I haven't played that much since Davey's death, but I have established a new rule for myself: no TMs. I can still use HMs, but as soon as I get a TM I have to sell it. I put this rule into place because I had a whole bunch of TMs that I hadn't used and probably wasn't going to use, anyway, so why not? I have a feeling I'm going to regret this later...

I think you can't finish the game without HMs. So a no HM rule would be impossible to carry out. o.o

And I don't use a lot of TMs as well. I do use the move deleter and relearner though. In Diamond I got a lot of heart scales from the Underground and relearned my Pokemon some really nice moves. biggrin Like Sunny Day for my Roserade who has Solarbeam and Swords Dance for my Empoleon.

I also reset my game a few times. Some moments are completely unfair.

Hmm I'm also playing Emerald. Remind me to look up that part before I tackle it.

You're not the only one grinding. I'm not sure what level I should aim for. 60 is the safest but it will take forever. Currently they're 52. Maybe I should go for 56-7.

I need to grind in all of my games except HeartGold and Silver, since I've already beaten those. Oh, and Emerald. I'm actually over-leveled Emerald; although I had a hard time with Tate&Liza (the gym leaders) in Mossdeep City. o: I just...haven't.

Actually, looking up "how to get to Mossdeep City" was part of what was so frustrating about the whole ordeal. Emerald has extra steps that weren't in Ruby and Sapphire, and every walk-through I found specified how to do it in Ruby and Sapphire but wasn't clear about Emerald. D: I eventually had to piece information together from a bunch of sources to figure out how to do it.

#1 Recommendation is to have a pokémon with Fly. If you don't have one, I don't care if it breaks the Nuzlocke rules, catch one. I was trying to do it without having a Flying-type pokémon at first, and you heard how that turned out.

Also, I'm probably the only one who's this stupid, but don't confuse Mt. Pyre with Mt. Chimney/the Fiery Path. Surf south off the dock on Route 122 to get to Mt. Pyre -- the first step after you see the Team Aqua grunts on Route 122 -- and get the Magma Emblem from the old lady for defeating the Team Aqua members who are there, then go to the Jagged Pass off of Mt. Chimney. Defeat Team Magma at their hideout, go talk to the Aqua grunts in Team Aqua's hideout off the shore of Lilycove City, and then go to Slateport to talk to Captain Stern in front of Slateport Harbor. Last after that is you'll finally be able to crush Team Aqua at their hideout and get to Mossdeep City.

It's a lot of rage if you don't know what you're doing. @__@ So yeah. I'm trying to commit it to memory, if I ever have to this again...

She said she could still use HMs. Unless you're just stating the obvious...o.o

I like TMs. If I can get my hands on some good ones. :/

Cripes, sounds like a lot of work. x.x

And ja, stating ze obvious. xD Still, would be nice if you could complete the game WITHOUT any HMs. The only 2 HMs I like are Fly and Surf, because they're also very nice in battle. For the rest I feel like chucking them away.

Most HMs are not the best in battle, but without them you're pretty much screwed in terms of completing the game. I also gave myself even more rules: no Rare Candy, no items that can change a Pokemon's stats permanently or temporarily (like HP Up or X Defend), no Escape Ropes, no Repels, and no Day Care. All leveling up must be done battles. It's how I usually play, but now I'm just making it official.

Yesterday in Yellow I completely annihilated everyone on the S.S. Anne, including Gary, while taking hardly any damage myself. It probably helped that my whole party was around level 25, most battles were just one hit KO's depending on who I had out.

I realised that I would need a ground type if I wanted to defeat Lt. Surge easily, so I went to Diglett Cave and caught myself a Diglett. However, the Diglett, who I named Terra, did not last very long. She died on Route 6 while I was trying to get her up to a higher level. Damn Pidgeottos....

Ah the SS Anne. Fun if you're prepared, a trap if you're not. xD

And poor Terra. I remember on my HeartGold game which I didn't Nuzlocke that I just taught my fire Pokemon Dig to take out all those electric Pokemanz.

I'm sooooooooo slacking in Diamond. But the truth is that I'm scared to tackle the E4 for the first time in Nuzlocke style. I could lose it all!

As for Emerald, went to Slateport, handed over 'the goods', pissed off Team Aqua and caught an Oddish on 110 I named Miranda. I'm so happy I found a grass type. :3

Off to Mauville I guess. biggrin I'm playing this a bit blind - as in I haven't played it before so I'm not too sure what I will face unless I grab a guide.

I've only recently started my first Nuzlocke, in Emerald, and I plan to do one in Diamond and in Heart Gold, and may be White. I'll do one in Leaf Green if I get that too. I find it enjoyable.

I lost the first Pokemon I caught in Emerald (a Wurmple named Kurenai) and I almost cried.

Aww! Seriously, there's something about bug Pokemon and them dying pretty fast in game.

I lost Juno the Dustox in Diamond and just recently I lost Phoebe the Dustox in Emerald. O_o To a Wailmer too. Pisses me off.

In other comics I read I see people also losing their bugs fast. It's a curse I tell you.

That wurmple an a Beautifly (named Maggie) have been my only losses so far too. Nuzlockes do not like bug types.

Maybe their type defense is really low? *goes to check*

On a sidenote, took down Wattson with a bit of sweat. I'm so glad I allowed myself to use potions. With no ground types, I had to rely on my strong moves to take them down.

Yeah, I chose Mudkip as my starter, but I still bet he'll be difficult. I gotta grind like a mofo.

I also just started my Diamond Nuzlocke this morning. So far, so good. But then, I haven't gotten to a trainer battle yet.

I chose Turtwig. Giant turtles are awesome. I named him Bishop.

What starters have you gone for?

I chose Piplup in Diamond because I love Empoleon. (Named him Poseidon)
In Emerald I went for Torchic because Blaziken is so awesome. (Named her Callisto)

My other two games are HeartGold and Black, but I'm not Nuzlocking those yet. But if I do, then I already know I'm choosing Cyndaquil and Oshawott/Snivy. xD (Gotta toss a coin for the Black game I guess. xP)

When I do my next Nuzlocke, I wanna choose fire type. But in Heartgold I have some rare Pokemon I don't want to lose when I starts a new gaem...and if I choose Charmander in Leaf Green, it'll make the first gym nearly impossible.
