I'm thinking of becoming a paladin when I hit level 30, but I'm still not sure if I should or not. Can anyone list me the pros and cons of them? Some tips for playing paladin? Any help would be appreciated.

Depending on the responses, I might either stay as a warrior, or go paladin, perhaps even dark knight.

I've never played PLD, but here's my perspective:

PROS:
You already have your sub to lvl 30
Invite time shouldn't be too long
Everyone loves PLD for tanking
DRK is just a auto-attack job
Farming will be fairly easy with little downtime(heal yourself)

CONS:
If you suck, then you will die...alot
EQ prolly gets expensive, but you should be able to handle it

yeah...i really have no idea what im talking about...

But go PLD, not DRK.

What lvl are you? like 9? maybe 17?

I can't stand people who make generalized assumptions about a job. DRK isn't an 'auto-attack job'. Want to hear what a normal battle is like, for me as a Dark Knight?

Unless I am partied with a ranger - I pull mobs, this is tedious at high levels.

Make sure mages have enough MP - pull mob
Engage mob
Cast Absorb - agi
Cast absorb - vit
Aspir if mob is Aspirable
fire off first sneak + trick attack onto second melee for tp
OR
absorb - str and line up for SC, first melee does WS and tries to turn the mob, if it doesnt turn need to haul a** behind the other melee and fire WS macro.
Watch for any spells (sleepga, high -ga elemental spells, IV tier nukes, ancient magic) and stun them.
Absorb / drain whenever they are up.

No melee is as active as a mage in an xp party, but DRK is far from an auto-attack job. want an autoattack job? go play DRG, SAM, WAR, RNG, or MNK. Oh, wait....just go play ANY other melee.

I still say go PLD. DRK is cool, but i think PLD is better.

It's simple:

If you want to tank, go PLD

If you want to close skillchains for 3k damage - go DRK

Look... the ONLY thing you need to know about Paladins is that they get Knights of the Round at level 75... 'nuff said...

Look... the ONLY thing you need to know about Paladins is that they get Knights of the Round at level 75... 'nuff said...

BUT if you want to know more... they have UBER max defense... and are fairly strong if you're a Galka or Elvaan...

Elvaan get decent MP and mind to heal themselves when necessary...

The best thing for a PLD is a sub job of a WAR... you get extra health... extra strength and defense... and since you are a WAR... you have your sub maxed enough and you can keep your weapon skills... plus you get 'voke at lvl 10 PLD and Invincibilty as a 2 hour... again... nuff said... but the best thing is to be a tank... so take a one-handed weapon and a shielf for extra defense and just... absorb the 1 pt hits enemies will deal to you while you aggro everything and everyone else beats the snot out of the monster... AND you can heal yourself to pull more aggro from monsters to keep them away from your WHM... AND you get cover so you can take the dmg that a monster MAY be able to deal to the WHM...

There are, of course, other jobs for the PLD as a main or sub... but WAR is the best sub for it...

Anything else?

you sir offend me....Warrior is not just an auto attack job. atleast not the way i play it. you try setting up a SAnTA sturmwind ; ;

and the DRK is just a semi-auto attack, with a few good spells (Absorb-stat) lounging about the other useless ones (all their "damage" spells)

~*~back on topic~*~

Paladin is a great job if you enjoy being the meat shield.

they have excellent HP, great DEF, and Mana to cure themselves when farming, exping, or even hunting HNM/NM. equipment might slow you down. but that's where you keep whatever armor you're warrior's wearing, and stash it in the mog house (since warrior and pld can wear the same armor)

Hmmmm... Try setting up a sa/ta Sturmwind? My job in parties is to close skillchains, whether it be sa/ta Cross Reaper or sa/ta Spinning Slash, for 2k+ damage. Its not hard to setup a sa/ta weaponskill buddy.

Warrior is pretty much engage enemy - build tp - buff for WS - SC

Pro: Some awsome armore in later levels...

Con: :Ots of deaths dependeing on your pt(actually thats tanking in general)

For my statements, it'll be as a WAR52 and a PLD20...Didn't lvl DRK yte, sadly T.T

ANYWAYS...

Warrior - Use it if you don't mind switching between DD or tanking. Go WAR if you don't want to worry about small downtime on MP since all WARs should really worry about (from my point of view) is to keep HP 90% or higher, keep a eye out for a mob that may have popped and may link, and to keep your TP up for a SC. Bad side, in my opinion, is that your sub might decide whether you get a invite or not because of some picky people or wait longer in the higher levels.

Paladin - Good if you want to just stick with mainly tanking. If you party and feel like cures aren't going around fast enough sometimes, then PLD can help since you can help toss cures here and there if the mages that can cure can't pitch the cures around without taking too much hate and getting killed. You also don't need to worry much on people getting picky over your sub since it has to be WAR for parties but only the level of your WAR sub might get some people if it isn't up to your level.

Wish I could have provided some opinions on DRK T.T
