replied defensively, as she was rather proud of the top notch half assed repair work she was so well known for. As soon as Mark mentioned that there two best medic where gone, Alex instantly rushed over to his bed and grabbed a hold of his blanket pulling both it and Mark up. "Yulia left? Where? Why? When?" Alex said sounding rather worried as she shook the man trying to shake the answers out of him deliberately ignoring everything else that he had said, finding it less important.

Mark smirked as Alex tested out her old cigarettes, it had been a while and most of em had been found in the most mundane of places, "Meh your, along with most of the guilds taste was different back in the day." he said rolling into an even tighter burrito, now the Jr. Paladin was just having fun and keeping himself amused.
Scoffing at her reply at how well the patchwerk queen was so rpud of her work, "Yeah well since the brotherhood hasn't gotten into anything recently your patchwork has started falling apart and i've had to work with what i have... which isn't much." he said remembering how he got hit in the forehead by a chunk of metal that had shot out from the engine due to the water pressure from the radiator.
Suddenly out of nowhere Mark felt himself get lifted, "eh?!" was all that he managed to say before he felt himself being shaken like a baby,
"Yulia left? Where? Why? When?"
"I can't remember!! I think she was moving!! My head hurts! I think i'm gonna throw up! Oh mah god i know how a babby feels with a frustrated parent! Make it stop" he said as the man felt like his neck was about to snap and his brain implode. "No more shakey shakey!" he begged
