"Mistakes... bad choices can and will be amended," Yue Yao'an stated firmly. "Otherwise there will be no point in doing so." Yue looked closely at Mai's uniform, finding something to change the subject. "You are a Dai Li agent, am I correct?" Yue smiled in a friendly manner. "It's rare to see women in such roles. I have heard that the Fire Nation maintains some women in its domestic army, but I have never heard the Earth Kingdom being so progressive as to include women in its elite police force. It's amazing how the world can change..." Yue, for some reason, was suddenly struck with worry. He wondered if HIkaru was alright...

After siting in a half awake state listening to the gossip Day jotted names dates and hit of miss information in his small leather bound journal in between dried specimens of various non local plant life. Some people would consider what he was doing was a form of blatant spying but for him it was more of a hobby. Day finally worked up the ambition to maneuver to the interesting couple a few seats away; the Dai li agent and an oddly calm young man for someone speaking to a dai li agent. Navigating through the tables he found a chair near the couple but facing away. "I always believed it was such a waste to exclude woman in the military, especially in the earth kingdom after all a woman can move a mountain just as a man can" He chimed into the conversation and turned towards them in his chair.

No matter how deep the darkness... After a few minutes of fumbling with her robes, Hikaru managed to dress herself in normal Earth Kingdom garb consisting of a pretty green commoner's dress with dark green fastenings and matching boots. She then turned and started for the door, only to catch sight of herself in the the mirror. Her face... it was still pale from her close call yesterday. Her cheeks were devoid of color, almost like that of a corpse's...At that thought a shiver ran down her back at the thought but she shook it away. That didn't matter right now. Quickly she turned and left the room, headed for the downstairs dining area. There will always be a light...

Mai softened with the change of the subject, nodding kindly to Yue. "I am a Dai Li agent." Mai listened carefully to what the man had to say. Her pale eyes looked over to where another voice piped in. Quickly moving a black stray strand from her face Mai nodded. "Women are a key role in the Kingdom. I think having women in the military do well for the economy, seeing many more people are educated in such arts, not just men. It also breaks the hardships on the women, instead of being reproductive dog you are someone important." Mai chuckled quietly, her face furrowed into a serious expression. She started twirling her fingers over her stone bracelet, the little rocks that had melded it together swirling under her palm. She ment everything she said. Women weren't always treated the way they deserved to be, most of the time they were looked down upon as a nessecity for the breeding side of the economy, and that only.
Mai twitched her nose to look at a waiter who had addressed them. "May I take your order?" The Dai Li agent nodded,"A cup of jasmine, please." Mai looked over to her aquantainces, waiting for them to order.

Yue Yao'an tried to calm himself on the inside. Hikaru knows how to handle herself, Yue reassured himself. Even if she is injured, she can still put up a fight. And even if she's in trouble, she can't be far away...
Yue sighed, waiting for Hikaru to show up and show him that she was okay. He turned to the stranger, then at the waiter. "I'll have lemon tea." Yue glanced at Mai and the stranger. "So it seems. A few decades ago and I would not have expected Earth Kingdom women to be allowed in that uniform. The reign of the previous Earth Queen certainly has helped the feminist cause. If only the Fire Nation could have done so."
Yue took a sip of his lemon tea, which the waiter served. "Not that I have been to the Fire Nation much. I have only been to my ancestral home once. It seems like a great place, except for that I do not understand my relatives' ways. For one thing, I cannot comprehend why human beings who live in temperatures of over 80 degrees should enjoy spicy food."

No matter how deep the darkness... Hikaru entered the dining area, looking cautiously around, searching for Yue. She spotted him rather quickly, in some strange company. Why was Yue with an agent of the Dai Li? Surely he knew what she was, and how much of a threat she posed...Hikaru could only assume that he was engaged by her against his better judgment. She needed to be careful if she was to approach...she didn't know just what kind of cover story Yue may have given the Dai Li agent...There will always be a light...

Yang emerged from the room, wearing his usual attire, but one thing was a bit different, where the lines met a white flower was now embroidered.
Yang walked to a table near the back in a corner, it was only a two seating table but it was only the one that he needed. In his hands he held a small black leather book. The waitress came to him and bowed respectfully.
Yang not used to the authority awkwardly nodded back to the waitress,
"How can I help you today sir?" she asked gingerly
Yang looked into the book something that he had recently seen, "Um...Sweet Lotus Tea" said Yang awkwardly not only was his fear of women kicking in but he also had no idea what he was ordering. It was apparently his father's favorite, the book he held was a journal belonging to his father and he was determined to read it, thinking it would reveal some things about his family's past and how to properly govern this secret society he had mysteriously inherited.
"Of course sir," said the waitress as she stepped back from him before turning and returning to place the order.
Yang opened to the first page of the journal once again and began in on the life of his father.

"Lately it seems like the Earth kingdom has been adopting many progressive ideas."The waiter approached him and asked for plain water. He glanced around and noticed a rather pale nervous looking girl on the approach, obviously this was the lady he heard Yue talking about. He stood up briskly and offered her a seat. "Here you are miss" Day said in a hospitable manner. He did manage to pick up their names while sitting across the room but didn't feel right to use them at the risk of appearing like a total creeper, at that moment he had realized he hadn't introduced himself. "Oh I'm sorry how rude of me" He bowed his head in embarrassment "My name is Day, yeah I know weird name right"

The female took her jasmine tea with a nod and took a sip, the warm liquid easing her scratchy throat. Her attention turned to Day who had offered a women a seat. Mai's eyes wondered over to the women, looking her over. "This must be your Mistress." The Dai Li agent looked at Yue before dipping her head to the women. "I am Mai Xin Yu, pleasure to meet you." Mai picked up on the female's nerves. She was worried, possibly about Yue. Mai wouldn't blame her, having a Dai Li agent chat with her fiance was probably rough. Taking another sip of her tea Mai looked to Yue, chuckling quietly at his remark. Mai herself had never been out of the Earth Kingdom she had the money but it was too troublesome for her. Not to mention her position now, she couldn't waltz off and leave her kingdom in the open. "The Fire Nation needs a powerful woman. I think it'll do them good," Mai twitched her nose as the steam of the jasmine tea flew onto her face. She took another sip.

Yue Yao'an stood and looked at Hikaru, then rushed to her and kissed her on the forehead. "Hikaru, are you feeling alright? Would you like something to eat?" he asked aloud. When the others weren't paying attention, however, he whispered grimly, "This is a Dai Li agent and a stranger. Be careful of what you say. I'm a wanderer from the Fire Nation colonies that is revisiting my true love at Ba Sing Se. I finally found you and we're about to go somewhere and get married."
Yue Yao'an looked to the others and smiled. "This is my fiancee, Hikaru." He did not say her last name in fear of her being recognized by Fire Nation assassins. Turning back to her, he asked, "What would you like to eat?"

"nice to meet you mam" Day gently tapped his journal on the table and took a swing of his water downing it. "As a matter of fact I have just returned from a trip to the Fire Nation, A bit of an adventure that was. I finally got up the courage to go find myself a master and it couldn't have been at a worse time. It was like someone lit a fire under them" He raised an eyebrow."pun intended" Day wasn't exactly sure what he just told them was a good idea after all he was in the presence of a Dai Li agent, but it was too late it was already on the table. He turned the attention to the young woman Hikaru. "If you are not feeling well my lady, may I suggest a side of pickled ginseng, It settles the stomach and cleanses the pallet. He made an attempt at changing the subject.

No matter how deep the darkness... Hikaru gave a nod to Yue, although in her heart she felt a bit sad that his affection was only feigned, not genuine. For a moment she had thought... Hikaru pushed the thoughts away. Now was not the time. She turned to the man how had just suggested food to her and shook her head politely. "No thank you. I've been a bit sick these past few days and I'm afraid I have yet to recover my appetite. I merely came to see were Yue had gone. I was a bit worried..."There will always be a light...

Mai watched Yue rush to Hikaru. She nodded to herself, this particular couple caught her attention. They seemed, different at the most, though there cover up was very well thought out. Mai curled her toes on the ground, not sure yet what it was made of, either rock or wood. If it was rock she could feel the vibrations of their heart if they were lying. Mai concentrated more on this, the rock shoes she wore pulled back onto her ankle so she was barefooted now. The woman gave a look at Hikaru and then Yue before looking outside. What were these people up too?
[I got a plott ideaa:3 Mai could figure out that somethings up with Hikaru and Yue and she could stalk them and get to the bottom of it :3 XD]

No matter how deep the darkness... Hikaru felt chill run down her spine as the Dai Li agent's gaze lingered on her. Did she suspect them? That wasn't good. Hikaru feared the Dai Li, and for good reason. They were a high ranking group of elite warriors, much like the ones found in the village which Hikaru used to call home. If the Dai Li were to learn about Yue and herself...Hikaru didn't want to think about it. Instead, she did her best to mask any nervousness that may give her away and turned to the agent with a kind smile. "Um...you're kind of staring...Do I have something on my face?" she asked sweetly. There will always be a light...

"Honey, I'm alright. I can defend myself quite efficiently." Yue Yao'an looked to the others and smiled, as if everything really was alright. Yue didn't consider himself the master of lying, but he wasn't completely lying now. It was a bit of the truth. "I think we should start the day with a good breakfast. Perhaps some egg or sausage on rice, perhaps? And a bit of tea would be nice."
